Features to know about

Add Real Towing Power: Class III Strength with 2" Receiver

This Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver is built for real-world hauling. With a 5,000-lb maximum gross trailer weight and 750-lb maximum tongue weight, it’s ready for small campers, boats, or cargo trailers. If you’re using a weight distribution setup, the rating goes up to 6,000 lbs GTW. The 2" x 2" opening is the standard size for most ball mounts, bike racks, and cargo carriers, giving you flexibility for whatever job or trip comes next.

Built to Last: Fully Welded Steel with Dual-Layer Protection

The hitch is made from powder-coated steel over a protective base coat for superior rust resistance. That finish holds up against road grime and weather so your hitch keeps looking good and working strong. Precision robotic welding adds strength and a consistent fit where it counts. The round-tube design gives it a clean, finished look under the rear of the vehicle.

Simple to Install at Home: Bolt-On Fit with Included Hardware

No drilling or welding is needed—this hitch bolts straight to factory holes in the frame. The complete hardware kit and step-by-step instructions are included, so anyone comfortable with tools can handle the install in a driveway or garage. Once bolted up, it’s ready to take on towing duty right away.

Ready for Everyday Use: Works with Common Accessories

Because it’s a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver, you can use it for more than just towing. It pairs easily with popular bike racks, cargo platforms, or ball mounts. Whether you’re adding storage space for road trips or setting up to tow a small camper or utility trailer, this versatile hitch gives your vehicle the muscle and flexibility to handle the job.

The plate that comes with this doesn’t fit. We had the hitch installed by a dealership and they refused to put the plate on since it made it bow out.

Sorry to hear there were some issues during the installation Susan. I'm not completely sure what plate you are referencing. The # C13293 you ordered ships with the receiver hitch and the necessary hardware for installation and fits your 2022 Acadia as long as it is not the AT4 model. Are you referring to the plate on the rear bumper that covers the receiver?

by:

The hitch looks great out of the box. Primary use will be transporting bikes. Bolt holes lined up perfectly with frame holes on 2020 GMC Acadia but the cut out section of the rear bumper cover either should be removed or trimmed. I trimmed. The hitch receiver was not below as advertised. The hitch is actually almost completely concealed except the receiver opening. I purchased the hitch cover also but can’t use it unless I cut away more of the bumper cover cut-out.

Secure, confident towing. Many online videos detail the installation. Very satisfied!

Very impressed with the hitch. Looks very well put together. It sits just below the bumper on the Acadia, which is right where I wanted it. It was no 20-40 min instal. And I’m not a novice. There had to be more width to remove off of the heat shield and along the sides to make this fit easier. I had to really hit it hard with a rubber mallet to get it to line up with the holes. I cut the heat shield as shown in the instructions. For this one, it would have been less length and more width. But after prying it over, beating it and working it, I got it. Wife and my arms were sore after holding that up and all the adjustments. I’d also note that some of the caulking that is up behind where the two mufflers attach needs to be shaved off to allow the hitch to lay flat and make it easier to get that nut on.

Those were my only parts that I struggled with but I love it. It’s a great looking hitch. Thank you.

Happy with all products i have purchased. All high quality. Company great to deal with.

by:

Fit perfectly for my 2017 GMC Acadia. Well built, install medium difficulty, plenty of how to videos and pictures, but a little hard to do by yourself. And you have to make sure that 100% of the glue for the heat shields are removed, otherwise the hitch will not sit flush to the bottom of the car. Overall very happy with the purchase.

by:

Hitch Fit as stated,it went together well. Son in law and I put it on in about 1 1/2 hr on a blacktop driveway. We were pleased an it was a good project with money saved. Also wire harness for trailer was very easy plug in route. Lights even worked correctly haha. Nice. Money saving.

by:

It fit perfect and worked just like all of my Curt hitches that I have purchased from etrailer. I don't shop any place else for any of my trailer or towing needs. As far as I can tell some things I might have to give a couple of cents more for but they make up for it in their customer service. Erika and George are the greatest and are always eager to help me out if I need it. I will and do, highly recommend etrailer to any one looking to get a fair deal on trailer parts and accessories. It's a shame that the GMC ACADIA doesn't have the power it needs to tow anything bigger than the mother-in-law though
The one complaint I have is that there is no place to mount the vehicle electrical plug without using a little Micky mouse bracket...

by:

The body shop owner and myself watched the how to install video. We took down the exhaust as indicated on the video, the hitch did not fit as indicated. We had to grind the egg shaped holes larger, in order to make the hitch fit. The installation took 4 hours and two men working.

