These heavy-duty crossbars are built from aluminum and designed to handle serious weight. With a 220-lb capacity, they’re ready for kayaks, canoes, or contractor gear without flexing or wobbling. The solid build gives you the stability you need for long trips and tough jobs while keeping overall weight down.
Everything you need comes in one setup—2 Heavy Duty crossbars, four 2500 Series legs, and a custom fit kit. The parts work together to create a sturdy base on your naked roof. No extra components to guess at or piece together later—just a clean, straightforward install that locks into place securely.
The square-bar design has top channels that make it simple to mount Rhino-Rack Heavy Duty accessories. Ladder rollers, load stops, and eyebolts slide right in so you can configure your setup for the workday or your next weekend outing. Rubber strips in the channels help cushion your load and add slip resistance while keeping things quiet on the road.
Each leg includes a lockable cover plate so you can secure the rack to your roof when you’re away from your vehicle. The locked covers protect the mounting hardware and keep everything tight and tamper-resistant, giving you peace of mind when your gear stays mounted overnight.
The system’s aluminum bars resist corrosion and hold up through changing seasons. The crossbars include a limited lifetime warranty, with the legs covered for 5 years and the fit kit also carrying a limited lifetime warranty. You can count on it staying strong after miles of hauling kayaks, cargo boxes, or work gear.

I give all 5 stars for the product and service, but...I prefer the parts to be all in one carboard, also I was a little panicking looking for blue plastic key...It was inside of cross-bar not falling out with strips. Anyway,
I"m owner of Honda cr-v 2022 with bare roof ,and I just installed the rack. Was it simple enough? Yes,so I can share this:
First, rubber pads are all the same, and after placements to plastic legs should be placed with arrow*out*-that is it (a lot of info regarding vertical parts, that they are all different) Second, on other hand, in video we informed that clamps are same -they are not. Bigger "hooks" are for rear bar, smaller ones-for the front one.
Third, do not expect precision in rubber pads position(especially on rear bar)regarding plastic rail strips on bare roof.it is not achievable, just try to make same look on both sides.
I was worried about rain and water gets inside. Well, let us see.
What I plan to care on rack? Just a small 6ft step ladder. Believe me or no CR-V is my business vehicle ,and ladder carry was the goal of rack purchase. And only question I have if I can get to underground parking with no problems to cross the front entries usually limited with 6 ft in heights I will find out soon, but rack height plus ladder on it makes me worry. The review will be update soon. regards.
Great rack. Easy to assemble and install. Mine is the one that attaches to the door frame. No issues with scratching the paint or any movement. I’ve used this on many camping trips and the extra space has been great! Really like the look of it on the CRV too.
1) The Rhino Rack system fit my car and works well. Make sure to measure everything twice before you order to make sure you get the right fit kit. 2) By contrast, etrailer was not a reliable seller and I won't turn to them again for gear. They sent me a kit that had obviously been half assembled and then returned by an earlier customer. I accept that they need to resell return items. However, they did not ensure that all the pieces were enclosed, and several custom bolts were missing. Customer service gave me a big run-around, delaying my installation, but eventually sent the missing bolts several weeks later. In sum: good product but bad buying experience.
High-quality, sturdy rails, but noisy. There was a pronounced and audible whistle driving with these racks at any common road or highway speed (with the rubber inserts installed across the top). I have since replaced these rails with the Rhino vortex aero style (change of vehicles and the HD bars did not fit the new car). Having used both types several times, I would recommend the aero style over the HD if you have the option.
Overall I love the rack! Structurally, I have had zero issues confidently carrying gear on my roof of my 2016 CR-V on washboard dirt doads. My only issue is that the rack did not come with enough vortex strip inserts to fit into both aero bars so now they catch wind and create a whistling noise at speeds above 30 mph. I tried buying additional Rhino Rack brand vortex strips but for some reason they would not stay attached to the rack and gradually fell off. I closed off the slots that the strips fit into with electrical tape, an ugly but effective solution. If it were not for the whistling noise, I’d happily give them 5 stars but it can be annoying on longer drives so that is why I gave the bars 4 stars. Overall, great buy for the money!
I think the Rhino Rack is an excellent product. The only problem I have is that my Thule bike rack brackets do not fit because the rack has wider rails. They were designed for the standard ~1" square Thule rails. Do you have additional Thule bracket kits that would fit the wider Rhino rails? Note that the rack works very well for carrying a canoe or kayak.
