Powerful, Portable Generator

e2000 outlets

The e2000 etrailer inverter generator packs 2,000 watts of clean AC power to get you up and running whether you're at the campsite, worksite, or tailgate party. This powerful generator comes with (1) 120V GFCI outlet for safely powering household appliances, tools, and electronic devices. It also features (1) 120V L5-30R twist-lock outlet for large appliances and motorized tools with greater electrical demands. Lastly, it includes (1) 5V USB outlet to charge cell phones, tablets, and other portable electronics.

e2000 RV adapter

As an added convenience, the e2000 also features a TT-30R adapter that lets you plug your RV into the generator's 120V 30-Amp L5-30R twist-lock outlet. This ensures you'll have access to electricity no matter where you take your RV or if there's a power outage at the campground.

e2000 carry handle in use

Finally, this compact unit weighs only 45 lbs and has a built-in ergonomic handle, making it easy to take with you no matter where you go.

Safe for Sensitive Electronic Devices

e2000 safe for cell phones

Electronic devices are made with delicate circuitry that requires steady, controlled electrical current. The electrical current produced by standard generators, however, is uncontrolled, allowing extreme fluctuations in power. And these fluctuations can easily damage your sensitive electronic devices.

This generator, on the other hand, has a built-in inverter that controls the voltage that is produced. This important feature ensures the generator is safe to use with your electronic equipment such as cell phones, computers and medical devices.

Easy-Start Engine

This generator features a comfort grip recoil pull handle that provides easy manual startup. It uses standard unleaded gas, meaning there is no need to mix gas and oil.

Before starting your generator, ensure nothing is connected to the outlets. Start your generator and let the engine run for a few minutes to warm up and stabilize. Check to make sure the circuit breaker is in on position before continuing. Once the generator is up and running, you may connect your electrical loads. To follow the recommended order of operation, connect the device with the highest starting watts first, like your air conditioner or refrigerator, and work your way down to the device with the lowest starting watts. By connecting devices in this order, you can make the most of your generator's capacity through connecting high wattage loads when there is more power available.

Built-in Parallel Ability

e2000 parallel

The e2000 has built-in parallel capability letting you to pair it with any etrailer inverter generator for increased power output. Simply plug the included cables into the corresponding parallel ports on each generator's control panel.

e2000 parallel ports

You can pair it directly with another 2,000 watt generator (333-0001 - sold separately) to increase power output to 3,800 watts. Additionally, it can pair with a 3,200 watt generator (333-0002 or 333-0003 sold separately) to increase power output to 4,900 watts. By increasing the power output, you can run equipment with higher electrical demands.

Economy Mode Provides Fuel Efficiency

e2000 eco mode

With the flip of a switch, you can activate the generator's economy mode feature. This mode adjusts engine speed to match the power demands of your connected devices. When using low-draw devices like tablets, cell phones, televisions, and radios, the engine runs more efficiently to save fuel and keeps noise to a minimum. The engine only runs at normal speed when additional power is needed. For example, when using a power tool, the engine will only speed up when the device is actively being used. This mode is not only kinder to your pocketbook and your ears, it's also easier on the environment.

Safety Features

e2000 safety lights

This generator comes with a number of safety features that protect both you and the generator itself. The control panel contains two warning lights indicating low oil and overloading. When the engine is low on oil, it will automatically shut down to prevent damage. If an overload is detected, either by exceeding the generator's limits or a power surge, the circuit breaker will stop supplying power to the connected devices. A built-in spark arrester helps prevent any sparking that might burn someone or start a fire, protecting both you and the environment. This arrester has been certified by the USDA Forest Service. Also, a digital voltage regulator assists in minimizing voltage fluctuations which helps to maintain a steady flow of electricity.

Choosing a Generator

To choose a generator that meets your needs, you must match the size of the generator (that is, the starting output and running output in watts) with the electrical demands of the equipment that you want to operate.

