Video Transcript for Go Power RV Solar Panels - Roof Mounted Solar Kit - 34273837 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're taking a look at a Go-Power Solar Eco kit. This kit is an economical solar solution for keeping your batteries charged and healthy. It comes with everything needed to install on your RV rooftop. A 20 watt system is great for triple charging your batteries through the weekend. And this kit simply converts the sun's energy into DC electricity, and then that electricity is what charges your batteries and ensures that you have power when you need it.Now the rated power is 20 watts. This kit comes with everything you see laid out here on the table.

So you get the solar panel. This features tempered glass which withstands hail or light debris and it has the clear anodized aluminum frame to resist rust and corrosion and keep the unit lightweight. It also comes with a 10 amp digital PWM solar controller. You get your MC4 red output cable and MC4 black output cable. Each one measures 25 feet long. And then you also get the necessary installation and mounting hardware, connectors, fuse holder, fuse, and then on the back here we have the wiring pre-wired into the solar panel, which connects to the controller. The solar controller, which is this unit here.

This is easy to use with the on-board navigation. It allows you to choose battery type and charging profile. It works for sealed AGM and flooded battery types. Battery charging profile includes float charge, bulk or absorption charge, and equalization charge. It also features an automatic equalized feature that will actually charge and recondition your batteries once a month at a higher voltage to ensure that any excess sulfation is removed. Now the controller also displays voltage, PV charging current, and battery state of charge.

Errors will also be displayed so you can quickly identify and resolve any issues. It offers a standard USB port right here for delivering five volts to small mobile appliances, such as cell phones, tablets, and small music players. Now the controller also offers battery reverse polarity protection, solar array reverse polarity protection, over temperature protection, and over current protection. When it comes to the solar panel right here, it measures 18 and 1/2 inches long by 13 and 9/16 inches wide by one inch thick. It only weighs 3.97 pounds. Maximum power voltage is 17.5 volts.

Maximum power current is 1.14 amps. Open circuit voltage is 21.6 amps. Short circuit current is 1.21 amps. And the maximum system voltage is 600 volt DC.Now keep in mind the mounting of the controller needs to be indoors or in a compartment that is kept safe from moisture and dirt and all that kind of stuff. You want to have access to this so that way you can easily control everything and see what's going on.Again, 25 foot wiring. You've got plenty of wiring here bundled on the back as well. The wiring on the back plugs into the appropriate positive and negative connection points. They are labeled solar. And then you have your black cable, which is your negative cable, for battery. So that'd go negative. Red would be positive battery cable. So it has the ports labeled right here on the back for easy connecting. That's going to do it for today look at the Go-Power Solar Eco kit.

Do you have a question about this RV Solar Panel?

  • Using Generators to Power RV At High Altitudes
  • When you get to higher elevations (typically right in the range where you recently camped - 6,000 to 8,000 feet above sea level) generators do have a tougher time running efficiently due to a few factors but mainly because the lower oxygen density requires more airflow for the mix of air and fuel. Many generators are indeed compatible with separate "high altitude" kits that allow them to run to the best of their ability in this environment. We don't currently carry Yamaha generators...

  • Recommended Solar Panel to Maintain Two Group 27 Batteries in Storage
  • In order to keep the two group 27 batteries on your 2016 Jayco Trailer maintained while in storage I recommend using the Go Power Eco Solar Kit part # 34273837. This kit will provide your batteries with up to a 1.14 amp maximum power current which will be plenty for a maintenance charge. The best feature of this kit is the digital controller which allows you to monitor the condition of your batteries and prevents them from overcharging. I have attached a review video for you as well.

  • How Tow Keep Trailer Battery Charged While In Storage
  • If you just need a solar panel to keep your battery charged while in storage then the Solar Battery Charger part # PTW2997 will be perfect for this and you don't have to worry about overcharging either. I am not sure what you mean by using the battery to keep them on but the above will not draw any power from your battery. If you want something to actually provide a charge when you are actively using the battery then you can use the Go Power Eco Solar Charging System with Digital Solar...

  • Solar Charger Options for Battery Bank with 6 Batteries on Charger
  • Since you have so many batteries to charge I'd go with a kit that has more charging potential like the Go Power Eco Solar Charging System with Digital Solar Controller # 34273837 that is rated for 20 watts charging. While this won't fully charge 6 depleted batteries it would do a much better job than a 2.5 watt charger. The solar panel is then 18-1/2" long x 13-9/16" wide x 1" deep. For a 100 watt solar panel setup we have the part # 34272635 which has dimensions of 47-1/16" long x...

  • Can Go Power 10 Watt Eco Solar Charging System be Connected to More Than 1 Snowmobile Battery
  • The Go Power Eco Solar Charging System # 34273836 can be connected to more than 1 snowmobile battery but you would need to make sure that your batteries are connected in parallel so that the voltage of the batteries don't change. This solar panel kit only provides a trickle charge so you need to make sure that your batteries are completely charged prior to hooking this up via a charger/maintainer like the NOCO # 329-G4 which allows you to connect up to 4 individual batteries to it. • Recommended Solar Panel for Maintaining Trailer Batteries While In Storage
