Come Up Winch ATV Series

This Cub 2s ATV recovery winch is designed for light-duty work and recreational applications. It's perfect for your 250cc - 350cc sport quad 4x4, 2-wheel drive ATV, or snowmobile with a maximum GVW of 1,000 lbs. The handlebar-mounted rocker switch lets you control the winch from the seat of your ATV. The motor, gearbox, and contactor are sealed for water resistance. The winch also includes dual brakes to ensure reliable load holding, a synthetic rope, and a hawse fairlead.

Light-Duty, 0.8-Horsepower Motor

Come Up Winch ATV Series motor

This winch features a 0.8-horsepower, 12-volt DC motor with 2,000 lbs of line pull. The permanent magnet motor offers the same line-pulling power and speed as a series-wound motor of comparable size, but it's lighter and uses less current. The motor is sealed to keep out water, and it's constructed of durable, corrosion-resistant materials including the powder coated housing, copper battery terminals, and zinc-plated steel hardware.

Sealed Contactor

Come Up Winch ATV Series contactor

The contactor transmits power from the ATV's battery to the winch motor and to the handlebar-mounted rocker switch. It will typically be mounted with included hardware under the ATV's front cover or hood near the battery.

The 250-amp contactor is sealed to meet IP68 specifications for water and weather resistance. The copper terminals and carbon steel hardware are also corrosion resistant.

Free-Spooling Clutch

Come Up Winch ATV Series clutch

The free-spool clutch enables you to pull out the rope by hand. This saves battery power, prevents the brake from wearing down prematurely, reduces wear on the motor, and is much faster than waiting for the drum to power out the rope. To release the clutch for free-spooling simply rotate the red plastic lever to the disengaged position indicated on the label. To reengage the clutch, rotate the lever to the engaged position.

The clutch is driven by a 3-stage planetary gear train. This provides more speed than traditional worm gear drives or 1- or 2-stage gear trains.

Automatic, Load-Holding Mechanical and Dynamic Brakes

This winch includes both a mechanical brake and a dynamic brake. This dual braking system provides a physical brake inside the drum and supplemental braking force generated by the winch motor. The 2 brakes operate simultaneously to ensure more reliable load holding when compared with single-brake ATV winches.

The automatic mechanical brake securely holds a load and prevents unintentional payout (or creep). When the winch motor is stopped, a large spring coil inside the drum expands to press against the spring chamber. The pressure of the spring on the wall of the spring chamber creates resistance that prevents the drum from rotating. This spring contracts when the winch is in gear to allow the drum to rotate.

When the winch is pulling the rope in or paying it out, the motor is not applying resistance to the drum. When you stop powering the rope in or out, the dynamic brake uses resistance from the motor to help hold the load.

Handlebar-Mounted Rocker Switch

Come Up Winch ATV Series rocker switch

The handlebar-mounted rocker switch lets you operate the winch from the seat of your ATV. It includes mounting hardware and an 8' wiring harnesss with quick connects. There is also a wireless remote kit (CU881286 - sold separately) that lets you control the winch from up to 100' away.

Synthetic Rope

Come Up Winch ATV Series synthetic rope

The synthetic rope is made of 12-strand Dyneema SK75 fiber that is lightweight yet stronger than steel. This synthetic rope is safer to use than a steel rope because it generates less kinetic energy - and therefore less kickback - if a break occurs. It won't stretch - or creep - over time like steel rope can. And it's also less likely to fray and create sharp strands so it's easier to handle and easier to spool.

The rope winds around a die-cast aluminum drum. The mounting flanges are strong enough to resist bending or breaking if the rope wrap becomes uneven and excess stress is put on the drum.

A 6', woven-polyester protective sleeve at the hook end of the rope provides extra protection for your hands. A hand-saver strap is also included to use in conjunction with leather work gloves (CU881558 - sold separately) so that you can safely handle the rope and hook.

Come Up Winch ATV Series hook

The removable hook is made of high-strength forged steel that is heavy duty and rust resistant. It has a spring-loaded safety latch for quick fastening and removal. The hook attaches to a steel thimble on the end of the synthetic rope.

