Is Benton LittleShift Bike Rack Rated for Trailers

Updated 10/28/2025 | Published 03/08/2025

Question:

Is this bike rack designed and built for use on the back of an RV Towable Trailer given the punishment a bike rack takes at the back of a trailer?

Hi Dick; the Benton LittleShift Bike Rack # B54VR cannot be used on an RV, trailer, or towed vehicle. Trailer rated bike racks are pretty limited, so you would have to use a 2-bike rack like the # KU84FR if you want to put it on the trailer towed behind your motorhome.

Are you carrying a regular bike or an e-bike? If it is a heavier e-bike the Swagman E-Spec # S94FR would be a better choice with an RV capacity of 70 lbs per bike. If you have the space for it you might also consider a bike rack like the Lets Go Aero Jack-It PLUS # LGA47ZR which would mount on a tongue jack instead of the hitch at the rear.

Hey Dick, did you end up trying one of the trailer-rated racks like the Kuat Transfer V2 or the Jack-It PLUS for your setup? Your results could really help others choosing a rack for use behind a trailer.

@RobinH I went with the hyper v2 rack. Perfect for my ebike and attached to the 2" receiver on the back of my Outdoors RV 21RBS travel trailer.

@DickB I haven't heard of the Hyper V2 but if it is the Hyperax Volt 2 that is only rated for passenger vehicles.
