This Curt overbed gooseneck hitch is made for serious towing. It’s rated for a gross towing weight of 30,000 lbs and a vertical load limit of 7,500 lbs, giving you the muscle to move heavy livestock, dump, or equipment trailers with confidence. The steel hitch ball is sturdy and durable, locking solidly in place with its stainless steel safety pin and pivot spring to prevent binding under pressure.
When you’re done towing, fold the 2-5/16" ball down into the deck and close the door over it. The fold-down design keeps your truck bed flat and ready for loading gear or materials without a hitch in the way. A simple pull of the T-handle lets you raise or lower the ball—even when you’re wearing thick work gloves—so you can switch between towing and hauling fast.
The included custom installation kit is built specifically for a direct bolt-on setup—no welding required. It comes with two U-bolt safety chain loops that mount securely through the bed for quick trailer hookup. The carbide black powder coated finish over steel helps resist corrosion, keeping the hitch looking sharp and performing strong over time.
If your setup changes, this hitch can pair with the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550045 for a 21K rated fifth wheel connection that installs right on the gooseneck ball. That flexibility makes it easy to tow different trailers without swapping out your entire hitch system.
Ratings & Reviews
Fast shipping, received in 2 days, installed day I received, great quality, customer service was very helpful. Instructions that came with the Curt 30k gooseneck hitch was not detailed but barely sufficient if you have basic mechanical skills,
Got this for the 01 2500HD Sierra. Metal is extremely thick and strong. However, The holes for the bracket pull the cross bars up to the bottom of the truck better. Makes it seem like a lot of the weight is resting on the bolts and not the crossbars/frame.
Over all a very stout set up but I was disappointed that I have factory threaded inserts in my frame for gooseneck hitches less than 2 inches from where this one mounts but this just didn't utilize them. It does use holes in the frame so there isn't any drilling though. Also you have to cut the bottom seam of the bed inside the wheel well (per instructions) to get the cross members in and have to cut a rather large square hole in the bed floor instead of just a hole for the ball ( also per instructions).
This Curt Overbed folding ball goose trailer hitch has worked like a charm since installing last summer. I would recommend it to customers looking for replacement gooseneck hitches on their rigs.
Good product, at a great price
Not very happy with this hitch. Install was much more difficult than my prior hitch. It's intrusive in the bed (the big rectangular plate is thick and you always know it's there). One winter on it and it's rusting and becoming difficult to deploy. It's hard to get the pin extended to secure the ball at times. Overall it's just not an impressive product in my opinion.
its solid , no issues so far ...... the only little detail is the chain connectors they somehow by design tend be difficult to extend up and down but its an easy fix that got done on day one and no problem since
I was looking for a 5th wheel solution and found this setup. Install was strait forward and Easy. It workes great with my 26 foot camper trailer. It folds almost flat with the bed floor for a flat load surface for sheet goods. The bottom of the mount does not drop to low to impead with exhaust pipe, hoses, drive shaft or rear diff. A great product sold by a good company that's there with support and solutions. Thanks etrailer.
Etrailer is awesome, not so much for this product.
My first and primary issue is that the safety chain u-bolts are positioned to close to the angle iron brackets to allow clearance for them to freely move up and down with the nuts installed (see photos). I can force them up from below with a hammer and stomped them back down from above. This problem is made worse due to the proximity to the ball, if I dont ensure they arent stomped down as much as possible they would interfere with my coupler when turning. I'm honestly still worried about interference if I find myself in any off camber turn.
The other problem I have isnt the fault of the hitch, but now that its installed it is still much more intrusive to the bed space when folded flat than I anticipated. In the past I've had under bed mount balls, this being a work truck I thought the cheaper option would work but I regret that decision.
Great product, very easy to install. Did it in an afternoon by myself. A lift is helpful but it could be done with jack stands on the ground.
Works great
Great product thank you
website was easy to navigate, easy to order, and my order arrived a day early.
Good & strong hitch Not my first one to install
use the directions they are good.
I am extremely happy with my hitch! It was a pretty easy install, and I’ve never had trouble hauling large loads! Perfect for my horse trailers.
The hitch works as it should a little hard to install if you don’t have the right tools but if you do it’s not bad as far as fit it fit perfect in my f-350
The ball works just fine once you get it up and locked. The locking mechanism has to be greased or never-ceased almost every time. The tie downs for safety chains were hampered during installation by an existing cross member, but we got it in. Overall as for useability I vote "works fine" as for installation instructions are close.
Inside the bed it closes to give me all working area, I would buy it again.
Haven’t installed yet but looks good shipping was not good box open all hardware all over
Very nice product!!! Works well and is easy to install. Would have given it a 5 star but the product did not come with install papers so had to look up online. I tow a 28 foot gooseneck regularly and it does great!!! Also like that it lays flat in bed for when I need to haul something without trailer.
Terrible instructions need more actual pics of where to place the plates ect.
The hitch is heavy duty. The brackets that bolt to the frame seem too flimsy. They should be twice as thick as they are. A couple of the bolt holes did not line up so we ended up drilling my frame to mount. Would not recommend this if you are not comfortable drilling holes and cutting on your frame or bed.
