Video Transcript for JR Products Compact Low Pressure 2-Stage Automatic Changeover RV LP Gas Regulator Review

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out this automatic changeover regulator from JR Products. What this is going to do is it's going to help you, obviously, regulate the propane in your rig, but it's automatically going to switch over when one tanks down. So right now, the lever's pointed to this tank. When this one reaches its end, it's automatically going to switch over to this one. That way when you come back out here next time, you'll switch a lever over to primarily focus on this one and you can replace this one without worrying about any gas escaping or anything like that but continue to have propane.

Let's check it out.A way it helps you figure out which tank is empty is this gauge here. I'm going to open up this propane and you'll see the gauge will turn to green. Now you know that this one has propane it. So it sensing that it has propane. It's going to be fine.

There's no reason to change the readout. Now, if I flip it over to this one, you're going to watch it slowly switch over and realize there's no propane in this one because I have the valve shut off. With that in mind, just because it's red doesn't mean both tanks are drained. You'll want to switch it over to the other one, you see green and knows this one's full and you're still good to go and you can replace this one now. Now, we worked with two different regulators today. Both of these are from JR Products, but the only difference is this one's a little bit bigger and has extra screw holes.

Otherwise, it's the same thing. Functions the exact same way. You just want to go with the bigger one if you have more appliances that are drawing propane off of it. So like I said, you got way more stuff running off it, you're going to need a bigger regulator to regulate the propane. It's going to help you out with both of your tanks just the same.

Chances are if you're checking this out, it's time to replace your old one. Here's the old one here. We went ahead and removed that, and you needed to do that every 10 years. They recommend it because it's got a rubber diaphragm on the inside that eventually wears out, then you're going to get less pressure. Now, that goes the same with your propane tanks. So if you do them at the same time, that'll work out. If you don't replace your propane tanks and you just get them refilled, up to 10 years it's time to get them reinspected to make sure they're still okay to use. You'll have to take them to a propane place to get them inspected and approved to use.Another thing to think about when you're going to replace your regulator is the hoses that go with it. You want to make sure you get the right ones that have the right connections. We have the inverted connector here. You can see it's smaller than the outside grip, and then we have the NPT connection and you can see that that threaded part matches the outside grip. So that's an easier way to tell just by looking at it and going, "Oh, okay. The bigger one that comes all the way out to the end, that's the NPT, and this is going to be the inverted." If you look at our regulator, it uses the inverted. So you can just come in here and screw it in that way. If we we're going to try and use the NPT, clearly too big. It's not going to thread in there. Looking at the outlet down here, this is going to be sized at 3/8" and it has an FPT connection. So another thing about when going with the lines you're going to be running to it, make sure that matches up with the one that goes to your rig. It's pretty straight forward. That's how the regular works and how you would replace it. But how does it install It was pretty easy. So let's check out how we did it. This is what it's going to look like when you get it. Now, we added a bracket to our regulator that JR Products also offers that's on our website, because the old bracket wouldn't work with our new regulator. It didn't had four screws in it, and the screw spacings didn't match up with this one. This one's an inch apart. So that's something else to look at when you're going to get your replacement. Make sure the bracket matches so you can attach it, that way you can attach it over there too.So first off, I put one screw in there already. Going to simply put the second one in. That way we attach the regulator to the bracket. I'll show you the back of the regulator here in a second. You can see it's got the spaces there where the screws go in. So it's as easy as lining the bracket up and screwing it in. We're going to attach our output hose to the bottom here, the regulator. It's easier to do that before you install the regulator because you can easily just spin it like that and attach that bottom hose. Get it nice and tight. Looks good. Now you can go ahead and set the bracket down on top, because there is a hole just for it and then we'll add our wing nut to hold it in place. Again, want to get it nice and tight. Just going to push down on this bracket and this bracket keeping everything in place. Now we're going to add our other hose. It's easier to screw in this side, which would be our inverted side first, and then attach this side to the propane tank. You're all set. It really is that simple. It installed very easily. It works great. I like that I can switch over to this tank if I need to, but I don't have to. If this tank runs out, it's automatically going to come over here while I'm inside. I don't have to leave the camper if it's cold. I really like that. It makes it easier, and I know I'm covered for the next 10 years. That does it for our look at this regulator. Hope this helped.

@Harry We're glad the # 37207-31525 propane regulator is working well for you. Thanks for the kind words, we're happy we could help!

by:

I installed this in my 1999 E350 ambulance-to-camper conversion last year. I mounted two #30 tanks in what used to be the oxygen compartment. It works very smoothly and quietly even with the water heater, fridge and stove on, with no humming or chattering.

by:

I found exactly what I was looking for. Quality product, timely delivery, easy installation. Thanks for being there e-trailer!

by:

Easy install. Good dual stage replace ment.

by:

Looking forward to installing this for a propane customer!

by:

Product as described replaced the previous one and hole pattern matched perfectly.

One year review. No issues.

