Recommended Driving Enhancements for 2017 Thor Hurricane 29M Class A on Ford F53 Chassis

Question:

New to RVing and just purchased a 2017 Thor Hurricane 29M. Want to purchase Sumosprings for the front and rear but now Im confused. It has a GVWR of 18,000. Which springs do I need? Thanks.

Your 2017 Thor Hurricane 29M is built on a Ford F53 chassis. For the Sumosprings, I recommend the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs - 2 Piece - Front Axle # SSF-170-40-2 and the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-187-40-1. These jounce springs will help the motorhome suspension to support the load for a more stable ride. They work independently to help with body roll, sway, and shock absorption. These springs are rated for your vehicle weight.

You may also want to consider sway control and steering stabilization. Anti-Sway bars will help diminish the effects of crosswinds, passing motorists, and shifting cargo. They allow for a level ride even on uneven surfaces. These products are rated for higher weight vehicles, but will work on your motorhome as well.

I recommend the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar for Motor Homes # RM-1139-146 and the Roadmaster Front Anti-Sway Bar for Motor Homes # RM-1139-148. These will help minimize sway and thus driver fatigue. For the greatest help to the driver, I recommend the Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer with Mounting Brackets for Class A Motor Homes # RM-RBK22-RSSA which will actively help to keep the vehicle on course. It will use a spring to compress and extend to keep the steering neutral in crosswinds, rut tracking, road edging, and even a tire blowout. It minimizes wander and corrects oversteering for an improved driving experience.

I personally would choose to add anti-sway and steering prior to jounce springs. I would use this order in adding parts for best ride: rear anti-sway, then steering stabilizer, then front anti-sway, then rear jounce, and finally front jounce. They can be added one piece at a time or however your budget allows.

@Hando What has happened is the way that we have it set up in our fit guide. For the Sumo Springs applications it would fall under the chassis design of the motorhome. So it would be found looking under a 2017 Ford F-53 versus looking under a 2017 Thor Hurricane. The F-53 frame is used through multiple motorhomes frame designs.
