I'm Matt with etrailer. Today we'll be talking about what's gonna be the best Cummins generator for you since there are gonna be a lot of different generators and they have a lot of different uses. So what I like about the Cummins generators are they're gonna be very stout. They're gonna last you a long time since they're made by Cummins and they're built well. The other thing that I really like about 'em is they're very convenient to use. So whether you're looking for something lightweight, also portable, or you want something that's gonna start up at just the press of a button from a remote, a lot of these are gonna have those features and we're gonna talk about that today.
But what I like about a portable generator is they're very versatile. They can help you out in a lot of different circumstances. So whether you're someone who's going on a camping trip with your RV, you wanna make sure you can power up your AC, any other accessories, you can do that or you wanna use it for the work site, powering up your tools, also good for that too or if you just want to use this as a backup power source at home when a storm comes through, you lose power. You don't wanna lose all your groceries in your fridge, that's where these come in hand. But with all these generators, it's kind of hard to make that choice of which one's gonna be good for you.
So there's gonna be a couple things to think about and those things are gonna be, one is gonna be the Wattage required to power those accessories, the fuel you're gonna be wanting to use to power up your generator, and how convenient it is to actually use and how efficient it's gonna be and we're gonna talk about all those right now but let's start with fuel. Alright, so the way I have these organized is gonna be from smallest to largest. Now when it comes to your fuel use, if you're someone who's only gonna be using gas, we have two generators that just strictly use only gas, and that's gonna be this 2,500 Watt and this 4,500 Watt. So if you need to power up, you'll be able to grab one of those cans, fill up just like that. But if this isn't gonna be enough wattage for you, we can take a closer look at some of the other ones.
Now the rest of these are also gonna use gas and they'll be able to use propane too. And I like that versatility out of it because some cases you might wanna use gas, others you might wanna use propane. I know a lot of people don't like using gas in some circumstances 'cause they don't wanna deal with the smell. You don't want to have to deal with the spilling all over the place inside the RV. There's a lot of reasons why you might want one over the other.
And a lot of times gas is gonna be a little bit more affordable than propane, but really just comes down to what's more convenient for you at that time. Now when it comes to the different sizes of wattage, we are gonna have another one at 4,500 Watts. This one only difference here is it can use propane too. Then we're gonna have a 5,000 Watt, a 9,500 Watt, another 9,500 Watt and then a 11,000 Watt. And I do wanna bring up that, well we might have some really big ones here. You might think, oh, you wanna go with that one because bigger is better. That's not always gonna be the case 'cause sometimes it comes down to efficiency. I wanna talk about that now. The two factors that affect their efficiency are gonna be that whether it's an inverter and if it's an EFI. So what an inverter is is gonna be how we take in power and then how it efficiently uses that. So what's nice about inverters is, let's say you got an accessory that doesn't draw a lot of power, typically a standard generator would run at a higher RPM. What an inverter is able to do is actually lower that and it also gives us more clean power for our accessories. So all the generators I have over here are gonna be inverter generators except for two of 'em. And there's gonna be these ones right here that are gonna be more exposed. So these are also gonna be a fair bit louder than the rest of them. So that's something else to consider. These probably aren't gonna be the most ideal for campgrounds, but what I do like about 'em is they're pretty sturdy, very robust. We got all these metal touch points as opposed to our other inverter ones. By tapping on the side, you can tell that has more of that plastic casing, still pretty sturdy, but if you had a job site, this might be the better one for you. Now when it comes to EFI, that's gonna be an electric fuel injection and that's gonna be the way we actually burn fuel efficiently. So they're just more efficient at burning fuel. And then the other thing is they can work in higher altitudes as well without any issues. And the ones that we are gonna have that are gonna be EFIs is gonna be this 5,000 Watt and it's gonna be this 9,500 Watt. And the way you can tell them apart from the rest of 'em is when we look at this name we have on it where it says our actual Wattage. After that there's gonna be an E in the name. That's how you're able to tell. And before we go into who these are gonna be specifically for, I do wanna talk about the convenience about these a little bit more. So the one that's gonna look a little bit different from the rest of them is gonna be the 2,500 Watt. And this one's gonna be the only one that's really designed to be carried like this to go wherever you need it to be. All the other ones though are gonna have some wheels and they actually do have handles so you can move them and even like you can move 'em like a suitcase. So pretty easy to do, but they're gonna get a lot heavier, especially on the other side of things, upwards to 219 pounds and that's the dry weight. But something that this one doesn't have is gonna be a remote button that's restarted up or even a button on it at all. The only way to start this one is actually come over here and pull on this pull string. Now all the other ones are gonna have the remote start, they're gonna have the button to press too, but they also do include some type of manual pull system to start 'em up just in case anything happens to that remote. But with all that said, who are these really gonna be for So I'm gonna break it down in two different ways. We'll have broad categories and then I'll go more specifically after that. So broadly speaking, if you're just someone who's going RVing, I think any of these are gonna be just fine for you except for the two 9,500 ones here. They're just gonna be a little bit loud and other people at the campgrounds probably aren't gonna be super happy about these. (generator whirring) Now on the flip side of things, if you're at a work site, these are probably gonna be my top picks because when we compare the housing of these, especially with something like this, it's gonna have this plastic housing. So these are just a little bit more robust and sturdy and it doesn't really matter if you're making a little bit more noise anyways. And for the last scenario, if you're trying to use something at home, again, all these are gonna be just fine. It's gonna depend on what you're trying to run. Most people at the end of the day, they just wanna be able to run their fridge. So even some of those smaller generators are gonna be just fine. But once you start throwing AC, if you wanna throw your TV on so you can actually watch the news and tack on a few other things to that, you probably wanna stick to a minimum of the 9,500. But for me, I think the top pick is gonna be the 11,000 one. The main reason is 'cause this is going to use a tri fuel so it can use gas, propane, and natural gas. It's the only one that can do that. And when you run natural gas off of this, this can last for 50 hours. But let's talk more specifically to who each one of these are going to be for now. So when it comes to someone who's gonna be a weekend camper, you maybe have a smaller trail, you're just trying to run your AC overnight so you can stay nice and cool when you sleep, you probably want to go with a 2,500 Watt since it is gonna be very small, very portable and easy to store in your actual trailer. Now if you need a little bit more power, 'cause you have a larger trailer you're trying to run, maybe another AC or some other accessories as well. This is gonna be more of the standard RVer right here. Whether you just want to use gas or you want the ability to use propane as well, you can go with this other 4,500 Watt. Now if you want the most efficient generator that we have here at etrailer, that's gonna be the 5,000 one since it is an inverter and it's gonna be an EFI and it's gonna have a little bit more power compared to the 4,500s. But if that's not enough power to you, we can jump right over to our 9,500. So this one right here is great for those work applications. You really don't care that it is a little bit louder, you want a lot of bang for your buck. This is a good one here. But if you want something more efficient because you're gonna be running your tools for extended periods of time, you don't wanna be burning through your fuel very fast, then you might wanna go with the EFI version. And then lastly, I think this is a great all rounder one. This is gonna be our 11,000. It's gonna be still pretty efficient, but it's also gonna make sure that we are gonna be good for those at home uses since you can have this running for 50 hours if you're using that natural gas, if you want to use it with your RVs, it's not too loud and it still is pretty sturdy for those work applications.
