Question:

2009 Toyota corolla. I need a perferably a class 3 hitch/2 reciever hitch for a 2 -place e-bike rack. No towing just e bike transport. I really have no idea of total weight of bikes plus carrier but estimate 250 lbs. total maximum transport weight. I would like to avoid a 1 1/4 reciever.

Hey Robert, thanks for reaching out. So I do have some useful info for you, but its not gonna be what you want to hear. The only custom fit trailer hitch available for the 2009 Toyota Corolla is the Curt Class 1 hitch # C11265. The Corolla is not rated for towing so there are no heavier-duty hitches made for it. This hitch has a 1-1/4" receiver and a 200 lb tongue weight rating. Using a hitch adapter/expander is out of the question. So I hate to be the one to tell you this, but there is no way to safely carry the kind of cargo you are describing with a Corolla.

I own both a 2006 Corolla S and a 2010 Corolla LE, and our 2010 has this exact same Curt # C11265 hitch on it. I have only ever used it for a Kuat NV 2.0 bike rack and my mountain bike which weighs about 30 lbs. So like 90-120 lbs total. And Honestly, I would be hesitant to put any more weight on it than that. These corollas just aren't meant for hauling that kind of weight.

If you can keep the total cargo weight under 200 lbs, this hitch could still work for you. Otherwise the only option would be to find a small lightweight trailer for hauling the bikes. That or find a different vehicle that is more suited for towing. We used to have a 2013 Sienna with a 2" hitch, and the Sienna could EASILY handle 250 lbs, plus a lot more.