Power Demands

Starting (surge) wattage is the power a device requires at startup. Running (rated) wattage is the power needed to keep the device running. A large appliance with an electric motor such as a furnace, refrigerator, air conditioner, or washing machine may require 2 to 3 times more starting wattage than running wattage.

It is always best to start your generator with no load connected, then add each device one at a time. Additionally, a good practice to consider is connecting your devices in order from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts. As you connect and start devices, your available wattage decreases. This order of operation allows you to start devices with the highest power demands when there is more power available.

Determining Your Power Needs

When choosing a generator, knowing the amount of power you will need is crucial to your decision. Whether you are preparing for an emergency situation at home or taking a weekend trip in the RV, planning out your application is essential. The two calculations below provide power estimations that will help point you to a generator that is right for your needs.

Industry Standard Calculation

The Industry Standard Calculation is a quick and easy way to determine your required wattage. It may provide some padding in your wattage requirements, which could give you more power than you actually need, but you shouldn't have to worry about not having enough power. The following steps will help you quickly calculate the correct size generator to meet your application.

As stated earlier, you should always start your generator without any load, and then connect each device one at a time. The following calculation requires this approach to work. However, using this calculation removes the worry of connecting devices in a certain order.

1. Determine the starting watts and running watts for the devices that you want to plug into the generator.

a. Find the starting (surge) watts and running (rated) watts for each device that you want to plug into the generator. Look for a sticker or plate on each device or check your owner's manuals.

b. If your device or manual only shows amps and volts, watts can also be determined through a simple formula. (Amps x Volts = Watts)

c. List all of your starting watts and running watts as seen in Table 1 below.

Table 1

Example DevicesStarting WattsRunning Watts
Air conditioner (10,000 Btu)1,8001,200
Refrigerator1,600800
Electric drill600450
Floor fan0100

2. To find the total starting watts required, add the starting watts for the device with the highest value to the running watts of all the other devices from Table 1.

1,800 + 800 + 450 + 100 = 3,150 total starting watts

3. To find the total running watts, add all of the running watts together from Table 1.

1,200 + 800 + 450 + 100 = 2,550 total running watts

To run all of these devices simultaneously, you would require a generator with at least 3,150 starting watts and 2,550 running watts.

Advanced Precise Calculation

While the method for calculating your power needs outlined above will work, it isn't the most precise. If you aren't afraid of doing a little more math, you can use the Advanced Precise Calculation to get a more accurate idea of how much power you will need and potentially save yourself some money. Because the calculation above pads in enough power to ensure you can start your devices in any order, it may point you to a bigger and more expensive generator than you need. However, by following the more regimented, order-of-operations calculation below, you'll get a much more precise idea of how much power you need, which could in turn point you to a smaller and less expensive generator.

Again, you should always start your generator without any load, and then connect each device one at a time. The following calculation also requires that you start your devices in order from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts. When you connect devices in this order, you can start high demand devices when there is more power available.

1. Determine the starting watts and running watts for each device that you want to plug into the generator.

a. Find the starting (surge) watts and running (rated) watts for each device that you want to plug into the generator. Look for a sticker or plate on each device or check your owner's manuals.

b. If your device or manual only shows amps and volts, watts can also be determined through a simple formula. (Amps x Volts = Watts)

c. List out these devices from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts as seen in Table 2 below.

Table 2

Example DevicesStarting WattsRunning Watts
Air conditioner (10,000 Btu)1,8001,200
Refrigerator1,600800
Electric drill600450
Floor fan0100

2. To find the total running watts, add all of the running watts together from Table 2.

1,200 + 800 + 450 + 100 = 2,550 total running watts

3. In Table 3, shown below, the values from Table 2 are used to calculate the highest total starting watts required as devices are connected and running. This number represents the highest power requirement you will encounter as you connect all of your devices to the generator. To find this, add the starting watts of each new device you connect to the combined running watts of all connected devices. The highest of these numbers will be the total starting watts required. And again, remember to always connect devices in order from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts.

