When you press the brakes in your coach, the Air Force One mirrors that pressure instantly in the towed vehicle for smooth, balanced stops. It ties directly into the motorhome’s air brakes and uses the same air pressure to apply the toad’s brakes at the same time and with the same intensity. Because it’s a proportional system, there’s no lag or harshness—just even braking that feels natural and safe every time you slow down or stop.

Most vehicles lose their vacuum-assist when the engine is off, which can make supplemental braking systems feel grabby or stiff. The Air Force One solves that by reactivating the vehicle’s own vacuum-assist using the coach’s air supply. This means the pedal pressure stays consistent, braking feels normal, and there’s less strain on the toad’s components.
Once installed, the Air Force One becomes part of the vehicle. The operating unit mounts under the hood with a compact profile that stays tucked away and out of sight. The actuating cylinder connects permanently to the brake pedal arm and anchor point but doesn’t interfere with everyday driving. With the Safe Haul-specific coiled air hose—7' long when stretched—you simply plug in and go. The system turns on automatically when connected, with no need to reset or reposition anything.

Safety is built right in. The LED indicator light mounts on the dash so you can see when the brakes are actually being applied, not just when the system activates. A breakaway switch and cable are included to bring the towed vehicle to a controlled stop if it ever separates from the RV. The main unit keeps a reserve air supply and seals off the coach’s brakes to ensure the motorhome still stops normally. Everything meets FMVSS safety guidelines for air-braked motorhomes.

Designed to complete the factory-installed Safe Haul prep on 2019 and newer Spartan motorhomes, this kit includes the Spartan Safe Haul-specific coiled air hose, breakaway switch, and all necessary components. It’s a one-time setup that works with power-assist brakes and hybrids, stays hidden once installed, and delivers reliable, proportional braking every trip.

Flat towing can be a much more convenient way to take your car RVing with you than using a trailer or a tow dolly. It'll save you storage space both at home and at the campsite, and it takes less time and hassle to hook up.
To flat tow your vehicle, there are 5 basic components you're going to need: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a flat tow braking system.
| For the RV | Between the RV and Towed Car | For the Towed Car |
|---|---|---|
| Hitch | Tow bar | Base plate |
| Wiring plug | Safety cables | Braking system |
| Wiring adapter cord | Wiring kit/diodes |
The custom-fit base plate installs on the frame of your toad so you can connect the car to your RV with a tow bar. Hook up safety cables between the vehicles to ensure that the toad does not separate from the motorhome if the tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring syncs your vehicle's signal lights with your motorhome's tail lights, as required by law in most states. Finally, the flat tow braking system - also required in most states - activates the brakes in the toad when you hit the brakes in the RV, making for smoother, safer braking, and preventing wear on your motorhome.

Ratings & Reviews
Installation of the Air Force One braking system in my DP went very smooth and was easy to do. I just followed the instructions and it presented no unforeseen challenges. The system works as it should and has been a good investment.
Installed it myself and with the exception of nervously making sure that I cut the correct air brake lines, it was a good installation experience.
The Air Force One system is rock solid and provides reliable braking for my TOAD. Installation took some time, but everything is working as expected. Teh etrailer tutorials on YouTube were fantastic! I learned little tricks for operation and installation from all the techs going through the set-up, installation and operation of the Air Force One system.
I haven't installed it yet but expect to enjoy it based on other review. While watching the videos to help me make my decision, I thought the unit I was buying had the wireless dash monitor as compared to the LED that mounts on the towed vehicle mirror. When I opened the box, I realized what I bought. I see you can purchase the dash monitor separately so ordering it today. If you want the dash monitor, make sure you purchase the correct kit.
This is the second Air Force one I have purchased. The installation instructions are great. Etrailer installation videos are very helpful. I would highly recommend this braking system if you’re in the market.( and have air brakes)
2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Air Force One controller mounted on top of battery case. Air fitting & breakaway switch mounted on the Blue Ox baseplate.
Easy install. Works like a champ. I'm not thrilled with their proprietary air hose connectors. I ordered a spare hose to have on hand.
Prompt delivery
I has been working perfectly and has not caused any on my truck.
Great product, easy to install.
Easy to install and you tube videos helped tremendously.
Great product but better service
This is a complicated install. If you’ve never done one, expect to spend 8-10 hours to do it right. A few suggestions for improvement: 1 the ring connector for the main power wire should be larger. 2 many of the videos show a reed switch with 3 wires; mine had 2. Also the colors on it and the red light have changed and the wiring has changed. I would recommend recording new installation videos or add a change notice at the beginning of each video. 3 brake release switch wire is too short. Yes, the video says this, but why not make it 4 feet longer?
Air Force One is a great system. Very simple to install and has worked flawlessly! Highly recommend this braking system!
Good directions and video to help insta llation
William was GR8 to work with. Unfortunately USPS decided to Lose the shipment. William sent a replacement and within a week the original purchase was refunded. I learned to use UPS for all shipping needs
