Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 15,000 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple. Most AC units are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't needed. Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

In order to fully complete installation, this AC needs to be paired with a 2025 or newer Advent Air air distribution box and thermostat.

Additional Accessories

Additional accessories can be purchased separately to improve the performance of your Advent Air AC unit. The start capacitor (ACMSCKIT) improves the performance of your AC by using stored energy to help start it. And the electric heat strip (ADV34QR) removes the chill on cold or frosty mornings in your RV, ensuring you stay comfortable. Please note that the heat strip will only work on Advent Air AC units.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), you'll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

I’ve had this on my roof for less than a week and it is not blown cold air. It is 77° in My trailer at night and it is only 70° outside. I am very frustrated with this. I am very frustrated because it worked well, at first.

That's not a good experience Stacy. There is a 2 year limited warranty on this unit. I'll make sure the right information is sent your way.

Thank you for the fast service

by:

Unit arrived quickly. Slight damage to the base but not enough to affect the installation. The 6 pin connector had male pins that did not mate with the male pins in the crossover cable as I was replacing a older Advent AD150 that replaced a Cokeman Mach. Had to splice the old 6 pin into new unit to make it work.

by:

Unit is very load. Cools fine

I’m sorry to hear the fit didn’t work out as expected. We definitely want to make sure you get the right solution for your RV. Can you share a bit more about what happened during the install? For example, what specifically didn’t line up or prevent it from fitting properly? Also, what year, make, and model is your RV? Which AC are you replacing?

by:

You sale the unit but I have to upgrade

by:

It seems to be working fine. Delivery was not good. Left at a neighbour’s residence and left standing on end, despite clear instructions on the box which way is up.

by:

Shipped quickly and works great. Nice replacement for existing unit and good price point.

by:

Was able to install within 2 hours of delivery. Works great. Only issue was the wrong electrical connector pins were in put in the 6-pin connector. It was the right male 6-pin connector but female connector pins were put in it. Had to splice the 6-pin connector from the old unit on to hook it up but it works, blows cold, and is quiet.

by:

Nice unit, fast shipping. Not installed yet, so no word beyond that. The 13,500 we bought has been installed and is doing a great job beating back the heat here. We expect this one to do even better. btw, we have several RVs and so we will be updating more A/Cs in the future.

by:

This unit went in easy as a replacement unit. With the associated interior parts all the parts were there.

by:

The unit mount well very easy to install. Had trouble with thermostat, manufacturer was great to deal with took three thermostats to get one that worked like it should.

by:

Working like a dream. Very satisfied

by:

Priced Right works excellent!

by:

The AC works fine so far. But it is not plug and play! The end that plugs into the control box has female ends, so does the control box. It needs to have male connectors in the plug. I had to pay an AC company $[XX] to take off my old plug and replace it. You think you are saving money with this. NOT!! I would have went with one more expensive not to have to go a day without AC until I had the right plug replaced!!!!!

by:

cools trailer better than the one it came with. was easy to install and could not be happier with the purchase

by:

Excellent product. Fast easy shipping and installation

by:

Great experience. 2 day shipping right on time!!
Easy install thanks to your videos specially the wiring!!!
Thank you for the easy return to get me the correct one which I ordered the wrong one. Thanks to Amy!!!

by:

Does not cool enough even after i WENT WITH 15000btu FROM A 13000 btu.

by:

Fast Shipping thank you

by:

Fast shipping! I installed this unit for a customer and they are very pleased. It started pulling humidity out quickly and temperature started to go down at a decent rate.

by:

Needed a male connector off of the air conditioner was a female connector of the air conditioner had to swap off old air conditioner

by:

Easy to install but need a new thermostat setup to be compatible with r32 freon

  • Can Advent Air RV AC Unit Replace Dometic Brisk
Hey Daniel, yes the Advent Air AC Unit part # ADV86SR that you referenced can replace your current Dometic Brisk B59516 that you have now. This is very similar to the Brisk and Duo Therm units so it can replace them and use the same wiring and distribution box.

