Today we'll be reviewing and installing the K2 replacement winch control box for Detail K2 snowplow. Part number K2WCB. This part replaces the winch control box on your Detail K2 snowplow. It mounts inside your vehicle and provides power to the winch, by connecting it to the car battery. It's working just fine. Your replacement winch controller is going to come with the winch controller, and a harness, that's going to go down to your quick connect, that's going to go to your plow. It will also come with a new bracket and all the bolts required to change it out. Once we've determined that the old one is bad.
We're going to simply remove the battery and the ground. Take our old control box out and install our new one. We're going to slide it off the bracket, unplug our controller, put that to the side and we'll disconnect the ground, and we'll have to take off the power. Ours is hooked to a circuit breaker, so we're just going to loosen off the side of the circuit breaker. You want to be careful handling this because it is powered up.
Then we're going to un-route our wires that go down to the front bumper. Just pull it up out. Begin by installing the tether on the cap, on the cover for the end of your cable, cut the excess. Go ahead and put some tape on it. We'll slide our loom up over it. That will keep your loom from sliding up and down on your wiring.
Once you figure out where the end's going to be, we'll do the same thing, that will keep you loom in-tact. Now we can drop that back through, and reconnect our wires. We'll go ahead a reattach our power wire and we'll put some electrical tape around that to protect it from shorting out. Then we can reconnect our ground wire. Plug in our controller that goes on the inside of the vehicle and slide it back on to the bracket. Then we'll tie up all our wires and make sure you keep them nice and secure so they're not flopping around under the hood.
We have our wire dropped down and zip-tied. Take it back out the access hole here and we can wrap it up. Then we'll go try our snowplow on. Make sure everything's going to work properly. That's going to do it for our review and install of the K2 replacement winch control box for the Detail K2 snowplows, part number K2WCB. .
Took care of my problem and is working perfectly as this season ends. I have no problem purchasing other things from etrailer as needed.
You guys have been great! I really appreciate your good customer service. I'm using the manual direct control because the remote doesn't seem to work.
