Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, and motorhomes - not approved for fifth wheels or towable campers

Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Swagman Trailhead 2-Bike Carrier

The Swagman Trailhead hitch-mounted bike rack carries four bikes on dual arms that provide superior stability during transport. The dual arms easily fold down for storage - just pull a pin - and each arm features an integrated reflector at its tip.

Anti-Sway Cradles

Swagman Trailhead Anti-Sway Cradles

The Trailhead has anti-sway cradles that rotate and slide along the dual arms to perfectly position your bicycles, reducing the need for a bike adapter bar. The cradles include durable rubber straps to hold your bikes firmly in place on the rack. Because the cradles secure each bike at three places (twice along the top tube and once along the seat post or down tube), rocking back and forth is virtually eliminated, preventing bike-to-bike contact.

Tilts Forward For Rear Cargo Access

Swagman Trailhead Tilts Forward

This versatile rack tilts forward, away from your vehicle, when you remove a pin at the base. This allows easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Shank Adapter for 2" Receivers

Swagman Trailhead Shank Adapter

It includes a two-piece adapter that installs over the shank to convert your rack for use on 2" hitch receivers. For 1-1/4" hitch receivers, use the rack without the adapter.

Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin

Swagman Trailhead Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin

The Trailhead comes with an anti-rattle, threaded hitch pin and clip to secure the rack to your trailer hitch and eliminate rattle during transport. To lock your rack to the hitch, replace the pin and clip with Swagman's anti-rattle lock (S64029 - sold separately).

A great, utilitarian rack for the cost. Tough, folding, and tilting works well. I remove mine when I know I won't use it for a few days and it's easy to put and take off. Curt receiver, also from etrailer, installs quickly as a bolt-on-- I had a friend help hold as I tightened the bolts. Purchased a receiver lock and it's holding up fine. 628948

DOES NOT FIT BOYS BMX BIKES!! Purchased to carry 3 children's bikes (2 20"bmx boys bikes and a 16" girls bikes) Look and feel solid but does not fit 20" bikes and smaller (maybe mountain bikes but not bmx bikes).. will only fit men's bikes. Going to remove the holder and just strap to the arms.. 566506

Some bicycles, like womens bikes or bikes with a short top tube can be hard to fit, which is why frame adapter bars like # 64005
Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's, Children's, and Alternative Frame Bikes
$30.00
are available. A frame adapter bar spans the distance between the handlebar gooseneck and the seat post, adding an extra few inches of width for the bike to attach to the rack.

The good: Solid, heavy construction. Easy to use method for attaching the bikes. Includes adapter for different type / size hitches. Fairly easy to swing out of the way for hatch access (although it is heavy). Plenty of room between carrier and rear of vehicle. The meh: Requires the use of anti-rattle bolt. This means that one must carry a socket wrench to install and remove the carrier. Should use a torque wrench. The bad: Instructions are awful. To assemble, "only one bolt needs to be installed", but the photos are so poor that they are useless. Does not say that a second bolt has to be tightened. Pin and pin locks cannot be used because the anti-rattle threads cannot be removed and are too small diameter for a pin. Recommended Swegman anti-rattle lock is too long to fit on some factory hitches such as Jeep Grand Cherokee. Bike strap and connectors make placing the bike on the inside holder a chore. 212416

Although Swagman says the S63380 will hold four bikes up to 35 lbs, they also mention on the instruction sheet that the hitch has only a 100 lb max capacity! Our bikes all weigh about 30 to 32 lbs, so four bikes are too much for this hitch. I called etrailer to exchange for this reason and etrailer was awesome and sent me a prepaid return label and also immediately sent out a replacement (Sportrack A30404XT) that can carry the load. Fantastic customer service from etrailer! I noticed that they have updated the description on the etrailer page to add the 100 lb max capacity for this Swagman hitch, so hopefully this mix-up won't happen for anyone else. 46330

This is a very solid product! I have used it for over a year now and love it! I have had up to 3 bikes on this without a problem and have traveled over 8 hours in the car one way with absolutely no issues. Many other bike racks like this one that I see on other cars look unstable this is not unstable in anyway. I did have to file some of the paint off of the rack to get it to fit in my 1 and 1/4" hitch but once that was done it has been perfect. I also bought the locking hitch bolt which is awesome too. 65654

Giving a 5 star but this is my first trailer hitch bike rack so I have nothing to compare it against. The only issue I had was it would bounce back and forth pretty aggressively when I would hit a bump even with all of the bikes loaded on. In fact, I was driving down rugged roads in new mexico and I hated looking back and seeing the bikes flying all over the place, even though I had the bikes tightened down really good as well as all of the other tightening mechanisms to improve the rigidity of the rack. I didn't miss anything... so I just assumed maybe the motion was normal, but it made me drive slow, that's for sure. 818902

Rack hauled two adult and 2 kid sized bikes all over the northeast without trouble! The tilt feature was nice as it allowed us to access the back of the truck without removing any bikes. Only loosened in the hitch twice, just kept a 3/4 wrench handy and checked it here and there. Great product! 817123

Very good product. It appears to be strong and fits nicely in the hitch. If you take a look at the review video, the tech has a strap on both wheels. The rack does not come with any. So, I went to Home Depot and purchased long velcro straps (located in the 3M section). This solution seems to work just fine. Also, I am concerned with the bike swaying back and forth. If anyone has a solution to reduce bike sway, I would greatly appreciate it. 659028

  • Hitch Lock for Swagman Trailhead 4-Bike Rack
There is a hitch lock that is compatible with the Swagman Trailhead 4-Bike Rack # S63380. What you need to allow you to lock the rack to your hitch is the Locking Anti-Rattle, Threaded Hitch Pin for Swagman Hitch Racks # S64029. Or, for a hitch lock along with a cable lock to secure your bikes to the rack you can use the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable for Swagman Bike Racks # S64031. I have added links to video reviews of each of these parts for you to check out as well.

You are correct that a Class I hitch can handle the weight of 2 bikes but not more. Even if two of the four bikes are smaller kids bikes, you are still limited to carrying 2 bikes. There should be a sticker on the hitch that indicates its Class rating and tongue weight (TW) capacity. The 1-1/4-inch hitch size could be either a Class I or a Class II so checking the sticker is a good way to confirm. Also, another concern to note is that any accessory that is to be used on the back of an...

  • Will Swagman Trailhead Bike Rack Allow Rear Door of Jeep Wrangler to Open
The first thing you'll want to do is determine if the bike rack has a shank long enough to move it far enough away from the rear of the vehicle so the rack's upright won't hit the spare tire before the shank can be secured into the hitch. To find this out, there's an easy measurement you can take. Have a helper stand a straight edge (like a yardstick or a 2x4) vertically so it's flat against the rear face of the spare tire. Then, take a tape measure and measure rearward from the hitch...