Mechanically it works fine but .. the "howl" due to wind resistance is unacceptable. We did a one way trip with our kayak on top but on return without the kayak ( bare rails) we stopped to remove the roof rack due to the excessive noise. I do realize that you offered a "streamlined bar version" but didn't anticipate the loudness of the item we purchased. Is there a way to dampen that effect?
When storing the assembled rails the "pads" are not fixed to the rail/legs and come off (and get separated) I have resorted to trying them on to prevent loss. Nice if they could be better attached.
The roof rack arrived without "modified" roof width instructions which I assume you have now fixed. Not a big deal but it required a few phone calls to determine the correct mounting width.
Great product, fit was spot on with correct vehicle specific parts. Etrailer
was fantastic to work with. Great communication and feedback, worked through a small problem with positive outcome. Will definitely purchase from them again, their customer service department is top notch.
I am very pleassed with our rhino rack serieus 2500 roof rack. It is very sturdy. We also like the idea that it is removeable and very easy to take on and off. We bought 2 sets of Malone J Pro 2 Kayak Carriers from another company that were suppose to fit with the rhino rack but the bolts were too short. Just a warning if you were planning to get those to go with the rhino rack. We were able to contact Malone and they sent us longer bolts so they should fit now.
I was looking for roof racks for a Honda CRV to haul my kayaks. Found a "great deal" on a square tube Rhino Rack through etrailer.com and snatched it up. Upon receipt I had trouble fitting the racks to the vehicle per the enclosed Rhino Rack instructions - they just didn't look right when mounted to the vehicle. I contacted Rhino Rack by e-mail looking for a video or photos showing the racks on a CRV to confirm how they should look and was informed that the square tube style rack had been discontinued. They offered to send me new aero tubes at no charge. I admitted that I felt bad accepting the offer but, if they wanted to do that, I would gladly accept. The new aero tubes arrived and the assembly went together exactly as I imagined. I have yet to use the racks for hauling kayaks, but have hauled lumber, ladders, and various other long articles on the racks. They have performed very well, are easy to install and remove, and look good on the vehicle. Yes, they do add a bit of wind noise when driving but even that was not nearly as bad as expected. Based on the pricing I received from etrailer.com and beyond customer service I received from Rhino Rack,
I would not hesitate to recommend both companies to anyone.
Great product everything fit perfectly. With the heavy duty bars almost all the hardware for anything you put on the rack is too short
Ordered a Rhino Rack for my 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali. Rack arrived in very good shape and all items were there. Installing at this time and see no problems ahead.
Awesome rack. I found a good Rhino Rack assembly and installation video which made the process easy. My rack arrived two days early so I am all set for the weekend.
Got this fit kit for a Rhino Rack system, and the process of ordering (through Becky) and getting it in a timely manner was great. Fits like a glove, and no problems using it with a cargo box on top.
E-trailer takes the guesswork out of ordering a roof rack especially for a naked roof. All the parts arrived in one box. You must follow the instructions very close and confirm the spec sheet for your vehicle. By doing this the process was pretty easy but took a little time. This is a project you want to take your time with and you can still do it in 90 min to two hours. E-trailer is always my go to store for vehicle related items. Their products and support are excellent.
Thanks to Etrailer, I am ready to do some serious summer exploring with my 2013 Mazda 3! Rhino Racks, Malone top box, and Kuat bike rack!
Fairly easy to install onto my 2017 Honda CR-V. The crossbars feel very sturdy and are securely attached to the vehicle. Took me about 30 minutes to get it installed and could be done even quicker if you get help from another person. The bars themselves are a little fat so my Thule ski rack has a super tight fit. There is very minimal wind noise, so I'll probably be getting a fairing for that. The instructions felt a bit jumbled but with just the measurements alone, you can install it with a bit of common sense.
I am normally a exclusive Amazon shopper, but etrailer gives equal or better service and has specialty items you just can't find anywhere else. The pricing is great also. This is my 4th order from them on this project and the response has been perfect and the shipping has been prompt. They even offered to take back an item that I did not need. I desperately wanted to mount my 19ft Kayak on my new RV and with some Rhino RT tracks, a Rhino Nautic kayak lifter, a few really heavy duty rivets, and some ingenuity, I was able to accomplish the task. I am replacing the current Nautic bars with the heavy duty bars. See the attached pictures.
