The easiest hitch to install on your 2017 GMC Acadia is going to be the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C13293. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Acadia's frame with included hardware. I have linked an installation video and the instructions for this hitch below so you can see if it is going to be something you are capable of doing at your home.

If your Acadia has the factory towing package you will need the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way Trailer Connector item # 118276 to control your utility trailers lights and brakes. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located behind the access cover at the center of your rear bumper.

You will also need a brake controller to operate your utility trailers brakes. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller that works with trailers having up to 4 axles. The brake controller activates your trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. It automatically adjusts the trailer's braking based on deceleration of your vehicle. The brakes activate immediately, there is no pausing like with time-delayed brake controllers.

To round out your towing setup I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop.
