I still need to install it but the quality looks perfect. I like that with this style you can mount it off-center if you have a spare tire as well on your back bumper I really appreciate the expedited shipping. I always shop from a trailer if I can.

Paint is holding up perfectly and it’s still easy to use. If you install this on a bumper, it’s really recommended that you weld the bumper to strengthen or get some products to help out. The torque on the frame connection will rip off the bumper eventually if not reinforced

2017 Toyota Tundra

Just installed this unit on my travel trailer bumper and it appears to be fairly heavy duty and secure. Did have some trouble getting it on the bumper but used my truck tire jack for leverage & it popped right on (see photo). The receiver is just what I need for my bike rack & 2 bikes that I will be hauling to Florida next month. Safety first & this unit looks well made & will hold to the challenges of the road.

Lynn

After a year & 2 trips to Florida is perfect! No need to tighten the bolts due to vibration & wear & tear from a 45 lb bike rack & 40 lbs of bikes. I am extremely pleased with this receiver!

by:

The Curt trailer hitch is solid as can be and couldn't have been any easier to install. Product arrived ahead of schedule and George at the erailer is great with email communications . I will be purchasing future products from this company. Great job George at etrailer. happy camping

2016 Jayco Jay Flight SLX Travel Trailer

This receiver fit perfectly and was easy to install. We have our Stow a Way luggage carrier mounted on the back of our little RV trailer.
Tried to download a pic but unsuccessful.

by:

Solid hitch. Performs as it should, was easy to install.

by:

Haven't used it yet but I did have one on a previous trailer and it worked great. That is the reason that I purchased it..

by:

Thank you etrailer, I’ve been looking for this bumper receiver for my 38’ Keystone toy hauler for a bike rack. Ordered and four days later it’s here. Installed in 10mins, fits perfectly. I used a flat washer and nylok nuts instead of nuts supplied. Well built and sturdy.

This thing is holding up great. I had a different stile before and it broke driving down the road. Causing my cargo rack to fall off carrying my generator and my bb-qer. But this mount has been amazing

by:

Awesome product. I did have one problem with it but it was on my end. The bumper on my Keystone Summerland Series Mini was a little to close to the body so I had to flip the mount over to make the bolts work. Shipping was fast!!!! 4 days including the day I ordered. Would have been 3 but something happened with UPS. I will definitely be buying more products from etrailer Corporation.

Still holding up great a year later. It easily allows me to carry my cargo receiver which has my generator and a couple five gallon gas cans on the back.

by:

Delivered quickly. Haven’t installed it yet and look forward to using this for my Thule Bike rack.

I have a 21.5' Trail-Lite RV that had a plastic bumper. I wanted to put a Bike Rack on the back of the RV, so I bought some 3/16" 4" x 4" square stock and had a welder weld it on the back of the RV. This is a lot heaver duty than a stock bumper. Once the bumper was installed, I bought this Curt bumper hitch, part E-100, from etrailer.com. Installation was a breeze, and only took a few minutes. I used some grease and a small hydraulic jack to encourage the hitch to slide on. You DO NOT need to drill out the holes as some have reported. A 4 pound sledge will encourage the back hitch hole to pop above the 4" bumper. Use some never seize on the threads so it will come apart some day. Here is the finished product, with my e-bike installed. Shipping was quick and FREE! (I ordered over $100 of stuff)

by:

Torqued to spec. and works as expected. We hang a bike rack off of it on the back of a travel trailer. Solid design.

Reason not a 5: There was a slight alignment issue getting the bolts through both sides due to the stampings not being aligned when welded. Once I got the bolts through, no issue, but there was interference with the threads on the stamping; had to turn the bolts through as they would not slip through.
Still would recommend.

by:

A previous trailer hitch receiver was not adequate for a bike rack with heavy mountain bikes. It developed cracks in the metal. There’s a fair amount of vibration for a bike rack at the back end of a camp trailer. I bought the Curt receiver to mount a 50# Kuat bike rack to carry two +50# e-bikes. So the load is +150# plus the torque of extending almost three feet from the receiver. Worked great. An observer noted the rack and bikes were quite stable.

by:

Thanks to etrailer and Michelle for helping me select the Curt E-100 4" bumper mount cargo reciever hitch. The quick delivery helped us get on our fall trip accordingly. Definatly the right product for this application.

by:

Wow! Service was personal, quick & complete! Will definitely buy from the folks at etrailer again!

by:

Hitch mount was as info described. Needed to mount a heavy 4 bike rack on my RV. Arrived on time and fit perfectly. etrailer videos were very helpful in selecting the right hitch for my weight requirements. You took the time to make them to support the products, you earned my business because of it.

by:

Easy to install and has worked great for a bike rack on the back of our travel trailer.

by:

Great product, solid and easy to install on our Flagstaff Camper. E-Trailer kept a timely Email contact informing me of the tracking progress on delivery. Thanks for the great product and professional service.