Hawse Fairlead

Come Up Winch ATV Series hawse fairlead

The cast aluminum hawse fairlead is designed to be used with synthetic rope. It helps guide the rope as it's winding in and out, and it has a rounded hole to help prevent wear. The 3/4" thick fairlead has a black anodized finish that resists corrosion, and it installs with stainless steel hardware.

Note: The hawse fairlead does not mount directly to the winch - it typically attaches to tabs on the ATV base plate (sold separately) or custom mounting plate (sold separately). ComeUp mounting plates and most aftermarket mounts include these tabs.

Rugged Construction

Come Up Winch ATV Series construction

The winch is constructed of strong, durable materials that are able to withstand any weather condition or terrain. The contactor is sealed and submersible. The motor and gearbox units are made of corrosion-resistant powder coated steel, and they are sealed to keep water out. The steel tie-bars and extra-thick side frame drum supports help to create a strong and rigid winch body.

To install the winch on the front of your ATV you will need a suitable mounting location. In most cases you will need to bolt a custom mounting plate (sold separately) to the front framework of your ATV in order to mount the winch and fairlead. If you have a mounting plate that does not have tabs for your fairlead you can bolt the winch and fairlead to a base plate (CU880232 - sold separately), then bolt the base plate to your mounting plate.

Come Up Winch ATV Series

The contactor will typically mount under the front cover or hood near the battery. You will need to drill 2 small holes in the mounting surface to secure the unit with the included hardware. Black and red leads connect your vehicle's battery to the contactor, blue and yellow leads connect the contactor to the winch terminals, black and green leads connect the contactor to the rocker switch, and a red lead connects the rocker switch to the ATV master switch. The leads have quick connectors that make removing and re-installing the winch easy. Any excess wiring can be neatly tucked around the engine and secured with zip-ties (not included).

You can mount the rocker switch on either handlebar but it's typically mounted near the brake on the handlebar opposite the throttle. This allows you to control the winch and accelerate the ATV at the same time. It includes mounting hardware and an 8' wiring harnesss with built-in quick connects.

Winch Line Pull Capacity

Layers of RopeCapacity (lbs)Total Rope on Drum (ft)
1st Layer2,0007-7/8
2nd Layer1,68017-1/2
3rd Layer1,44828-3/16
4th Layer1,27240-11/16
5th Layer1,13550

The line pull capacity of your winch is determined by the maximum load your winch can pull with a single layer of rope on the drum. As more layers of rope are wound onto the drum, pulling the same load requires more force, leading to a loss in winching power. With a 2nd layer of rope around the drum, your line pull capacity is reduced by approximately 14 percent. With 3 layers on the drum, the line pull capacity is reduced by approximately 23 percent, and with 4 layers on the drum it is reduced by approximately 35 percent.

Note: It is recommended that you begin any line pull with a minimum of 5 wraps and a maximum of 2 layers of rope on the drum.

Double-Line Pulling

Double-Line Pulling

Increase the pulling capacity of your winch by doubling up the rope with a pulley block (CU881080 - sold separately). Secure the pulley block to a tree saver strap (CU881091 - sold separately) with a bow shackle (CU881092 - sold separately) to provide a strong anchor for your double-line pull. Using double-line operation will approximately double your winch's pulling capacity.

Video Transcript for ComeUp Electric Winch - ATV - UTV Winch - CU122390 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number CU122390. This is the ComeUp Cub 2s Powersports ATV Winch with a synthetic rope design. It's going to help you get out mud, snow, ice, or whatever obstacle stands in your way. It's designed for endurance and reliability. It's going to feature a high efficient, low amp drawl and sealed permanent magnet motor. This right here is going to be the submersible sealed contactor.

This is going to handle high amps and allows higher duty cycle. It disconnects your winch from the power source when the vehicle is not in use. Just keep in mind that this should be mounted close to the battery. Now it's going to come with your wiring, so the contactor is going to have 4 posts on it. 1 is blue, 1 is yellow, 1 is red, 1 is black. We're going to have red, black, blue and yellow wiring.

