A Solution for Rough Rides

Have you ever hit a bump while towing and felt that road shock jostle and shake you all the way down to your bones? It's a common feeling. Most gooseneck couplers are made almost completely of metal, so there's nothing to help soften the road shock whenever you hit a bump. This results in a bumpy, jerky ride that not only takes a toll on you as you drive, but it creates an uncomfortable and stressful experience for your horses when you've got a livestock trailer hooked up. And it also beats up your equipment, leading to premature wear and tear for both your truck and gooseneck trailer.

Fortunately, the Shocker Hitch Air gooseneck coupler will change all that.

Air Bag and Bumper Stop Shock Absorption Technology

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Coupler

Using a built-in air bag and rubber cushions, the Shocker Hitch Air gooseneck coupler acts like an air suspension between your truck and gooseneck trailer. The air bag and bumpers help absorb road shock, creating a smoother, more comfortable ride while also protecting your truck and trailer from wear and tear on the brakes, chassis, trailer frame, and suspensions.

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Bumper Stop Cushions

The body of the Shocker Hitch Air gooseneck coupler is designed to pivot back and forth, as the air bag and the cushioned bumpers take turns absorbing the road shock. When you hit a bump and your trailer bounces or you brake suddenly and your trailer jolts forward, the unit pivots so that the air bag and 2 cushioned bumper stops can isolate and absorb the energy.

Customize Amount of Shock Absorption

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Air Valve

Using the easily accessible air valve on the top of the unit, you can adjust the air pressure in the air bag to best accommodate what you're hauling. If you're towing a full trailer, for example, 15-20 psi should get the job done. If, however, you're hauling industrial equipment, you might need to air it up to 25-35 psi to accommodate the heavy load. Once the equipment is unloaded, simply release some air so that your unloaded trailer won't experience a stiff ride.

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Air Bag

If you happen to get stuck in a situation where you're unable to inflate the bag, there's no need to worry; you can still tow your trailer. Without the inflated air bag, you won't get the full benefit from the Shocker Hitch Air, but you'll still get some built-in cushion with the bumper stops.

Fast, Easy Coupling

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Shift Lock Closed

Hooking up your trailer is fast and easy thanks to the Shift Lock mechanism. Once you slide your gooseneck ball into the coupler socket, simply pull the lever down to engage the locking bars, securing the ball in place. Most couplers have a single pin that slides under one side of the ball, but the Shocker Hitch has thick, locking bars that cover both sides of the ball, providing added security and reducing rattle. Once the bars have captured your hitch ball, insert the included pin and clip through the lever to secure.

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Shift Lock Engaged

To unhook, remove the pin and clip and lift the lever to disengage the locking bars. You can even attach a pulley to the hole at the top of the lever, so you can easily release the lever from outside the bed of your truck.

Video Transcript for Customer Interaction with the Shocker Hitch Air Cushioned Gooseneck Coupler

Hello, neighbors. It's Brad from etrailer, and today we are at World Wide Technology's Raceway. And I'm here with Tyler, and we we're walking by his enclosed trailer, and he's got the Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Surge, okay And this is a pretty cool system. So most goosenecks are kind of just chucking around, and it doesn't have a whole lot of cushion, it's kind of a rough ride. This has a built-in airbag. So Tyler, tell us about it.

So I've owned a lot of trailers, being a drag racer for all my life, 25 years, and never a hitch set up with an airbag like this, like the Shocker. And it's just such a much smoother ride. I run about 50 pounds, I think, in the bag. And, you know, going down the rough highways even that I live by, you don't even notice it. And the other thing that I like about it is just the latch itself.

You know, a lot of them things, they have the craziest latches, they're hard to use. But that thing's simple, you know, with the pin you just pull that out there, and then it latches right down. The latching system, and the smoothness of the ride, and the how easy it is to work with is what I like about it. So if someone had a gooseneck and they're having a rough ride, things are getting clanged around, this is the ticket All day. I mean, you know, cars don't move.

Golf carts are really hard to keep in place in trailers in general. And you know, first time I've haul a golf cart with this one was this week, and it didn't move an inch. So I'm a big fan of it, definitely will be on all the trailers that I have. Brad You can get the Shocker Hitch Cushion Gooseneck Coupler in a three inch offset like Tyler's, or a nine inch offset like you see here. This really is a solution for rough rides, especially on something like Tyler's race trailer.

If you ever hit a bump while towing and felt that road shock jostle and shake you all the way down to your bones, you know what Tyler is experiencing. Most gooseneck couplers are made almost completely of metal, so there's nothing to help soften the road shock when you hit a bump. This results in a bumpy, jerky ride, that not only takes a toll on you as you drive, but also your cargo. Especially if you have a horse or a livestock trailer, imagine the same toll being taken out on your animals. Using a built-in airbag and rubber cushions, the Shocker Hitch Air Gooseneck Coupler acts like an air suspension between your truck and gooseneck trailer. The airbag and bumpers help absorb road shock, creating a smoother, more comfortable ride, while also protecting your truck and trailer from wear and tear on the brakes, chassis, trailer frame, and suspensions. The result is a safer all around trip for your trailer and your cargo. That can be livestock or, like Tyler, your drag racer or golf cart. The Shocker Hitch Air Cushion Gooseneck Coupler is available in a square or round tube design to match your trailer. And with a 30,000 pound gross trailer weight rating and up to a 7,000 pound tongue weight, the Shocker Hitch is a great solution for rough rides that you've been getting with your heavy duty gooseneck trailer. Awesome, thank you Tyler. An awesome day at World Wide Technology's Raceway. We got to meet lots of neighbors, whether they be local or around the country, right here in etrailer's own backyard in Madison, Illinois. Now, it's awesome to see them in their element with their race cars, and we're happy to allow them to have the parts and accessories necessary to make sure that they have the best experience while towing their race cars around.

Just received the Shocker hitch and have not installed it yet. The hitch was received in good shape, however the cardboard box it was in was beat up pretty bad due to the weight of this hitch. Supplier needs stronger/better packaging for thes heavy parts.

by:

Works great, but after a couple of hours the air leaks out, I only put 35psi in it , I might go with something mechanical

by:

We put this on a flat bed trailer 40ft it bucked realy bad when empty on dirt roads. This has helped with the pressure a lot well worth the money.

  • Troubleshooting Jerking Motions With A 2000 Take 3 Car Hauler Trailer
With your Take 3 trailer being over twenty years old the suspension could definitely use a tune up if you haven't already so new leaf springs are a good starting point. You'll want to ensure that you choose your leaf springs based on the capacity of the axle, style (double-eye or slipper spring) and the length. For example, if you had a 7k axle with double-eye leaf springs and the measurement from eyelet to eyelet was 24-7/8" then you would want the # e64SR. The next step would be upgrading...
