Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, and motorhomes - not approved for fifth wheels or towable campers

This Curt bike rack makes it easy to carry 4 bikes on the back of your vehicle. The platform-style rack is easier to load than a hanging rack because you don't have to lift your bikes nearly as high to get them into place. Ratcheting hooks and wheel hoops accommodate 4 bikes of most shapes and sizes. The entire rack tilts down for easy access to your cargo area, even while the bikes are loaded. And and you can choose between 2 different ways to fold the rack up for storage on your vehicle when it's not in use.

Easily Converts to a 2-Bike Carrier

Carry 4 bikes on this rack for family outings, or easily convert it to a 2-bike carrier for duo or solo rides. To convert the rack to a 2-bike carrier, remove the 2 bolts that hold the outer platform inside the shank of the inner platform. Then simply slide the outer platform out of the shank and stow it in your garage or shed.

Ratcheting Frame Hooks

Each center mast has 2 ratcheting hooks that move up and down independently of one another. This allows you to carry up to 4 bikes of different heights or with different frame styles. The hooks firmly grip your bikes by the top tubes, and they are cushioned to protect your bike frames from scratches and scuffs. Once you slide the hooks into position, just lock them in place.

Adjustable Wheel Hoops

Curt platform bike rack cradles

Sturdy, adjustable wheel hoops let you carry bikes of different lengths. Use the built-in knobs to loosen the hoops. Then slide the hoops to the desired position along the platform base and tighten them into place.

Tilting and Folding Design

Curt platform bike rack in tilted position

The entire rack can be tilted down - away from your vehicle - so that you can easily access your rear cargo area, even when your bikes are loaded. Just pull the pin at the base of the rack to tilt it down.

Curt platform bike rack storage options

There are 2 ways that you can fold up the rack to store it on your vehicle when it's not in use. Option 1 lets you fold the cradle arms up towards the upright masts. Simply remove the pins and fold up the arms. Then replace the pins to secure the arms in the upright position. Option 2 lets you fold the rack up against the rear of your vehicle. First, lower the center masts by removing their pins and clips at the bases and then fold the masts down forward. Then remove the pins from the base of the rack and fold up the carrier.

Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin

Curt platform bike rack anti-rattle hitch pin

This rack comes with an anti-rattle hitch pin. The threaded pin holds the bike rack in your hitch, and it reduces noise and movement of the rack inside your hitch. Because this bike rack has a threaded shank, it is not compatible with standard hitch locks.

  • Recommended Hitch and Bike Rack for a 5th Wheel Camper
The best option to mount a bike rack with your 5th wheel attached is to add a hitch to the 5th wheel and use a hitch-mounted bike rack. For the hitch, I recommend the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, part # C13704. This fits box frames, C-channel frames, or I-beam frames between 22" and 66" long and gives a 2" receiver. It can be either bolted on or welded on and features a maximum tongue weight capacity of 500 pounds and a gross towing weight capacity of 5000 pounds....

  • 4 Bike Carrier For Bikes Weighing 40 Pounds Each
Hey Fred! Yes, your research is correct; the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # HR4000 has a weight capacity of 35lbs per bike. Since you don't want to risk overloading the rack, I'd strongly recommend going with a higher capacity rack like Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # C18087. This is rated for 45lbs per bike. Also, this hitch attaches to a 2" receiver, so just make sure you have that on your vehicle :). I...

  • 4 Bike Rack Recommendation for Use at the Rear of a Fifth Wheel Trailer
At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use. The platform bike racks are longer and heavier which adds even...

  • Replacement Anti Rattle Hitch Pin for Curt Bike Racks
The anti rattle pin for Curt bike rack # C18087 isn't available as a replacement part. However, it is the same pin as # C22321 for a 2 inch hitch receiver and # F-315 for a 1-1/4 inch.

  • What 4-Bike Rack do You Recommend for Putting on the Back of My Jeep Grand Cherokee?
With transporting 4 bikes, I recommend a platform-style hitch bike rack. For this route, I suggest the Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # C18087. The Curt 4 has a maximum per-bike weight capacity of 45 pounds and can hold bikes with maximum tire widths of 3 inches wide. Since your bikes have alternate frame styles, I recommend a Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's, Children's, and Alternative Frame Bikes # 64005 for each bike that has that frame...

  • Are There Any 4-Bike Racks That Convert Down To 2 Bikes
Hi Joseph, We offer a good grouping of bike racks that can easily transition from 2 to 4 bikes and back. What kind of bikes do you have and how much do they weigh? Do you have any step-through frame bikes or carbon fiber frames that need extra protection? Are there any specific features you'd prefer or a price range you'd like to stick to? Having the experience I gotten from working with different bike racks there's honestly a lot of little things that you'll really want to check for...