Table 3

DeviceStarting WattsRunning Watts of All Connected DevicesTotal Starting Watts Required
1. Air conditioner1,800 +0 (nothing connected)= 1,800
2. Refrigerator1,600 +1,200 (AC)= 2,800
3. Electric drill600 +2,000 (AC + refrigerator)= 2,600
4. Floor fan100* +2,450 (AC + refrigerator + electric drill)= 2,550

* Even though the floor fan does not have starting watts listed, you have to account for the power needed to actually run it.

1,600 + 1,200 = 2,800 highest total starting watts required

In order to run all of these devices simultaneously, you would require a generator with at least 2,800 starting watts and 2,550 running watts. The starting watts are determined by the highest total starting watts required during the calculation in Table 3/Step 3. The running watts are determined by the total running watts from Step 2.

Video Transcript for etrailer 2,000-Watt Portable Inverter Generator Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the etrailer 2,000 watt portable inverter generator, part number 333-0001. You can also pick up a kit with two generators and run them parallel with part number 333-0001-2. This etrailer generator's going to be great for camping, at the job site, or in an emergency situation. It's an 80-cc, single cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke motor with 3.5 horsepower. It features 2,000 starting watts and 1,600 running watts. If you pick up the kit with two generators, that increases to 3,800 starting watts and 3,000 running watts. It has a five volt, 2.1 amp USB port for charging your electronics, 120 volt 20 amp common household outlet, and 120 volt 30 amp twist lock outlet with an RV adapter.

If you pick up the kit with two generators, you'll double your outlets and you can use the outlets on either generator at the same time. The outlets are fuse protected. The reset switch is right here.We have lights to indicate when we're ready to go, when we're overloaded, and when we need to add oil. As a safety feature, when you're overloaded, it stops all power to your outlets. In order to reset it, you'll need to turn off the generator and then start it back up.

As another safety feature, the spark arrester going to be prevent any flammable debris from exiting the exhaust. One last great safety feature is if you are low on oil, it will shut down the generator automatically. It features two engine modes. We've got normal and economy. Economy mode is going to help us save fuel when we're not using a lot of power. It's going to be great for low voltage applications; for example, charging my cell phone or running my TV or a radio inside my RV or camper.

Another great thing is, it's going to significantly cut down on noise. Here it is in normal mode and then economy mode. The dimensions are 20" long x 16-3/4" tall and 12-1/8" wide. A comparable generator you'll find here at etrailer.com is the A-iPower 2,000 watt generator. The most obvious difference between the two is that the controls are on the end rather than the side. In addition to the household outlet and the twist lock outlet, the A-iPower features a 12 volt outlet, but it does not feature a USB outlet.

The A-iPower generator does have a slightly larger fuel tank at 1.1 gallons. They both feature 2,000 starting watts with 1,600 running watts. They're both cool start generators and feature an economy mode. Both generators can run parallel with the same generator, though the etrailer generator can run with a larger etrailer generator as well. You can pick up the parallel power kit with part number 333-0007.For our noise comparison, we have the etrailer generator, the A-iPower generator and a comparable Honda generator. Here at our etrailer generator, we have 87 decibels in our standard mode and about 83 decibels in our eco mode. Here at our A-iPower generator, we're running about 90 decibels in standard mode and 84 in eco mode. Here at our Honda generator, we're running standard mode at 88 decibels, in our eco mode it's 83 decibels. As you can see, the etrailer generator has a similar noise output as other generators of the same style. In fact, I'm inside my camper with my etrailer generator running and I can barely hear it. As you can see, we're about 62 decibels, which is no louder than a regular conversation. Now that we got all the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it set up. I've already gone ahead and unpacked it and removed it from the box. First thing we need to do is add oil and fuel. The oil filler cap is located on the backside of the generator. We'll need to remove the plate here to fill it up. The tool is included. Once you've got all the screws out, it should just pop right off. You can see the yellow filler cap here. That's where we'll be adding the oil. It does come with oil and a funnel. We'll be adding most of the bottle. Let's go ahead and remove the cap. It also doubles as a dipstick. We'll insert our funnel and begin putting in oil. Once it's fully drained down the funnel, you can then remove it and replace our cap. While we've got the cover up, here you can see where the spark plug is, just in case you need to change it or perform any maintenance. You can also access it from the top without having to remove the side cover. Here at the bottom is where you can access your air filter. You'll simply remove the cover and then remove the air filter itself. You'll want to be sure and clean it regularly, let it dry, and then put it back in place. With our back cover in place, now we can add the fuel. It takes .9 gallons of regular gasoline. We will not have to mix in any oil. We take off our cap. With our cap back in place, since we'll be testing it up, we can go ahead and turn it to the on position. We'll then want to turn our fuel to the on position. We'll pull out our choke to the starting position, turn on our engine, and then we can pull our cord. Once we get it started, we can then push our choke in to the run position. With my generator running, let's go ahead and go inside of our camper and check it out. Now that I have power, I can operate my slide out. My refrigerator's running. Now I'm going to pop in some popcorn and relax. That's going to complete our look at the etrailer 2,000 watt portable inverter generator.