So far
so good!

No issues at all. Great product.

by:

Product worked as expected.

by:

Just what I ordered and arrived on time

by:

Good service and product. Received order quicker then expected. I have used this company before and will use again if needed in the future

by:

This appears to be working fine and with a little finagling with the fittings I made it work, and as stated earlier accessories ordered weren’t up to par.

by:

Arrived damaged. switch was broken off. Packaging was intact so I think e-trailer received it in a damaged condition.
Can't rate the product until it is replaced and installed. I returned the damaged regulator to you by UPS, but before it could have arrived at your shop, George J. from e-trailer had already shipped a replacement to me and it arrived yesterday. In addition to George's concern over my shipment, I heard from others on your staff including Mike B. and Kailey I. You folks go the extra mile to satisfy your customers. I would rate your customer service at 5 stars for sure.

by:

Product works great and delivery was on time

by:

Arrived very fast

by:

Fit and worked great.

by:

The product is great and due to a recent shortage of what I needed the team worked with me and kept me updated on the order status as info became available. Great place for parts and I will be a repeat customer.

It is absolutely perfect. The original regulator had the handle and gauge on the front so seeing it meant removing the tank cover but with this new one I can easily make adjustments and see what I need to see by only flipping open the lid.

by:

This worked well for replacing a recalled unit on a Keystone trailer. Had to replace the tank hoses because the fittings are different but those ought to be looked at periodically anyway.

by:

bean working great so far

by:

Two mounting screws, come on, I bent the screws as I was attempting to install the out line and the two in line valves. Very poor design. I jus hope they will withheld the vibration of the trailer as we are traveling. The are already bent and the main housing may be damage.

by:

Replacement was easy and pretty much straight forward. Seems to be working as expected (no leaks and all appliances work) The selector lever is broken (small piece around the base) but, not significant enough that I'm going to wait around for a replacement and send one back. Too much hassle for something that is aesthetic. Likely happened when the carrier crushed the shipping container (looks like from a conveyor jam).

by:

One side stopped working efficiently. Reads low when one tank is at least half way full still, half a tank is weeks (multiple) worth of propane for me. Now instead of auto change over I have to use only one side to use all available propane. I will be replacing this unit soon, which is a bit disappointing after a year.

by:

Products arrived and seem ok. Packaging was garbage with packaged items opened during transit and parts laying in box.

by:

Ordered unit in January. Gauge started malfunctioning in June. Whole unit failed in September and now leaks at valve switch. Contacted the manufacturer and they said their warranty was only to the reseller not for the customer. Unit was great when it worked but 6 months lifespan is rediculus. Not being warrenties is worse.

by:

The regulator was as described. However, it did not include the mounting bracket. When I call Etrailer I was told it did not say it was included. It also did NOT say it was not included.
I was told the bracket was shown on the very bottom of the page.
How many people would think to look further? It should state that the bracket is not included in the description.

The optional mounting bracket that we offer is part # 37207-30405. We have added to the product description page that the bracket is sold separately.

I needed a question answered about choosing the right regulator, and got a very comprehensive answer in a very short amount of time. Great customer service

  • What Propane Regulator Should I Use as a Replacement on My 2015 Grand Design Reflection Model 303RLS
Both the Automatic Changeover RV LP Gas Regulator # 37207-30395 and the Compact Low Pressure 2-Stage Automatic Changeover RV LP Gas Regulator # 37207-31525 will work as a replacement for your 2015 Grand Design Reflection Model #303RLS. The only difference in the two is the # 37207-30395 is a larger regulator which will allow you to run more appliances on propane. If you don't have many appliances drawing propane the # 37207-31525 will work.

  • Is A Regulator Needed For A Trailer's Propane System If There's Already One On The Stove
Yes, you would still need to have a regulator for your trailer's propane system. All RV ovens/stoves typically have a regulator built into them to ensure that the pressure is correct for the appliance. The Furrion RV Cooktop # FGH4ZSASS you were looking at for example, has a one built in as well (pictured below). 1/2 psi is about 11-13" water column, which is pretty standard for the regulator connected to your trailer's propane system. Typically the rest of the appliances that run off of...

All of the RV regulators we carry are going to work down the output pressure to 11" water column. That pressure will always stay the same but the amount of BTU's you can spread between the appliances can vary depending on the regulator. For a dual stage automatic changeover propane regulator we have two options; the JR Products # 37207-30395 (345,000 BTU) and # 37207-31525 (262,500 BTU). • Will 2-Stage Automatic Changeover Propane Regulator Emit Propane Smell
I'm glad you asked, because there should not be an odor of propane coming from anywhere, including the vent, of your automatic changeover propane regulator. You are correct that a regulator should absolutely last longer than just a couple years (most are meant to be replaced approximately 15 years) but on occasion they do go bad, which is what happened with yours and why it is emitting the odor of gas. So you will definitely want to replace yours with the Compact Low Pressure 2-Stage...
