This J-style kayak carrier lets you transport 1 kayak on your roof rack, while leaving room on your roof for a second kayak, bike rack, or cargo carrier. Includes load straps, tie-downs, and mounting hardware.

This J-style carrier is always ready to go when you are. Fixed arms hold your kayak on its side, leaving plenty of room on your crossbars for another kayak rack, a bike rack, or a cargo carrier. Padding on the arms and base protect your kayak from scratches and scuffs during transport.
If you have a taller vehicle, you may need to remove the carrier to fit into the garage.
The carrier includes 2 cam-buckle straps to secure your kayak to the rack. A set of bow/stern tie-downs are also included to secure the kayak to the front and back of your vehicle. If your vehicle doesn't have any tie-down points, you can get an anchor kit (sold separately) which will let you create anchor points in the creases of your vehicle's hood and hatch.
The carrier clamps to most crossbars without the need for tools. Simply set the rack on your crossbars, slide the mounting brackets over the bolts, and secure them with the T-knobs.

These were exactly what I needed. Wanted something that had the ability to use the t-slot as the VW cross bars don't fit the universal adapters easily. With the Malone t-slot adapter kit these fit perfectly.
Good product, used primarily as a kayak rack location, originally was on a nissan frontier but the adjustability has allowed me to put it on a chevy 2500 now. All in all, great product.
I've owned several different kayak j-hooks, but the Malone racks are definitely made with superior quality. I would definitely purchase them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for kayak racks.
The product was just what I ordered. I'm expanding my kayak trailer to hold up to 4, so I ordered wider cross bars and another carrier. A little frustrating to find it was not really in stock, however, communication from the etrailer team was outstanding.
Very cool system. I put these on an atv trailer and now I can safely transport 4 kayaks. Installed in about one hour and thirty minutes. I highly recommend this product.
We purchased two of these Malone Racks. Installation went smoothly and the quality of the product was very good. They hold our two kayaks securely for transport. We use them weekly so we leave them installed on the roof of the car all the time. I check them regularly to ensure they have not become loose but I have never had to retighten them.
We also purchased Malone cross bars to which these racks attach. There was a manufacturing defect on the cross bars but etrailer replaced the parts quickly and we are pleased with the resultant product.
They feel sturdy enough,easy to install om Malone kayak trailer. We'll see how they hold you to Gulf of Mexico salt air.

And they fit perfectly with the Malone crossbars for my 2019 Equinox. Customer Service via chat helped me find the one and only pair that would fit those crossbars. So glad I found etrailer.
These kayak carriers do exactly what we wanted them to do. They hold the kayak safely and securely. Easy to use and easy to install or remove. Our only problem was that we had to but longer carriage bolts for it to work on our Nissan Xterra. I definitely recommend this product. I just wish they included longer bolts.
I had these welded to my trailer for a variety of reasons and this has worked outperfectly. Loading the kayaks is a breeze and no hassle with taking the J holders on and off. This was a great purchase!
Works as it's suppose to, but the foam tears easily as after the first use I saw the bottom foam start to tear already.

I'm writing this review after one year of ownership. I bought two sets of these J-hooks alongside a Malone Airflow 2 roof rack for our 2009 Subaru Forester. I use them to haul a 10ft and 12ft kayak simultaneously. They've done an excellent job and have held up on both short 20-minute drives to local lakes as well as on 10-hour road trips. I'm very satisfied with the combination of the rack and these carries.
My only complaint is that you also need to buy the "Aero Style Crossbar T-Slot Fit Kit for Malone Kayak Carriers" pack separately for each set of J-hooks. This part allows you to more securely fasten the hooks to your roof rack. I wouldn't have been comfortable taking kayaks on a road trip using the J-Pro2s without this extra ability to secure them down. I wish the two items came together instead of having to buy them separately. That said, they do the job exceptionally well, so it's not a dealbreaker in my eyes.
We just received our Malone J-Pro2 kayak racks. I put them on our roof racks yesterday and liked the apparent quality of these racks. Unfortunately I have a shoulder injury right now so we can't check them out functionally for at least a few more weeks, but my brother uses and highly recommends these racks so I expect to be well pleased with them.
I’ve bought several products from etrailer and they are all quality and well packaged. After some research on what are the best kayak racks for my uses, every site brought me to Amazon. So when I found these Malone racks I tried to see if they were on etrailer and thankfully they were. I bought 2 pairs and they both came packaged very securely with no room for movement, as always 5 stars for etrailer packaging and customer service. As for the bars: heavy duty, made of steel so they have the strength that aluminum bars would lack. The foam pads are incredibly good quality with a fabric sleeve over them which protects even more. Even the straps are very good, tried to test the strength by pulling and they wouldn’t budge, exactly what you want. They fit perfectly on my rack (I have the Malone aero bars). All in all fantastic product with even better customer service
I bought two sets of these to go on the Malone trailer I bought last year from etrailer and they are the perfect solution for my paddling gear. I have these mounted on the outside of the bars, leaving plenty of room for my canoe to slip in between our two kayaks. The price was right and shipping was over a month in coming, but with the virus causing delays it was to be expected. etrailer kept me updated and let me know the day they came in and were ready to be shipped. A quality company that I highly recommend. Thanks to you all at etrailer !
Work perfectly to hold kayaks. The ties that come with them and accompanying instructions are the easiest way to secure the kayaks. the ties always run smoothly through the buckles, unlike some other ties we have tried.

Still working well! We haul 3 kayaks or paddle boards with Malone u racks. Recently got a double hitch and used it to put bicycle rack in front of trailer.

I ordered the Malone J-pro2 kayak rack. The order was processed within 2 hours, and on my doorstep 2 evenings later. The Malone rack system is some of the better quality items you can find, and ETrailer is hands down one of the most proficient companies I've dealt with. If they have it, and you're looking for it, I strongly suggest you go through them. They're the wise choice.
Wish the rack was taller to provide a little better support for my fishing kayaks. These would be great for kayaks narrower than the two I have. They do work but I make sure they are strapped down well.
Ordered a replacement J Hook part and a new set of J-hooks from etrailer. Both work great, and the price was right. The delivery was quick too (paid for 3 day delivery but came in 2 days!)

One year update - no further issues to report. I dont use the Airflow 2 roof rack unless Im transporting kayaks via J-hooks, so I usually leave them secured to the rack when I hang them on my garage pegboard. It makes installing them only take about 5 minutes because it eliminates the need to attach both the rack and j-hooks each time I just secure the rack and load up my kayaks. I still wish the additional fit kit came with the J-Pro2s! Please make that a reality or set up an offer to bundle them together.
