Will the erailer Hitch e72TR Fit A 2021 Kia Sportage EX AWD

Updated 05/20/2021 | Published 05/19/2021

Question:

I have been told there is no NO etrailer tow hitch for my 2021 KIA SPORTAGE EX All Wheel Drive. They Welding, Muffler and Tow Hitch company insist their supplier says the # e72TR will not fit and that our 2021 KIA SPORTAGE EX All Wheel Drive has a 2,000 pound tow rating. We opened our glove box and took out the Manual and it says our 2021 KIA SPORTAGE EX All Wheel Drive has a Max Tow Rating. They Welding, Muffler and Tow Hitch Company offer to put some other tow hitch on our car. My son 26 and I 53 decided to install a tow hitch ourselves. I am retired from working in Auto Body Shops for over 32 years. I am extremely confident we can do this. All my research shows the # e72TR hitch e-Trailer sells is what we are looking for. Am I correct in assuming our best choice is the # e72TR etrailer? We have two F-250 Crew Cab trucks and a Chevy Express van we tow with so this Sportage EX is not going to be our main tow vehicle. We just want the best choice tow hitch for the 2021 Sportage EX. Sorry if I wrote so much, but I wanted to be clear on this question.

I would not take your vehicle back to the welding/muffler/tow hitch shop you visited.

The etrailer Hitch # e72TR you mentioned is confirmed to fit your 2021 Kia Sportage EX All Wheel Drive so I am not sure where they are getting their information. This is the hitch I recommend as it has the highest ratings out of all of the hitches available for your vehicle so you will know your trailer hitch receiver is capable of any weight trailer that your vehicle is rated for.

The # e72TR has a 525 lbs tongue weight rating and 4500lb trailer weight rating so it will be plenty as it exceeds the towing capacity of your Sportage. You will need to make sure you do not exceed the lowest rated component between the vehicle and trailer hitch receiver, and make sure to abide by the towing capacity found in your owner's manual.

Since you are planning on towing a trailer you will also need a vehicle wiring harness # 118698.

I included videos showing each of the products mentioned being installed on a 2021 Kia Sportage EX for you to take a look at.
