Features to know about

Carry More Gear Without the Hassle: Class III Strength with 2" Receiver

This hitch opens up your vehicle’s full hauling potential. With a 3,500-lb maximum gross trailer weight rating and 525-lb tongue weight rating, it’s built for light-to-moderate towing or for carrying heavy accessories like bike racks, cargo carriers, or small trailers. The 2" x 2" receiver is the most common size out there, so it works with a wide range of mounts and racks without needing adapters. Whether you’re towing a small camper or loading up bikes for the weekend, you’ll have the capacity to handle it safely and confidently.

Skip the Complicated Install: Bolt-On Design, No Welding Required

You don’t need special tools or a lift to get this hitch on your vehicle. It bolts directly to the frame using the included hardware—no welding or drilling necessary. The precision robotic welding ensures the hitch lines up with factory holes for a clean fit. It’s designed for DIY installs right in your driveway, so you can get set up and ready to haul in an afternoon.

Keep It Looking Clean: Matte Black Powder Coat Finish

The sturdy steel construction is covered in a matte black powder coat that resists rust and corrosion while hiding dirt and road grime. This finish has a rugged, carbide-like look that blends in well with the underside of your vehicle instead of standing out with a glossy shine. It’s not just tough—it keeps your hitch looking good even after years of use.

Comparison of etrailer matte carbide black hitch finish versus a glossy black finish, showing the matte surface’s rugged, non-reflective texture that hides dirt and wear.

Side-by-side comparison showing matte carbide black hitch coating next to a glossy black finish, illustrating the matte texture’s durability and rust resistance.

Built to Last Trip After Trip: Fully Welded, Heavy-Duty Steel

Every weld on this hitch is done by robot for consistent strength across the frame. That attention to detail means reliable performance whether you’re towing, hauling gear, or carrying bikes daily. The square-tube design gives it extra rigidity, and it comes ready with everything you need for mounting—ball mount, pin, and clip sold separately.

Great fit. Did it alone, so took longer, maybe 30 minutes.

by:

This hitch receiver was easy to install, fit perfectly, and looks great on our Kia Sportage!

by:

Excellent product for the price

by:

Perfect fit and we love it.

by:

I love the hitch, it works well, sturdy, no play.

Thank you

by:

As usual one of the holes on the hitch didn’t quite line up with threaded boss in frame- interference maybe 20 or 30 though sands. No problem in using a file to open up but should have brought a drill with a burr bit

by:

sturdy thing

by:

This is the second hitch that I've ordered from etrailer. I couldn't be happier with the product or the service. Amy was very courteous and knowledgeable, and, our hitch was delivered almost a week ahead of the estimated delivery date! I highly recommend etrailer!

by:

Excellent end-to-end, the ordering process was easy, the hitch arrived well packed with all necessary hardware and the installation video made it a breeze to install in less than an hour.

highly recommended...

by:

Great fit and was delivered without a s cratch

by:

The etrailer hitch is an excellent addition to Little Boy Blue, my 2022 KIA Sportage. The installation, done in my driveway, took less than an hour, and since I have no friends, I was forced to install it by myself. An overturned bucket was my assistant. The hitch is high-quality, a breeze to install, and adds significant value to my vehicle. By the way, it's my second DIY hitch from etrailer. The Red Baron, my departed 2008 KIA Sportage, was also outfitted with an etrailer hitch. All in all, a five-star item for sure.

by:

I have a 2019 KIA Sportage STI Turbo. The hitch fit perfectly. Note that there was no need to remove the bottom rear corner splash shields. The bolts can be forced into place without doing so and that is good because there are screws from above that require interior trim to be removed before you can get to them. Also, no need to hang muffler using rope or anything. The mid pipe hanger will hold the rear section. I bought a muffler hanger tool and it was worth the money. Spray a little soapy water. This is a step that I had trouble with in the past on other jobs.

by:

Did not fit on the car

by:

Great product, easy install , no need to remove panel. 6 bolts is strong enough for a bike rack. Only had to drop the 2 side rubber mounts , not all 3…Installed in about 20 min….Eazy breezy.l. 2021 Sportage ( Highly recommend ) Fast shipping also…Don’t be scared ! Get it!

You mentioned that you had only used six out of the eight bolts. I wanted to advise that the manufacturer advocates using all the hardware. If something were to happen and the hitch fails, then it would not be covered under warranty.

All good year later…strong , reliable wonly 6 bolts installed. Not towingso you don’t need all 8. Personal choice….recommend ,easy, fast install…worth every Buck!

by:

For a 2020 KIA Sportage base model. Another review mentioned having to drop the back end of the muffler/exhaust but I did not find that necessary. I did spend about 10 minutes maneuvering to find the perfect position and levering the muffler aside, then the hitch slipped in perfectly. I should have used something to clean the threads on the nutplates on the car first but in the end all the bolts went in fine.

