You picked out a beautiful campsite for the weekend, a nice place to pause and relax. But before you can enjoy it, you have a whole checklist for getting your RV set up at your campsite. Getting your manual retractable awning extended is one of those tedious chores. Wrestling with your heavy canopy as you crank it all the way out, turn by turn, is exhausting and takes forever. It's time to find a better way to do this.
With a power awning, there's no bother and there's no effort: push a button and your awning rolls in and out, just like that. It wires right into your RV's power so it's always ready to go. If you ever find yourself without power, there's a manual override built into the drive head that you can use to retract or extend your awning with a power drill (not included).
Note: The manual override function is not available on 2017 Forest River Cherokee campers.
Best of all, this conversion kit is a great economical option. You don't need to buy new fabric or a new roller to upgrade to a power awning. You just need these new awning arms and endcaps, and you're good to go.
One thing that can quickly ruin your camping trip is a broken awning. It's not easy or cheap to replace, and you can't really enjoy your patio without one. A big hazard to a healthy awning is rain: water pools in the fabric, stretching it out and putting strain on the arms with extra weight it wasn't designed to hold. Next thing you know, the fabric rips - the arms snap - the whole awning comes crashing down, slamming against your RV and leaving you with a big and costly problem.
For traditional awnings, it's up to you to run out in the rain and lower one of the arms yourself. If you're away from your RV when it starts to rain, you can only hope your awning isn't damaged when you get back. Solera awning arms are smarter than that. This conversion kit comes equipped with an automatic rain dump function. As soon as rainwater starts to pool in the fabric, one of the arms will automatically drop, giving your awning a pitched angle. The rainwater will then run off to one side, taking the pressure off your awning and your mind.
It's hard to get your awning in just the right place to keep you in the shade all day, especially with those awnings that are pretty high off the ground. Sometimes you need just a little slant to your awning to keep the sun out of your eyes. The manual pitch adjustment built into these arms gives you that option. Simply pull on one of the arms at the friction joint to drop that corner. It comes down easily and holds itself there for as long as you need it. When it's time to retract your awning, there's no need to readjust it; the awning will slide back into place.

These work great and allow my wife to extend and retract the awning without help or even leaving the RV. I installed the Carefree wind sensor (auto retracts when wind blows/shakes it to much) which was a relatively easy install and fit into the motor head like it was made to fit there.

The arms work as designed, ( which is good) I’m a do-it-yourselfer, so, I installed the arms a little too high, my mistake, but that hasn’t hampered the operation of the arms. They work great.

We watched the YouTube video several times which was very helpful for the installation. Hooking up the electric switch to the battery was a little tricky because we wanted it inside the RV. We had to buy a deep outlet box at the hardware store to fit the wires and switch to mount on the inside of the RV wall. All in all, it turned out good and looks and works great.

We are very pleased with the automatic conversion for our dometic awning. As we age it had become more difficult to extend and retract our manual awning. The automatic awning works as advertised and as designed.

After a year, it’s installed and working great. No issues, but on occasion it will hang up on one end. Not enough to make an adjustment.. I’m totally happy with it. Thanks etrailer for the great price…..

We removed the old manual arms from my 5th wheel as soon as I placed the order for the new power conversion kit. The kit came quickly. I had to wait a few days for the new awning to arrive. My fiance and I are 65 and had no problems installing the new power awning. We had to get a hand from our neighbor to help us with holding things up while we secured it. It only took us less than 3 hours and it works perfectly. It was so easy we are going to install the same system on our rv.
We installed this to replace our original manual awning. The installation went well and it looks great. The biggest advantage is when the weather changes and you need to bring your awning in it retracts quickly. It also is an advantage for my wife since She is short and could not operate the old awning, all she has to do now is press the button.

I should have done this years ago, so simple to lower and put up the awning now! With the old manual system we hardly every used the awning as it was such a hassle on our 2001 Winnebago Journey DL. Converted my manual awning to power , should have done it sooner makes extending and retracting easy for any one to use

This was a very cool upgrade it has. My stuff was not avadouble because it was older so I retroed everything over to this. And everything is working perfect, thanks again.
The install was not simple but the product is great! It is worth the work to go from a manual awning to automatic so even the kids can roll it in on their own!
Arms were damaged during delivery and 6 months later still no help from etrailer

I sincerely apologize as it looks like this had slipped through the cracks. Customer Service will be in touch quickly so that we can have this resolved for you.
While I am very pleased with etrailor,thier shipping company needs to improve. My order arrived in a box that was torn almost in half and had several holes in it. I immediatly inspected the order and luckily it appears okay.
Great product and easy to install with 3 people helping.
the new legs as I call them went on like a breeze! works very well.
Only thing to add, was I wish I had been able to only order one. That’s all I needed.
