Features to know about

Built to Handle Serious Weight: 38,000 lbs GTW and 9,500 lbs Vertical Load

This underbed gooseneck hitch is made for heavy-duty towing. With a gross towing weight of 38,000 lbs and a vertical load limit of 9,500 lbs when using the included 2-5/16" ball, it’s ready for big trailers and long hauls. The sturdy steel construction and tested-to-SAE J2638 design give you the confidence that it’ll stay solid under heavy strain. Add the optional 3" ball (C74NQ?– sold separately) and you can step up to a 40,000 lb GTW rating with a 10,000 lb vertical load limit.

Full Bed Access When You’re Not Towing: Pop-In Ball and Below-the-Bed Design

The pop-in ball design gives you strength when towing and complete bed access when you’re done. It locks in place with a built-in ball-bearing system, then lifts out easily using the integrated lever. Because the hitch installs below the bed, removing the ball leaves only a clean ball hole and spring-loaded safety-chain hookups—no bulky hardware taking up space when you need an open bed.

Simple, One-Person Installation: Compact Bolt-On Design

This setup was built to make DIY installation straightforward. The compact pieces are light enough for one person to lift into place without extra help, and it bolts on with no welding or frame drilling required. Fewer steps and fewer components mean you can get it installed quickly and be ready to tow without a complicated process.

Video Transcript for Review of CURT Gooseneck Hitch - PowerHaul Double Lock Custom Underbed OEM Style Hitch - C64NQ

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at this CURT Power Haul Double lock Custom Underbed OEM-Style Gooseneck Trailer Hitch. Now, this has been designed to fit your 2020 and newer Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, both the 2500 and 3500 models, without the OEM prep package. And on custom fit parts such as this kit, I do recommend taking advantage of our Vehicle Fit Guide here at etrailer. Simply input the year, make, and model of your vehicle and answer any other questions that it might have for you, and our Fit Guide will do the work of confirming if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now, if you're looking for a heavy-duty gooseneck hitch that's going to keep your truck bed clear when you're not towing, this is really gonna be a great option for you to consider.

This is an underbed, OEM-style gooseneck hitch, which means that everything is going to mount underneath the bed of your truck, so you're not gonna lose any usable space in the bed of your truck. So, when you're ready to tow, you're just going to drop the ball into place as I have it here. And then when you're not, the ball's gonna come out and flip over for a clean bed surface. Now, I do have this loosely installed sitting on blocks here just to give you an overview, a general idea of what this is going to look like, and I also wanted to show you that ball in action. But on your screen I'm showing you some photos here of what this is going to look like assembled and when it's going to look like when you have all the pieces together.

The picture on the top left is the top view or the overhead view. And then the photo that you see there on the bottom right is what it looks like underneath. You see that handle there with the red grip there on the top. That handle is actually going to pull and twist to allow the removal of the ball, and then when you push that handle back in, it's going to lock that ball into place. So giving you a close-up here, you see the ball, this is a 2 5/16 inch ball.

When you're not towing, you're just going to flip this over like so. And then that is going to go down to where it is completely out of your way. And the ball's actually got like a little a handle on there that's going to allow it to be. Very easy to get a grip on it. But I told you about that handle that you saw in the photos, the handle's right here.

And so you're just going to pull that and give it a twist to lock this into place so you can easily remove the ball and then let it push back in, retract, if you will, to lock that ball into place. So this is gonna be a very easy operation, and so like I said, I just didn't have room on my table to put all the parts out here for you, but hopefully those images will give you a good idea of what to expect. Overall, this is built for very serious heavy-duty towing. With the 2 5/16-inch ball, this is gonna be rated to pull up to 38,000 pounds with a vertical load limit of 9,500 pounds. And then there is an optional three-inch ball that you could pick up. And if you use that three-inch ball, the gross towing weight goes up to 40,000 pounds and the vertical load limit is up to 10,000 pounds. If you want to take a look at that three-inch ball and maybe add that to your order on your screen, I am including the model number there for that three-inch ball. We do carry that. So as I was explaining, CURT does use a double-lock pin system, so that ball is going to be secured with two locking points, instead of just one. And what that means for you is extra peace of mind, especially with those heavy loads. The installation's gonna be pretty user-friendly with this hitch as well. By the way, I just wanted to show you where those two pins are gonna go through on that ball. You can see it's gonna be very secure. Installation is going to be relatively user-friendly. This is gonna be a bolt-on install. No weldings required, which is great. And you don't need to remove the bed or mess with exhaust systems, or spare tires, or anything like that. You're just going to drill the necessary holes and bolt everything up into place. So this is built from heavy-duty steel and it is finished to resist rust and corrosion. It is tested to industry safety standards. So this is something that you're gonna be able to rely on long-term, and it also places the gooseneck ball slightly in front of your rear axle, which is gonna be an ideal position for stable balance towing. So overall, this is gonna be a very strong, durable, high-capacity solution that's going to give you factory-style performance without sacrificing bed space, which is a huge plus. It's gonna be a great choice if you're looking for something that is gonna be a tough, dependable hitch for heavy-duty gooseneck towing. If you happen to have any other questions, whether it's about this kit or anything else that we have here at etrailer, don't hesitate to reach out to us. Ultimately, we do wanna be sure that you're getting exactly what you need. Well, again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

  • Installing Curt PowerHaul Custom Underbed OEM-Style Gooseneck Trailer Hitch on 2021 Chevrolet 2500
Hey Domonic, No worries, we have some tips and tricks that will help. You’re dealing with fishwire and the spacers. This is the part of the install that trips up almost everyone the first time. First, you want to find an access hole in the frame. Look along the side or bottom of the frame rail, there’s usually a bigger oval or round hole somewhere nearby. Once you find that, grab your fish wire and thread it onto the carriage bolt. Just screw the coiled end of the wire onto the bolt...