It is a good solid reliable hitch and the finish is holding up well. I would say that a class 3 hitch is way overkill for this small underpowered vehicle but hitch receiver size reduction works better than expansion so I dont really regret getting the 2.

by:

This hitch receiver was delivered in 3 days from when I ordered it, took 25 minutes to install by myself. Very easy instal and looks great!

by:

It fits closely, but you'll need to modify the holes on this mount to make it fit properly.

by:

Looks great fits pretty well. The side rail bolt holes don't line up but all four bottom rail bolts fit as indicated. I'm not towing anything major just a basket with luggage so it should do the trick for me but didn't fully bolt in.

Regarding the bolt holes not lining up, sometimes a hitch can become flexed in the shipping process. This is a common occurrence, so much so that we actually have a help article on how to corrected mild flexing. I have attached the link to that article. Just wanted to send you that information because it is important to make sure the hitch is installed the way the manufacturer outlines. It is a safety concern and the integrity of the hitch is compromised if the instructions are not followed all the way. I understand you may not be hauling very much but in the name of safety I just wanted to reach out to you.

by:

First class! Perfect fit zero issues installation was easy and fast. Definitely recommend.

by:

Etrailer’s website is so easy to navigate, shipping was instantaneous and I was given tracking info immediately. I think this is my third purchase, and not my last. And phone numbers are given in emails if there is a problem and you want to talk to a real person! That’s something you don’t see much of anymore. The paper instructions were correct, but I wanted to watch a video on the install for clarity, sure enough the first one that comes up when I searched YouTube was from Etrailer. Ryan was the “star” of the video and cleared up any confusion I had on the steps to mount the hitch receiver. Exhaust system support was a concern until I saw what Ryan did/suggested. Such a smooth process from beginning to end. Totally satisfied!

by:

We needed a tow hitch for your vehicle and I found this one with good ratings. Overall the installation was as easy as possible - I just backed the car towards the garage since we have a nice angle on the driveway. I got to work and followed the instructions. This really is an easy install. Took about 45 minutes because I needed to get assistance to thread the first two bolts. Jacking up the vehicle is highly recommended if you can. Overall I'm satisfied with the ordering process, the quality of the tow hitch and the great customer service.

by:

Simple and easy install, great customer service!

by:

The customer service is the best! I was guided to the proper item for my vehicle and my need and it's been perfect ever since.
Imagine my delight that they reached out to make sure I am still satisfied a year later!!!

It functions as well now as it did the day it was installed. Quality product all the way!

by:

The installation video was helpful, the hitch seems very solid, and it fits my 2020 Kia Sportage perfectly. Three installation notes: First, I did not find it necessary to release the muffler from the driver’s side, only the passenger’s (tailpipe) side. The driver’s-side connection prevented my muffler from falling down while I was maneuvering the hitch in place. Second, one of the eight threaded holes on my car’s frame was too rusted to thread, so I followed the video’s suggestion and bought a M10 x 1.25 tap online, borrowed a neighbor’s tap wrench, and gently chased the rusted thread until it went through. Third, the cost of a torque wrench was worth the peace of mind in knowing that my hitch is properly mounted to my car.

by:

Fit 95% perfectly. One hole on each side was about 1/32 of an inch off and it was very difficult getting that one bolt started. Other than that I am very happy with the product. Because of that it took about 45 minutes to remove factory hitch and install the new one. Had to go from the 1 and 1/4 to the 2" so I can add a power lift for my mobility scooter.

  • Comparing Curt and etrailer Class III Trailer Hitches for a 2017 Kia Sportage
If you will be using the trailer hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier than I recommend the etrailer hitch # e72TR because it does not have the stabilization strap requirement for non-trailer loads like the Curt, # C13281. It also costs less. In fact, even if you were towing I would still recommend the etrailer hitch because it is at a better price point. While the designs of these 2 hitches are a little different how and where they install is about the same. I have...

Hi Christopher! To tow a small trailer with your 2022 Kia Sportage, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e72TR you were looking at. The price is currently the best, and the matte black finish makes it blend in better than the gloss finish other manufacturers use. Plus it's American made, so it's the one to get! • Does the Curt Wiring Harness # C56321 Add Amperage to the Factory Wiring on a 2019 Kia Sportage?
Aloha Tommy, Welcome to etrailer, I'm glad you found us. You are correct on how the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56321 plugs into the factory wiring, but there is one important difference when it comes to where the trailer lights actually get their power. The connections at the factory tail lights are used to tell the converter when you are braking, turning, or turning on the running lights. The # C56321 is a powered converter, so the power used to operate the trailer lights...

So the 2 inch hitch I would recommend for your 2019 Sportage would be the etrailer hitch part # e72TR because it has the best capacities, is the least visible, and unlike the Curt # C13281 it does not require the use of a stabilizer strap when carrying a non-supported...
