Video Transcript for An In-Depth Look at the Rear View Safety Windshield Mounting Arm for Mirror Monitors

Hi there., I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this rear view safety windshield mounting arm. Now, this is going to allow you to mount your monitor in place of your vehicle's rear view mirror. And this is going to allow you to tick the monitor up off the dash or console where can oftentimes be in your way, potentially obstruct your view. And it's going to put it right there in your windshield where you are used to looking up to see what's behind you. So very easy to get this installed.

It's gonna slide right onto the mounting button that attaches to your windshield. You gotta screw there to tighten it down in place. Our hexagonal connection here is going to work with any self standing monitor. You can tighten it down by threading in that backing plate there until it's nice and snug for you. This does have a nice, feels very sturdy and you can adjust the angle here, but those are very tight.

So you're not gonna have to worry about it falling on you or dropping as you're hitting bumps in the road and that sort of thing it's gonna hold up really well. It feels very sturdy to me. So that's gonna complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Our camera camera system screen mount came with a suction cup and double-sided tape, neither of which gave a solid mounting option (screen would bounce every time hit a bump) and we could not fit our sunshade around the bulky mounts. Since the rearview mirror is practically useless, I decided to use this adapter with the existing windshield mount and it is now solid and doesn't bounce at all. It also allows you to adjust the angle of the screen, whereas the suction cup and tape did not. I am very happy with the performance of this mounting arm!

One year later and still functions as well as it did on day one. I would recommend this mount to anyone wanting to install a camera system on their rv or trailer.

Ordered this mounting arm to attach a recently purchased 7" back up camera monitor so that i would not have to use the adhesive or screw mounting options that came with the monitor. I installed it in a 2012 Nissan NV 3500 high roof cargo van that has no rear windows, but had the rear view mirror mounting button already attached to the windshield. Since the van had no rear view mirror installed, I simply had to slip the mounting arm onto the mounting button and screw it down to tighten it in place. Worked like a charm!!! Simple solution for anyone who wants to mount a back up camera monitor for a cargo van that does not have a need for a rear view mirror. Highly recommended!

We purchased this bracket to hold our backup monitor in our motor home and works great

This is the perfect mount for my 4 channel backup camera monitor in my 3/4 ton truck! It does not shake or lose adjustment even in such a rough riding vehicle.

by:

Awesome. Works great

Perfect! That's what I was looking for to set up with my rear view camera to mount on the front windshield of my 2002 Ford F150. It's sturdy and is built with strong material. It mounts perfect where my rear view mirror use to be at,I searched everywhere and etrailer had what I needed.

So far working great!

Though this mounting arm is designed for a RVS monitor, I adapted it to mount an Auto Vox Solar 4 monitor by replacing the bolt on the monitor end with a M7 x 30 to provide longer length. I connected this mount to a custom fixture that was 3D printed per a file done by The Fit RV by enlarging the hole diameter to fit the M7 bolt. The windshield attachment D ring fitted a special adapter purchased from AutoZone for MB Sprinter vans (Brandmotion SPRTAB rearview mirror bracket 5000), however, this adapter did not fit with my 2016 Sprinter. Thus, I replaced the bolt on the D ring with a M5 x 25 bolt and two nuts to secure the anchor ring that I took off of the OEM mirror mount. Since I am waiting on a replacement for the new Auto Vox monitor, I haven't had a chance to verify that my modifications will work, but am hopeful. Now I know why RV manufactures leave the useless rear view mirrors on the MB chassis.

We have around 100 trucks with aftermarket rear view backup cameras that were mounted to the windshield with a 2 sided tape bracket. Needless to say with the temperature fluctuations they were constantly falling off. This mounts on the rear view mirror button. I have installed a couple of these so far and none have fallen off. I will be ordering more of these because I believe this bracket is the solution.

I didn't need a rearview mirror in my motorhome but I did need a stable place to mount my dash cam. The existing mount wouldn't work in the cam slot, but this worked perfectly for that purpose.

Still very happy with item and I highly recommend this item!

by:

Very nice to have the rearview monitor up out of the way.

by:

we purchased a backup camera for being able to see behind our travel trailer. With the mounting arm, we are able to take off our review mirror, use the mounting to mount the camera display. Works perfect. Thanks solved a problem for us.

by:

The ball joints are extremely stiff, the one next to the monitor mount needed to be mechanically held and the rest of the unit very firmly moved around it. I would have sent back but I needed it to finish up the project and it took so long to get it. Definitely would not mount up the monitor and then use it to move the ball joint to position the monitor. Got the unit adjusted so monitor is in good position but will consider the adjustment permanent.

Got this to mount a cheap [resell] reverse camera monitor in my Ford motorhome. The mounting end for the monitor is not exactly correct, but this wasn't exactly meant for it either. Fit the Ford mirror tab perfectly. Still, it works a treat!

by:

Arm was used to mount a Haloview rear view monitor in a class C RV to the windshield rear view mirror mount. Works terrific eliminating suction cup monitor mount.

by:

I've always hated putting my rearview monitor on the dash or on the console where it's in the way. This mounting arm allows me to put it on the windshield where I naturally look to see what's behind me. The Arm is solidly built and very easy to install.

by:

This product was perfect for mounting the monitor for my 3rdeye backup camera. Sales support was excellent and timely. Thank you!

by:

Bought this to adapt a modern full screen rear view camera / mirror in place of an older one on my 1973 American Motors Javelin. Works a treat! Bery well made, should last a very long time.

by:

I install it , fit just like it came with the backup camera, very happy with

by:

This mirror mount works perfectly. I replace my rear view mirror on my truck with this mount for my backup camera monitor, when I'm pulling my 5th wheel trailer. When I'm not pulling a trailer, I put the mirror back on..

Great Product. Installed on my Motorhome a year ago and it’s still running great. Even survived the brutal Alaska winter. I recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced camera with ease of use.
