MB Sturgis Propane Fittings - 100473-30-MBS

  • Hoses
  • Pigtail Hoses
  • 1/4 Inch - Male NPT
  • Type 1 - Female
  • MB Sturgis

Pigtail makes the connection from the propane tanks on your trailer to the propane regulator. Also used to connect tanks to a high-pressure regulator to carry gas to a 2-stage regulator. Check valve prevents hazardous backflow leakage.

Features:

  • Propane pigtail connects your propane cylinder to a regulator
    • Used for single or dual tank setups on the front of your travel trailer
    • Also used to connect a remote tank to a high-pressure regulator
  • Female Type 1 fitting connects to the valve on your propane cylinder
  • Male NPT connects to a propane regulator
  • Built-in bypass mode shuts gas off when flow reaches maximum capacity for safety
    • Thermal shut-off device turns off gas flow in extreme heat caused by open flame
    • Excess-flow safety device limits gas flow in the event of a severe leak
  • Durable thermoplastic hose and brass fittings approved for LP gas only
    • Rated for high pressure and high flow rate to handle unregulated propane
    • UL569 and ANSI Z21-81 certified
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Temperature range: -40 F to 140 F
  • Hose dimensions: 30" long x 1/4" inner diameter
  • Hose fittings:
    • Female Type 1
    • 1/4" Male NPT
  • Maximum pressure rating: 350 psi
  • Maximum flow capacity: 450,000 Btu per hour
  • 1-Year limited warranty

This propane hose is ideal for travel trailers with a split-tank system. This kind of system features 1 cylinder on the driver's side and 1 cylinder on the passenger's side of your trailer. This hose connects the cylinder on the passenger's side to a high-pressure regulator. An additional hose (sold separately) will then carry the propane from the high-pressure regulator to the 2-stage regulator on the driver's side of your trailer.

Bypass Mode for Safety

This Type 1 connector will go into bypass mode if the flow rate surpasses the maximum flow capacity for this connector, which is 450,000 Btu per hour. A ball inside of the fitting will push an internal spring down, pressing firmly against the bottom of the fitting to shut off the flow of gas.

When choosing a Type 1 connector, consider your overall propane demands and choose a connector with a flow rate that just exceeds it. That way, you won't trigger the bypass mode during normal use, but it will trigger in the event of a leak. If the bypass valve engages, stop using gas and start checking your connections for leaks.

Perfect length for use in my small camper. Item was not in stock originally and etrailer kept me updated on when the item would ship and asked it I wanted to substitute. I just waited for the this one to come in. When it did arrive the package was labeled 15", but the hose was 30" as desired. Very good customer service.

by:

Very disappointed. This is my second time buying this part. First one failed within a year. Second one lasted less than 3 months with only occasional use. Maybe camped 10 nights over 4 trips before it started leaking. They develop a leak where the hose crimp meets the bottle connector, draining your entire propane tank, not to mention the safety hazard. Complete junk in my opinion.

by:

Perfect fit, and length. Solved my possible gas leak issue.

by:

Quick install and has held up to the travel and some rough roads.

by:

I wish it was one foot longer.

by:

It seems that most propane pigtails longer than 2 feet come with a flare fitting. I needed a 1/4" MPT fitting and was happy to find this 30" pigtail with the MPT fitting. The item seems to be of very good quality.

by:

The hoses arrived on time and were packaged well. When I opened the box, the 2 hoses had the correct part # but were mislabeled 15". The way the hose was coiled up in the packaging it looked very small so I assumed they were 15". I called customer service and Amy was very helpful. Turns out they were 30" like I ordered and not 15". So I installed them the next day and they worked great. These hoses have a safety feature that automatically stops the flow of propane if a line was compromised. My 16 year old hoses were getting very brittle and would randomly restrict the flow of propane making me think I had a problem with my furnace and hot water heater. Problem solved. These are good quality hoses and are reasonably priced. Don't forget to pressure test all your connections.

by:

Works great, but if you get the two way valve (CAM59005) be sure you order the hoses with the right fittings on the end of the hose to fit the regulator / valve assembly. I think I needed the hoses with the 3/8 " female compression fitting and ended up taking the fittings out of the two way valve so these could screw in. Those fittings on the two way may have been check valves which will be needed for when I switch out tanks. If that's the case, I will have to shut off the other tank while I'm having the empty tank filled. But at least I was able to make the hook up. I like the product and the company!

