Video Transcript for Review of Yakima Lift Brackets - Y8860037

Hello, neighbors. Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at the lift brackets for your Yakima ReelDeal or Big PowderHound and the PowderHound carriers. So folks, these brackets do provide just extra clearance for your equipment when used with your Yakima ReelDeal, Big PowderHound or the PowderHound carriers. They are a direct replacement for Yakimas, and those carriers must be produced after 2006 for these to work. Again, folks, it's gonna provide extra space of lift between the carrier itself and the roof of the vehicle, and it's gonna help fit larger skis, snowboard bindings, or even reels from, like, a fishing pole or something.

You're gonna get the two lift brackets, the carriage bolts, screws, and the wing nuts included. High density plastic, molded perfectly to fit your Yakima products. They do have the included nut inside of there, and again, the carriage bolt screws and everything matches up accordingly. Again, folks, direct replacement from Yakima. I'm Steve.

Thanks for watching. Have a great day.

  • Fishing Rod Carriers With Lifters For Extra Clearance For Larger Reel Rods
The Yakima ReelDeal # Y04089 is the only rod holder that has the lifter brackets # Y8860037 to lift the carrier to gain extra clearance. You could get the Yakima FatCat # Y03095 which has lifter brackets built in. This is marketed towards ski and snowboards but can be used with fishing rods too. Either of these options will give you the clearance you need.

  • Questions on the Yakima ReelDeal Rooftop Fishing Rod Carrier
The Yakima ReelDeal Rooftop Fishing Rod Carrier, # Y04089 mounts directly above the crossbars of your vehicle. This means the cross bars determine the placement/spread between the two clamps. So when it is stated to break down rods longer than 7 feet, this is a cautionary statement due to the flex of rods on that forward clamp. Some rods may have too much flex fom the headwinds and cause issues while driving. The # Y04089 comes with needed mounting hardware that has adjustments available....

  • How To Determine the Correct Riser for the Yakima PowderHound Ski Carrier
There are two different Yakima PowderHound Ski Carriers. The early model which was manufactured from 1999 to 2004 and the late model which was manufactured from 2006-2009. I can tell from the photo you submitted that you have the early model due to both the mounting brackets it uses and the lack of a tab below the red button which was introduced in 2000 therefore you need the Replacement Ski Lift Kit for Yakima PowderHound and ButtonDown Ski Carriers Made Before 2006 part # 8830017 not...

  • Yakima ReelDeal Dimension Fit
Glad you like the Yakima ReelDeal Rooftop Fishing Rod Carrier # Y04089. This clamshell style has a thick rubber portion to conform around the rods and can be used for ski's and snow boars as well. The measurement from the top of this rubber piece to the bottom of the clamp that attaches/rests to roof rack is 3-1/4" this rubber piece is 1" in height before compression. • Recommendation for How to Increase Clearance of Yakima Subaru Buttondown on 2008 Mercury Mariner
For the regular Yakima ButtonDown you would need to use MightyMounts # Y03590 to attach the carrier to the factory crossbars if they are not larger than 4 inches wide and 1-1/2 inches tall. If you have the ButtonDown Aero then you can use # Y8860040. This item is a single unit so you would need 4 of them total. This foot will fit crossbars up to 3-7/8 inches wide or 1-1/4 inches tall. I do have a good solution for raising this rack further away from the vehicle to allow you to fit those...
