Roof Rack for 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited With Aftermarket Hard Top to Transport 2 Kayaks

Question:
I have a 2009 Jeep Unlimited with a non factory hardtop, no drip rails. I need a roof rack that is capable of carrying 2 kayaks. I know that I will have to drill and mount the system to my hardtop, but I do not know which one to use or what there is available. Thank you for any help you can offer.

The roof racks that we offer for the 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, such as the Rhino-Rack System consisting of parts # RB1375B-2, # RLT500 and # RTC95JW, are intended for use on the OEM hardtop. This system when mounted on the factory hardtop has a maximum cargo weight capacity of 65-lbs. This limit is not a function of the rack materials, but rather the capacity of the OEM roof, and therefore is the same for all other roof racks we offer for your Wrangler.
Without knowing the brand and model of your aftermarket hard top I cannot state that any roof rack when mounted to it will have the capacity you need for transporting two kayaks. It is quite possible that you will not be able to load the weight of these two watercraft on your Wrangler no matter what hard top and roof rack are installed. Even lighter beginner's kayaks typically weigh about 40-lbs, so even one of these when added to the 10-lb weight of the rack itself (which must be accounted for) may put you over the limit.
I suggest you check with the maker of your hard top to confirm its capacity before installing a roof rack or loading cargo on the vehicle roof.