We received our rhino rack system, and in just over an hour we had it installed, the kayaks loaded and were on the toad.
We have had our rack about a year now. We have had no issues, except perhaps remembering to tighten the mounts every so often but that is us being lax.
Fit my Honda CRV perfectly and the whole kit was easy to install. The cargo box I ordered for in the racks perfectly. Of course there was some noise when traveling, and also reduced gas mileage, but that is to be expected. The very slight whistle when driving at higher speeds was easy to tune out. Service from etrailer was great and shipping was quick! I also appreciate all of the information and tutorials available. Would order from this company again.
This review is for the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Aluminum-Silver crossbars and
associated legs and custom fit kit (RRVA137s-2, DK284, RRRLKVA) necessary for a naked roof installation on a 2018 Honda CR-V. Just enter the model and year of your vehicle and etrailers website will tell you exactly what additional items are necessary to complete the install. etrailers installation instructions and videos are very helpful. The installation document provided is for more than one vehicle and for more than one style rack, so take your time to understand witch measurements apply to your installation and refer to the installation video if necessary. ON that note: The measurements given for front rack did not fit as nicely on the roof as the rear rack, I adjusted the the front rack measurements slightly. I would suggest trial fitting on your vehicle before cutting the metric rulers to final length. Stick On tags are supplied to indicate front, rear and the location to install on your vehicle. Once the rails are adjusted and tagged you can remove and reinstall the racks very quickly. Korren was very helpful in keeping me informed as to availability of items in stock and email shipping tracking. I am very satisfied with etrailers customer service and happy with the appearance and functionality of the Rhino racks.
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.
This review covers the Rhino Rack 2500 Vortex Aero crossbars and associated parts (DK284, RRRLKVA, RRVA137S-2) for a naked roof installation on a 2018 Honda CR-V.
Very solid racks. We just took our first trip using them and the didn't budge. As recommended, a few days after installing, I tightened the bolts a bit. I'm not sure they needed it--just a little insurance.
The installation process was clear, but fairly detailed. It would be easy to miss a step, so take your time. Also, I tried a couple shortcuts in the order when installing on the car, but had to back track. So, go in the order they give you.
The racks easily supported our filled "pod" and a couple surfboards, strapped side-by-side. Sorry, no photos of the rack loaded. One thing to watch out for is that our old Thule pod almost didn't fit because of the thickness of the racks. I had to loosen the bolts almost entirely.
Of note: I feel that although I followed the measurements to the millimeter, the fit on our 2018 Honda CR-V wasn't exact. Where the pads sit on the roof of the car didn't align perfectly. I could have adjusted this by just re-trimming the rubber pads that go in the channels, but it's not a big deal, so I just left it.
Finally, I do have one concern. The angle of final installation doesn't really protect the racks from theft very well. The plastic plate that locks over the screw would allow someone with the proper tool to get up under it and loosen the bolts. That being said, someone so inclined could also just break the little plastic door or drill a hole in it to access the bolt. So, I guess it's just a deterrent anyway.
Overall, I'm very happy with the racks and etrailer.com! Despite shipping delays due to Covid-19, they were able to get the racks to me in time for an upcoming trip. I did choose to expedite shipping, but the cost was very reasonable.
I bought the rhino rack for my 2013 CRV to haul my kayak. Installation was pretty simple and easy to understand. It is super sturdy and strong. Spent significantly less going with the Rhino Rack name over Thule or Yakima and I'm very happy with how strong this rack is. It's rated up 165lbs witch is plenty for me. The staff at etrailer was very helpful with upgrading my order to 2 day shipping once I realized I needed to get my rack asap to get some striped bass in the bay with my kayak. I just called and in 5mins had my order from regular to 2 day shipping. I will use these guys for whatever else I might need rack wise.
The clamps fit well on my 2014 Honda CRV. I took my time reading the instructions and attaching the cross rails to ensure proper attachment, and found the fit to work great. The clamps work well on the contour of the CRV.
I took a test drive, and did not encounter any problem.
Aloha from Hawaii!

Great, I took the rack off for the winter and the roof looks excellent, no scratches or marks of anykind.
