How Does The Yakima ReelDeal Rooftop Fishing Rod Carrier Attach To Crossbars?

Question:

Yakimas website shows the Reeldeal will mount to the LockNLoad rack. How dies it mount? Does it mount to the rack crossmembers as it would a standard cross bar? Or is there some other mounting hardware needed?

Hello Todd. The Yakima ReelDeal Rooftop Fishing Rod Carrier # Y04089 uses clamps to mount to the crossbars. The clamps are adjustable so they can be made to fit virtually any crossbar size or shape. The ReelDeal is clamp-on only so this must be how it attaches to the LockNLoad platform.

@JesseM They worked out great. Have been using them for about 1.5 years at this point. Several trips from PA to ME and NJ shore. No issues.

@ToddP That’s great to hear, thanks for the update. A year and a half of use with multiple long trips and no issues says a lot about the clamp-on setup. Glad the ReelDeal has been a solid fit on your LockNLoad rack. Sounds like you’ve gotten to enjoy some good fishing up that way too.