  • Will Advent Air 15k BTU AC Unit Replace Dometic Duo Therm
Hey Don, there is a way to replace what you have with an Advent Air 15k BTU AC unit but the part number you mentioned is only the top unit and it's not compatible with the Duo Therm lower unit that you have now. You'd have to replace the upper and lower unit at same time with the part # ADV82SR. How did you like the Duo Therm?

  • Replacing Airxcel AC on 2012 Durango 1500 5th Wheel
Hey Eddie! You can upgrade to a 15k Btu AC and also add the heat strip. The heat strip isn't a substitute for the furnace but it is nice to have the extra help when it is cold out. The # ADV86SR is a new R32 unit, and just the AC unit, so you need to replace the air distribution box along with the thermostat for everything to work. I do recommend switching to one of the new R32 units since all of the old R410A models and parts are getting phased out. With a ducted setup you will need...

  • Looking For Replacement For Coleman Mach 13,500 BTU AC Unit
Hello Alvin, thanks for reaching out. We do have an option for replacing your Coleman AC unit. This will involve replacing your rooftop AC, controller, distribution box and thermostat. Reason being new AC units use a new R32 refruigerant. Old units use the 410a and these AC systems are incompatible with the new R32 refrigerant. So your best option is to replace the whole AC system. For that I recommend the following: - Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Manual - 13,500 Btu - White...

  • Best Replacement AC Unit For 2015 Sandpiper 5th Wheel With Dometic 936000681
Hello Chris, thanks for reaching out. Sadly, the ACM150B has been discontinued and is no longer available. With all of the new units going to the R32 refrigerant, the best option for replacing your Dometic 936000681 will be a full AC system replacement. This is the only way to ensure the AC, controller and thermostat will intercommunicate correctly. So for that, I recommend the following: - Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # ADV92SR This comes...

Hello Adam, thanks for reaching out. We do have AC units that can be used on your 1998 Winnebago Chieftain. The best option will be to replace the whole AC system, meaning the rooftop unit, controller, distribution box and thermostat. Reason being all new RV AC units use the new R32 refrigerant and these units are not backwards compatible with old AC systems. Hi Greg! We do have options for you, but the R32 coolant systems that all manufacturers were required to change to in 2025 so they could meet new EPA regulations are not backwards compatible and cannot be used with anything pre-2025. I know that's a bummer and probably not what you were hoping to hear, but there isn't any way around it, unfortunately. Hey, Darrell. Thanks for sharing the model number of your Airxcel AC. Based on that number, your AC is using the now phased out R-410A refrigerant. Because of that, you can’t just replace the main AC unit, you’ll also need a new air distribution box and thermostat. The kit you will need instead is the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System # ADV92SR. This is a complete system and will come with everything you need, and it will work with your ducted set-up. • Can Advent Air RV AC Unit Replace Dometic Duo Therm in RV
Hey George, you can upgrade your Duo Therm to an Advent Air but you have to go with a new lower unit at same time so instead of the # ADV86SR you'd need the part # ADV92SR which comes with the lower unit as well as a thermostat. At one point we thought the Advent and Dometic upper units were interchangeable but we learned it doesn't work reliably so only solution is to replace all of it.

  • Is Advent Air RV Air Conditioner ADV86SR Compatible With Old Pre-2024 AC System?
Hello Dave, thanks for reaching out. The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ADV86SR uses the new R32 refrigerant instead of the old r410a. Any R32 unit will not be backwards compatible with r410a AC systems. The r32 refrigerant is more flammable, so AC manufacturers had to rearrange the internals of the AC units to move the refrigerant away from potential heat sources. So not only could you run into communication errors, but it is quite literally a fire hazard to try to use a new AC unit with...

All of these new systems require complete replacement, including the air distribution box and the thermostat. Hello Eddie, thanks for reaching out. Adding a 15K Advent AC unit to your Jayco travel trailer is possible, but it will be best to replace the entire AC system. • Can RV AC Unit Install in Enclosed Cargo Trailer
Hey Joe, welcome back! This is a great question but it basically boils down to roof thickness. Enclosed trailers have thinner metal roofs whereas RV's have roofs that are typically between 1.5 inch and 6 inches thick. So if you'd be willing to frame up the ceiling in your trailer you can install an RV AC unit like the Advent Air part # ADV86SR.