by:

Installed quick connect for 20lb LP tank to heat and cook in my ice shack. Very happy with the purchase of quality hose fittings. Ordered (3) parts. Received shipment with (1) part was wrong. Contacted customer service and was told to keep the wrong item and shipped me the proper item that day.
Would recommend purchasing from etrailer.

by:

Worked perfectly. Replaced hose which was original to our camper—it had developed open spot on it’s exterior liner and wanted longer hose length to route through our new tank cover. Good quality.

by:

I relocated my tank pressure regulator and this gave me just the reach I needed plus renewed flexibility.

by:

Was the perfect replacement for connecting the tank to the popup camper. It's lasted a year in the weather so far.

by:

Was shipped quickly, as I needed it asap for our trip. Direct perfect fit for my RV Camper.

by:

Perfect drop in replacement for my Alto Condo Safari LPG line. Still works great.

by:

No complaints, works great.

  • Does 1/4 Male NPT Propane Hose Have Screen & Ball Inside
No, our 1/4" Male NPT propane hoses do not have a screen with a spring and ball inside. But so long as the fitting is the same you can still use it; the screen won't matter. So for example for a Type 1 x 1/4" Male NPT hose use # 100473-30-MBS.

  • Does MB Sturgis Propane Hose have Back Check
The MB Sturgis Propane Hose w/ Back Check # 100473-30-MBS that you referenced does have the back check feature you are looking for. The internal back-check prevents gas from leaking out of the regulator inlet.

  • Check Valve on MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator
We do have the MB Sturgis Propane Hose, # 100473-30-MBS that has a check valve built in to it if this is a feature you want. But the MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator, # 108072, was not designed with a check valve built in to it.

  • Propane Regulator for MB Sturgis 100473 Propane Hose
Yes, you can use the MB Sturgis 100473 hose with a replacement single-stage regulator, which is what it looks like you need based on your photo. For the regulator you will need the Camco Single Stage Propane Regulator # CAM59013. Then for the 100473 hose you can choose the one you need based on the length: - 12 inches: MB Sturgis Propane Hose - RV Type 1 with Back Check x 1/4" MPT # 100473-12 - 15 inches: MB Sturgis Propane Hose - RV Type 1 with Back Check x 1/4" MPT # 100473-15-MBS -...

  • 12 Propane Pigtail
If you have a 1/4 Inch - Male NPT, I suggest the # 100473-12. If you have a 1/4 Inch - MIF, then I suggest # 100833-12. If you have brass fittings in the inlets on the regulator then you most likely have the inverted flare.

  • Do Propane Regulators have Built in Check Valves
We have pigtails like the MB Sturgis part # 100473-30-MBS which have check valves built into them to prevent propane from filling the second tank but the regulators like the # CAM59323 that you referenced do no have this built in.

  • How Do I Connect Griddle To Propane Tank
If you have a 3/8" male flare fitting on the backside of your regulator that is attached to your griddle, you will need a 3/8" female fitting to make connection and the opposite end of hose will need to have the female POL Type 1 fitting. I suggest the MB Sturgis Propane Hose w/ Back Check - Type 1 x 1/4" MPT - 30", # 100473-30-MBS and then use the Propane Adapter Fitting - 3/8" Female SAE Flare x 1/4" Female NPT, # 37207-30225.

  • Are Back Check Valves Built Into the Leader Hose for a Propane Regulator
Yes, the MB Sturgis Propane Hose w/ Back Check part # 100473-30-MBS would replace the leader hoses on your trailer that lead from the propane tanks to the propane regulator. All of the leader hoses have back check valves. If you would like to upgrade to an auto changeover regulator we do have the Camco Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator part # CAM59005.

  • Need 10 Foot Propane Extension Hose
It looks like you want a 10' hose that connects to a 20 pound tank (with a type-1 connector) on one end, and a heater with a POL female connector (with regulator) on the other end. The first problem I see is the use of two low-pressure regulators. That will most likely result in pressure too low to operate the appliance. A really good solution would be a MB Sturgis # 100914-180-MBS which would connect your heater to your 20 pound propane bottle without the need for any additional pieces....
