I have not placed the racks on my vehicle yet as I’m waiting to complete some medical conditions keeping me limited , but I have opened the box this morning , I have seen others in the fishing community in Hawaii using the Reel deal fishing racks and have received excellent comments . I’m keeping busy and prepping to get back into some form of relaxation and therapy , I’m very pleased to see how well built the racks are and very sturdy construction and ease of operation which will help me protect my valuable fishing poles and give me piece of mind there very protected and secure while driving to and from locations . Can’t wait to take my grandkids out Holo holo ( venturing ) to bond and spend quality time together . When I have my grandson over the house I’ll ask him to place the racks on the truck . I think it’s a great product and others will feel the same way after purchasing their own set .

I used Yakima’s ReelDeal rod carriers for the last year. It’s a great way to carry your fishing rods. I find I can carry 6 w/ reels rods (mine are all 7’) with one set of ReelDeal by alternating reals front to back. The pic shows 2 pair of real deals as I recently moved 10 rods/reels for the start of the Chesapeake spring fishing season. Great product, typical Yakima quality, all systems are lockable… highly recommend if you are frequently moving rods.
I’m also a long-time big fan of etrailer. Their website and product videos are very helpful, sipping is always quick… top notch vender for just about anything you need for move or carry.
Holds rods very well. Etrailer was spot on as a service provider. I have most likely ordered a dozen or so items from etrailer. Service is always excellent, will continue to use them. Easy to install and met expectations as a Yakima product.
All ready for the trip to Ocean City MD!! Rods are secure and ready to travel. Very quick install on the Yakima HD rails. Undo the t-bolt fully, move the pivot point to the furthest position, re insert the t-bolt and tighten slowly. Great combo with the Yakima Overhaul system; I now have room for all of our vacation essentials. Thank you Bridget and the team at etrailer; I needed it fast and you got it to me!
Work as they should. They keep my larger ocean reels from touching the top of my truck.

Very easy to install, and I was able to mount it to the upper deck of my homemade kayak trailer. Very secure, and it looks good!

Perfect for surf rods
Absolutely love these! The keep at least 6 rods secure while driving, with zero worry they will detach. I love the ratchet-lock design, as you may have thicker handles or thin ones, but the pressure of the rubber seats keep them all nice and tight. I have had no issues with rattle or the bases coming loose.
Only issue you may watch out for: If you have long rods, such as a 13' Spey, the tips will bow and flex a lot in the wind. I keep those in the back of my SUV when traveling on freeways at high speeds, but transfer to the racks when on the river.

Works well on my Yakima Rack & Roll trailer. Easy to load rods. The rods are locked into place but reels are still somewhat vulnerable to theft if someone is really inclined to go after them. Therefore, when I'm using this, I don't leave my car and trailer anywhere I can't keep an eye on it.
Every time I order from etrailer I am worried about the product fitting my vehicle. No worries. It always does. Just put in the vehicle you have in the search box and all will be good. The fishing rod / ski/ snowboard carrier is great. Designed well and easy to assemble. There is enough adaptability in the product that it would probably fit any vehicle's crossbars. Once built, it is easily removed and placed onto the vehicle. The videos that etrailer has on it's site are super helpful.
Hi Greg, I mounted it on top of my boat and used it just once to hold some fishing rods to get them out of the way while towing the boat. The rack works great and I like the locking feature. Good quality product.
This reel deal fishing rack is indeed the real deal. Its got heavy duty construction, spring loaded arms that stay up, nice side buttons with built in locks, the clamps are completely adjustable, the rubber is heavy duty but flexible.. I mean, when I assembled the pieces i was very impressed. Well done Yakima and thanks etrailer for getting it to Hawaii so quickly!! Plenty of things take 30+ days getting here… y’all did it in less than a week. Thanks for the great product and the great service!
Great service and fast shipping from etrailer. My only issue with the product is that it only fits 4 of my large offshore Shimano Terez poles with Shimano SW25000 reels aternating them facing forward and backward. Product was easy to install and holds the 4 rods/reels tightly. Fortunately, the carrier is small enough that I can fit two of them side by side on my roof rack so I will order a second one to accomodate all 8 pf my rods/reels.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I am able to hold all 5 of my rods and reels of varying sizes and can easily add more if I want. And thanks to George J from etrailer for keeping me up to date on my order status!
Seems sturdy enough, however, the mounting hardware is bulky looking which takes away from it. There is no option for T-Slot mounting like the Rhino-Rack product which is also cheaper. If they made a T-Slot adapter kit like they do for their ski racks it would look sleeker and sit lower......Yakima, are you listening?

The ReelDeal has been an great addition to my fishing arsenal. If and when I get a new vehicle I will be using this product even if it’s a truck. Note you might get a slight wind whistle at highway speeds. For me this happens when I have no rods in it. It’s very faint and isn’t bothersome IMO