  • Could Curt Platform Bike Rack Carry 50 lb E-Bike
The Curt platform bike rack # C18087 only can carry bikes up to 45 lb but it can fit tire widths up to 3 inches so if there's a way to take 5 lbs of the bike like by removing the battery it would work well for you.

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Two Jetson Bolt Pro E-bikes
Thanks for the picture! With such small tires and short wheel base, I recommend the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Bikes item # SA4412B. This is a frame mount style bike rack that secures your bikes by either the frame or downtube using soft rubber cradles with cushioned straps. It has a 60 lbs per bike capacity and fits both 2" and 1-1/4" hitches.

  • Comparing Hollywood Racks Sport Rider and Curt 4-Bike Racks
The Curt 4-Bike Platform Rack # C18087 is a fine entry-level type option for a bike rack, but when it comes to function, durability, and convenience the clear winner is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4-Bike Rack # HR1400Z. Starting with function and convenience, the Curt uses a threaded hitch pin that you have to deal with to secure it in the shank, while the Hollywood has a very simple handle that you turn which tightens the rack in the shank. The Hollywood is also much more durable...

  • Which 4-Bike Carrier Can Be Converted To A 2-Bike Carrier And Has The Ability To Be Locked?
The Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches # C18087 does have the ability to be converted to a 2-bike carrier, but the Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches # S64665 cannot do this. A Swagman 4-bike carrier that CAN be converted to a 2 bike carrier is the Swagman Quad 2+2 Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches # S64FR. When comparing the Swagman Quad 2+2 to the Curt 4-bike rack, they are very similar in the fact that they can both be converted to a 2-bike carrier and both have a...

  • Can the Swagman XTC4 be Tilted with Bikes Loaded for Rear Hatch Clearance
We do have 4-Bike bike racks that have the tilting feature that allows you to keep your bikes loaded but unfortunately you have to remove the bikes off of the Swagman XTC4 # S64665 in order to rotate the center mast down to gain rear hatch clearance. For a similar bike rack that uses arms to secure the bikes and comes with bike and rack locks I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HR1400Z which does allow you to keep your bikes loaded while you use the tilt feature. • Comparing Curt and Swagman 4-Bike Platform Bike Racks for a 2008 Ford Edge
Curt is new to bike racks. Swagman has been making them for many, many years. So you can imagine where Curt might have drawn their inspiration from! Swagman makes a good rack for sure but with that said the simple design is hard to mess up so honestly I think you would be happy going with either rack. If the Curt bike rack, # C18087, is more within your budget then I am sure you will like it and that it will work well for you. However, one of the biggest differences is the warranty for...

  • Best Bike Rack for Two Jetson Bolt Pro Electric Bikes and Two Normal Bikes
There will probably be issues with the Curt rack, product # C18087, since the wheel hoops are too large to secure a set of 14 inch tires. Fortunately, we have a bike rack that will suit your needs. It's the Saris Freedom 4 Bike Platform Rack, part # SA4414B. This can carry four bikes, with the inner two positions able to support up to 60 pounds each. So, there won't be any issues with the Jetsons' additional weight. This rack has both the Tilt-Away and Fold-Up features that the Curt has....

  • Will The Curt 4 Bike Rack C18087 Have Clearance For Spare Tire On A 2022 Ford Bronco?
Hey Will, to answer your question, probably not. You are almost definitely going to need a hitch extension in order to put a bike rack on your 2022 Ford Bronco with the spare on the back. We do not have a way to know exactly how far back your spare tire extends so if you were to measure, we could definitely get a bitter idea of what will fit. You will want to measure from the center of your hitch pin hole straight out to the rearmost point of the spare tire. Once we know that measurement,...

  • Which Replacement Arms for Curt 2 or 4 Bike Platform Bike Rack
I'll start off by saying that the locks on the Curt Platform Bike racks like then # C18087 cannot be replaced, so the only way to be able to use the same key for all of the locks would be to replace all of the arms at the same time so they can be keyed alike. With that said, if you just want to replace the short arm you'll want to use the # C32WR and for the long arm you'll use the # C67HR. You'll need 2 of each for a 4 bike rack.

  • Should Loctite be Used to Put Together Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack # C18087
If it were me I probably would not use Loctite when assembling Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack # C18087 simply because it isn't needed. However if you want to err on the side of caution and chose to use Loctite I recommend using blue Loctite # LT37643. The blue Loctite is the less severe duty formula meaning you will still be able to take the rack apart with regular hand tools. Other formulas are much stronger and would require power or even pneumatic tools in some cases.