Thank you for your review. It sounds like your hitch receiver was flexed. We have solutions for this problem attached in a help article:

by:

The hitch itself is great, it fit my 2021 gmc Acadia. And shipping was pretty quick.
It definitely isn’t difficult to install, i have very very little knowledge or experience installing things like that and I was able to follow their video and do it almost entirely alone. I did need help lifting it into place but im sure if I had a Jack stand or something I would have had no issues. I will say I had to scrap up so much more calk than the video described. All the calk on the frame piece where the exhaust bolts onto needed to go because this hitch needs every millimeter to fit into place. Once it was all removed the holes all lined up perfectly.

by:

For our 2019 Acadia, this was a toss-up between this hitch receiver and the other one. In the end, the deciding factor was ease-of-install. I won't say this install ended up being easy, but one person can do it (use a jack to get it close and feed the fishwire for each bolt through the accompanying hole in the receiver, so you don't lose the bolt in the frame as you jack it up). Big tip: the instructions state to scrape off excess caulk on the frame...spend the time to mock up exactly where the receiver will go on the body, then use a sharpie to mark what sections of the caulk to remove. Getting the frame prepped for proper installation of the receiver took the most time. Other than that, it's a pretty straightforward job and the receiver fits snugly just under the bumper. No trimming required. Perfect!

It’s been a year since I installed this hitch receiver. And what are my thoughts about it? Honestly, not much, and I think that’s a perfect recap. It just works. Still just as snug as when it was first installed and so easy to use. During COVID, my wife and I took up a lot more biking and this hitch receiver greatly simplified the process of “taking the bikes”. Within minutes we were picked up and on the way to the trail. I have no regrets about purchasing this receiver. Great product! Thank you, etrailer!

by:

Shipped earlier than expected! Great packaging! Easy and quick install and instructions! Less than 45 minutes, start to finish! Highly recommended!

by:

Install was easy and good video tutorials are provided

by:

Followed instructions on video and did it by myself until it came time to lift the hitch up. Very easy instructions, perfect fit!

by:

Straightforward installation, I didn't need to cut my bumper, and it does its job.

by:

Hitch fit great and came with everything needed to install it, including very easy to understand instructions

by:

Prefect fit and easy install with basic tools

by:

Received parts quick and packed very nicely as always. The fishwife for the bolts was sweet. Definitely have to drop the exhaust down. Worst part is taking the heat shields off to trim. Only had to trim plastic cover a little with a razor. Turned out nice.

by:

Fit in well on the 2021 Acadia. Make sure any caulk or tin from heat shield is REALLY out of the way. Every ounce of space makes a difference for getting hitch into place. If at all possible hold hitch in place to mark where heat shield needs to be trimmed. The wire bolt pulls worked GREAT. Videos online by etrailer are big help. I installed alone, yes help from a friend is BETTER than my floor jack. 1.5 hours on this. I would recommend etrailer to a friend.

by:

Still a PITA, had to break one of the rear exhaust nuts, 2 per each side is overkill anyway, no way bending was gonna allow hitch to sit flush. It’s a tough project if doing at home, not a lot of room to work under these Acadia’s.

by:

The U-Haul store told me to get hitch from you so I did. Hope it’s a real good one because looking around I found them for a $100 less. But service and delivery EXCELLENT

by:

Great service. Love your directions and YouTube DIY video also!

Brian we really appreciate that and glad to hear the videos are helpful!

Installed this on a 2017 GMC Acadia SLT-1. Instructions were spot on. Required cutting heat shield and trimming some caulking, but well worth it for a safe & proper fit. Not hard at all. Tin snips and a pocket knife.
The fish-wire makes installation a breeze and I was able to put the washer and bolt on through the end of the frame instead of the minute "access" hole. Two sets of hands would make lifting this into place and holding it there much easier, but can be done with some blocking while finger tightening the nuts.
There is enough clearance to install without jacking, but I just backed up my oil change ramps for lots of extra room. Took about 2 hours from box opening to turning the light off in the garage.

by:

Completed my installation. Took about 3 hours, but that was mostly because I was stopping to look at the video each step of the way. Completed by myself with no help. Used jack stands to help hold the hitch up while bolting the first side. Messed up on one spot, but I just misunderstood which speeder nut stud needed pulled off with the pliers. Got it figured out after I pulled off the wrong ones, but definitely my fault. Attention to detail :). Looks really good, also installed the trailer cable. I’ll be towing a trailer about 2,000 pounds next month for my move to CA from TX (13 hour drive). My 2021 Acadia (V6) doesn’t have the equipped package with the upgraded radiator and what not, but hoping it should still work out. Dealership has no clue what to tell me lol.

by:

fits great your installation video made this a no surprise process

  • Comparing Curt and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Options for a 2020 GMC Acadia
The trailer hitch options for a 2020 GMC Acadia are the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13293 (see photo one) and the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76023 (see photo two). The trailer hitches are both bolt-on options and have sufficient weight capacities that exceed the vehicle so neither will limit or increase your towing capacity. That said, the most notable difference which you can see from the photos below is that the Draw-Tite hitch installs behind the bumper...

Hey Guy, thanks for reaching out. Your hitch definitely should have come with a full hardware kit with 6 of the 7/16" bolts, 6 spacers, 6 nuts and 6 fish wires. We do offer the fish wires separately as part # C58410, but sadly we do not offer the bolts. You should be able to find a suitable grade 8 7/16" bolt at a local hardware or auto parts store, so that is what I would try for those. Otherwise we are able to provide a full hardware kit with part # RHK. This would get you 6 of everything...
