Hey, everyone, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Amp Lock King Pin Lock, for Pullrite and Sidewinder pin boxes. So if you're wondering why you may be in the market for a coupler lock, for the King Pin box on your fifth wheel. Well, most of us, we store our fifth wheel at home, we don't necessarily have a lock storage unit to store the trailer in, or garage for that matter. So we could have the trailer sitting at home, unattended when we're more at work or on vacation. Or if we're at a campsite, and we're running into town to get supplies, we could also be parked at the camp site full time. So any of those situations, our trailer is gonna left unattended for an extended amount of time.

Therefore, subject to theft. Now we probably always have some sort of worry in the back of our mind, cause I mean, let's face it, these trailers are not cheap at all. So, having it at home unattended when someone could ideally just easily come up, couple the trailer, and take off down the road, it's pretty much an unnerving feeling. And that's where our coupler lock comes into play. With this lock installed, we're not gonna able to couple up to the trailer and take off down the road, without the unique set of keys that come with.

So here's what our coupler lock looks like installed. So the actual material of the lock here is gonna be cast iron, so this thing is very, very durable, pretty much bulletproof. It also has a nice gray powder coated finish on the outside here, to protect it from rust and corrosion, being that it is installed on the outside, subject to the elements. So in regards to compatibility, this particular lock here is gonna be specific for the Reese Revolution and Sidewinder pin boxes, as well as the pin boxes from Pullrite. So the reason that we need a specific trailer pin lock, coupler lock, for these pin boxes, is due to the integrated wedge.

So with the Reese Sidewinder and the Reese Revolution, the pivot point is actually changed. Therefore, we have a wedge here, which gets installed and this stops it from pivoting on the king pin. So the reason that's gonna create an issue for most other trailer coupler locks is because that wedge is actually butted up pretty close to that king pin. Therefore, most coupler locks aren't gonna be able to simply just attach on to that king pin. This lock, however, as you can see, we have the little cutout on the back that's easily gonna clear your wedge.

And just to clear up any confusion, so, the Reese Sidewinder is the aftermarket version, the Reese Revolution is the factory version. They're both the same pin box and it'll work with either of those, as well as Pullrite. So if you we're already aware, Amp Locked make some of the most bulletproof trailer coupler locks on the market. They're extremely overbuilt and very heavy duty for their application. They're gonna be near impossible to get off without the key. You can't freeze, you can't drill, and you can't pick the lock core. You also can't cut through the cast iron, nor are you gonna be able to pry it off. There's pretty much no way you're getting this lock off, your king pin here, without the keys. So, the keys are actually a little unique. They're not the standard flat keys you would have to get in your home. So this actually uses a tumbler design, which makes the key code very unique, therefore very hard to replicate it. It's also gonna make it near impossible to pick the lock, even for an experienced locksmith. So with your coupler lock here, you're gonna get two of these tumbler keys. And then you're gonna get pretty much a blank here. So, this is particularly, just has our lock core number on there. Luckily, if we do lose our keys, we can get new keys from the manufacturer, so long as we still have this blank. This is just gonna be simply used as the key code reference. So I actually recommend that you store this separately from the key, somewhere inside your vehicle or your home. So just to give you a greater idea of how heavy duty this lock is and that it's not going anywhere. I got a fairly large pry bar here, I'm gonna put some considerable force on that, trying to pin it or pry it off the king pin. As you can see here, with quite a bit of force and even a large pry bar, that thing is not budging. In fact, I would probably end up breaking the pry bar before I was able to get this lock off. So one of the common failures we see here at etrailer in regards to any type of lock, whether that be for a hitch pin lock or a coupler lock, what we have here. So the main issue people have with these is that the locks can actually get seized up and they make it very hard to get it off the item we're trying to secure. With their amp lock here, you can see we have this nice little hinge door, that's gonna provide a weather tight seal to the lock core inside. Therefore, so long as we have the door in place, we're not gonna have to worry about any moisture or dirt and debris getting inside the lock cylinder, and preventing the key from being able to unlock it. So, not that I think you guys are gonna need it by any stretch of the imagination, but our lock here is covered by a five-year warranty for extra peace of mind. So one thing I do want to keep note of, it is important to keep your lock in fully working operational condition. Now, in order to do that, all we have to do is provide some simple maintenance once a year. And that's to simply apply a silicone free lubricant, inside the actual internal locking mechanism. But so long as we do that, we shouldn't have any problems for time to come. To start our installation, we're going to be uncoupling our trailer from the tow vehicle. We're gonna be finding, make sure we find a nice and level surface here to park our trailer on. And then we can actually one step further level our trailer using the landing gear. Now, we're ready to install our coupler lock. On the face of the lock here, we're gonna have this little hinge door. We're gonna open that up to reveal the lock cylinder. We're gonna take the key that comes in our kit. We do have two of them. Insert it into the lock core, and then we're gonna rotate clockwise until we can pull outward. Now, we're going to take the coupler lock here and insert it over the king pin, on our pin box. And we're gonna simply just press in with the lock core and then we'll rotate the keys back to remove them. Now, all we need to do is close the door. When we're ready to tow and remove the coupler lock. It's super simple. Again, rotate the door out of the way, insert one of our two keys, rotate it clockwise, have a hold of the actual coupler lock here, pull outward, and now we can remove. And that's gonna do it today for our look and installation of the AMP lock, kingpin lock, for Pullrite and Sidewinder pin boxes..
