4 Bike Carrier For Bikes Weighing 40 Pounds Each

Hello, Interested in 4 bike carrier, but we have enjoyed, average weight - 40lb if not more. It seems this carrier is limited to 35 bikes. What carrier do you recommend to carry this weight of bikes?

Hey Fred! Yes, your research is correct; the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # HR4000 has a weight capacity of 35lbs per bike. Since you don't want to risk overloading the rack, I'd strongly recommend going with a higher capacity rack like Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # C18087. This is rated for 45lbs per bike. Also, this hitch attaches to a 2" receiver, so just make sure you have that on your vehicle :).

Thanks, Andrew, Thanks for your response. I will look at the unit you suggested. Meanwhile, I also found a rack called, Benton Shifts&Grins Bike Rack. It offers 4 heavy bike carrying capability, and as a bonus, allows you to disconnect 2 of the carriers so you can use as a 2 bike carrier. Do you have any experience with this rack? It seemed to have good ratings. Thanks again, Fred