I received my Generator extremely fast. (3 days from order date). I haven't taken it camping with me yet but I did add the oil it came with and added gas and started it. It started on the 5th pull. I plugged a toaster into it and that worked fine. I will see how the 30 amp part of it works next week with my camper on the trout streams. 654210

Excellent product. Super easy to start and runs quietly. I’m not sure it’s as quiet as a Honda but, the point is I’m not sure. At $600 bucks cheaper that’s a pretty good deal. Had no issues starting in maintaining my Advent Air ACM 135 rooftop air conditioner. 643787

Review from a similar etrailer etrailer Generator Manual in Generators

One of the two generators in this kit did not have an air filter element in it. Glad I took the air filter cover off and checked before running it. Seems like good quality product. Parallel wires are very small diameter. I will have to check parallel operations to know if that feature works as advertised. Each of the two generators start easy, run quiet, and support 1600 watts with ease. 569803

Review from a similar etrailer etrailer Generator Manual in Generators

I have right at 5 hours on it as of today. In the AM I'll fire it up for about ten minutes and then change oil to full synthetic. We have yet to hit the road with it however we've been "camping" here at the house to work out any bugs so that when we do travel we won't forget anything. We have a 2019 Jayco 212 QB that has a 13,500 K ac, microwave, plus the other standard RV stuff. The generator powers both the ac and the microwave simultaneously without issue. We were surprised at how quiet the unit is even when it powers up to handle the ac cycling on. Able to sleep without interruption. All in all a great unit at a great price. My neighbor has a Honda which won't handle his AC so I expect he'll be ordering one sooner or later. Almost forgot to mention the 30 amp RV outlet, what a plus that is. 636148

The Goal Zero Yeti 150 Solar Generator with Nomad 14 Plus Solar Panel # 287-42060 can only put out .7 of an amp at 110 volt so it's not going to be ideal. You'd need more of a standard type of generator like the etrailer 2,000-Watt Portable Inverter Generator - 1,600 Running Watts # 333-0001 for your application or you'd need some longer extension cords to get the power where you'll be. It also really depends...

  • Is Changing High Altitude Jets of etrailer.com Generator Difficult
  • The install of the high altitude jets in the etrailer.com generator part # 333-0001 is not overly difficult. • Can Goal Zero Yeti 400 Lithium Power Station be Used for 450 Watt AC
  • The Goal Zero Yeti 400 Lithium Power Station # 287-43110 that you referenced has a 300 watt continuous output on the AC inverter port (which does have a pure sine wave output) so it's not going to be enough to start or run your AC unit that draws 450 watts. For this kind of power you will likely need to go with a standard generator like the etrailer.com # 333-0001 that features a starting output of 2,000 watts and a running output of 1,600 watts. • Yes, you can install an air conditioning unit on your 2007 Fleetwood Highlander Avalon. However, you will need to cut a 14" x 14" hole in the roof and you will need to route the power and ground wires to your breaker.