  • Curt Trailer Hitch Recommendation for Fitting Bumper at Rear of Camper
We have trailer hitches from Curt that are designed specifically for attaching to a camper's bumper. If the bumper is 4 inch by 4 inch we have the part # E-100. If the bumper is 4 inch by 2 inch we have the part # C19101.

  • Will Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs Work for Dirt Bike
The Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # C13702 has a 500 lb tongue weight capacity so it will work for your Grand Design Solitude so long as it has a box frame or C-channel frame that measures 18" to 51" wide from inside to inside of your frame. We don't have any measurements or frame styles so you'll need to take that measurement. If your Grand Design has a box frame, C-channel frame, or I-beam frame that is wider, from 22" to 66" you can use the Adjustable Width Trailer...

  • When Curt RV Hitch #-100 is Installed How Much Ground Clearanc is Lost
When the Curt RV Bumper hitch part # E-100 is installed on the rear bumper of a trailer it's going to add right at 2-1/2 inches to the bottom of the bumper. So your current ground clearance would get reduced by that much. That said, there isn't a stated required ground clearance with this hitch as that will vary quite a bit depending on several factors like the distance between the rear bumper and the rear axle of the trailer and what type of elevation changes you'd be traveling on.

  • Trailer Hitch and Swinging Bike Rack for Great West Conversion Van on 2003 Dodge Ram Van Chassis
To be able to use a bike rack and be able to open the rear spare and hatch doors (which look like they open towards the left side of the vehicle) I recommend installing a trailer hitch and using a swing away bike rack. Your 2004 Great West was built on the 2003 Dodge Ram Van chassis so for a trailer hitch I recommend # 75140. This is a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver. For a bike rack that swings off towards the passengers side of the vehicle I recommend the Thule Apex, # TH9027XT,...

  • Recommended Hitch Mounted Bike Rack for Travel Trailer and Truck Use
You have done your homework and that makes helping easy. As you mentioned the RV compatible bike racks are created to be more rigid than the typical vehicle hitch mounted carriers. This means that there are often less moving parts that could break down and may cause a good tracking trailer to suddenly have up to 100 lbs of unstable weight causing sway. You can absolutely use an RV rated bike rack on the back of your truck without issue and there are some really nice hanging style options....

  • Bumper Mount and Frame Mount Trailer Hitches for a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan
On most vehicles, the bumper beam is attached to the vehicle frame. A hitch that attaches to the bumper beam (a lot of Jeep and Dodge truck applications are like this) is just as safe and secure as a frame mount hitch. It would take an impressive amount of force and one heck of a crack in the road to pull the bumper off of a vehicle, provided the hitch is installed correctly. Your mechanic may be thinking of a hitch that attaches to a square bumper like # E-100. You would not use this...

  • Could RV Bumper Hitch # E-100 Carry 250 lb Cargo Carrier

  • Recommended RV Hitch for Use with Swagman Dispatch Hitch Bike Carrier S64684
Generally it is better to install a frame-mounted hitch like # C13701 on an RV rather than a bumper mounted type like # E-100. The reason is that not all RV bumpers are strong enough, nor are they always rated by the manufacturer for supporting enough suspended weight for a load like a bike rack. You can check with your RV maker using the unit's VIN to confirm whether or not the bumper can handle a hitch mounted to it, and if so what that bumper weight capacity is. You can also make the...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for Fat Tire E-Bikes on Travel Trailer
Your best option is to use the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack # S94FR along with 2 sets of the Fat Tire Adapter Kit # S64679 and at least 1 (if not 2) of the adapter bar # 64005 so that the hooks have a place to secure your bikes. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack is 15-1/2" so you'll want to double check this clearance with your spare tire to be safe. This fits 2" hitch receivers so it can also be used on your F-150 pickup. From what I can see in your photo...

  • Recommended Bike Carrier for Use on StarCraft Comet 1220 Pop-Up Travel Trailer
I reviewed photos of your StarCraft Comet 1220 pop-up and it appears to have a 2 x 4-inch c-channel type rear bumper. This is not strong enough to allow using a bolt-on hitch like Curt # C19101 so your best option for carrying bikes on the trailer is to use the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Trailer-Mounted Bike Rack Carrier for A-Frame Trailers # CC-275. To help offer better support on your RV bumper you can use something like the Mount-n-Lock SafetyStruts Standard RV Bumper Support Brackets # MO22FR. • Trailer Hitch for Travel Trailer that Has Thin Square Bumper not Rated for Hitch
For a bumper as thin as yours I would not recommend the # E-100 for installing a hitch. Instead I would recommend going with a frame mount like the part # 13703 that will fit your trailer as long as your outside to outside frame dimensions are between 22 and 72 inches. Since the goal is to carry a cargo carrier you would need to use the stabilizer strap part # 18050 as well per Curt's warranty requirements.