The yellow and blue wiring runs from the winch to the contactor, and then the red and black wiring is going to run from the contactor to the ATV battery. This right here is going to be our handlebar rocker switch, that way we can control the in and out functions of the synthetic rope from the seat of the ATV. It simple just mounts to the handlebar. All the necessary mounting hardware for the rocker switch, as well as the wiring and connection point, all that's going to be included. Again, it is going to feature color coded wires and color coded posts that way it makes installation a little bit easier, making sure the wires get connected to the correct posts.

We're going to have a 2,000 pound rated single line pool. The motor on the unit is 600 watt, 0.8 horsepower 12 volt permanent magnet motor. This is going to feature a 3 stage planetary gear system. The gear ratio is 103:1. It's going to offer a really good pulling force. On this end of the winch, we're going to have our clutch.

We're going to have the disengaged position, and the engaged position. When the lever is in the engaged position, that means that our winch is ready to bring in the rope and bring in the load. When it's in the disengaged position, it allows the winch to go into a free spool mode, that way we can grab the end of our rope, pull it out as far as we need to to hook onto our load or to our anchor points. It's going to come with an aluminum inaudible 00:02:19 fair lead. Wire rope runs through there. Nice smooth edges, that's going to reduce friction on the synthetic rope, making sure that the rope lasts us a long time. Now keep in mind that the fair lead is not designed to mount to the winch, it's actually designed to mount to the winch mounting bracket. Mounting brackets are sold separately, since it varies depending on your ATV or your particular setup. The hardware necessary to get the inaudible 00:02:46 fair lead attached to the bracket is included. It's also going to come with the hardware to get the winch mounted to the bracket using the 4 mounting holes here on the bottom of the winch. It's going to feature a mechanical and dynamic load holding brake, it's going to offer 100% braking, aluminum die cast drum construction, it's going to feature a center drum design. It's going to give us a drum hub diameter of 1-1/2" and a length of 3", and then we're going to have a really nice, strong durable steel housing. Now again, this does use a synthetic rope. This is SK-75 synthetic rope, and it's going to come with the grade 70 forged steel hook with the pin and clip. It hooks right onto the end there, and it's going to have the hand saver strap that makes it really easy to hook onto our load or anchor point. Spring loaded design to prevent accidental disconnecting, so that's a great feature as well. The rope's going to measure 50' long by 5/32" in diameter. When it comes to the recommended battery, it is recommended, we're going to give you the minimum battery recommendation for winching. That's 550 CCA. We're going to take a look at the bolt pattern. It's also going to come with a nice little template. It gives the exact sizing and the measurements on there as well. That's going to come in the same packet as the instructions. Measuring this direction center on center, these holes are going to be separated. It's going to give us a measurement . Looks to be pretty close to 5". Then going this direction, our holes are going to be separated by 3". Right here on the template, it's going to measure in millimeters, so 124mm going long ways, and then the depth or width, 76mm. Now the winch is going to weigh about 14 pounds. When I took a measurement from outer edge to outer edge, it gave us an overall length of about 11-1/4". The width from edge to edge measured about 4", and then the height from bottom to top measured about 4-3/4". Now the last thing I want to go over is the line speed and amp draw. It's going to be rated with the first layer of rope on the drum, so if we don't have a load connected to the winch, it's going to have a line speed of 20' per minute, and it's going to draw 20 amps at 12 volts. With 668 pounds on the hook here connected to the winch, line speed is 15.1' per minute at 50 amps. With 1,334 pounds we're looking at 10.2' per minute at 100 amps. With max capacity of 2,000 pounds pulling on the line, we're looking at 6.6' per minute at 150 amps at 12 volts. That's going to do it for today's look at part number CU122390.

ComeUp Cub 2s ATV Winch - Synthetic Rope - Hawse Fairlead - 2,000 lbs - CU122390

Average Customer Rating:  4.8 out of 5 stars   (6 Customer Reviews)

Light-duty winch with 0.8-hp, permanent magnet motor lets you quickly and safely recover a stuck ATV. Sealed design ensures winch operates in any environment. Dual brakes offer reliable load holding. Handlebar rocker switch included.

This was the product that most closely matched the high end original winch on my Polaris ATV. The same design, dimensions and bolt pattern allowed an easy swap out. Primary use will be operation as snowplow lift. The ease of swap out slowed as I used my original mounting plate assembly that may have been thicker than a replacement. I required mounting bolts 1/4 longer than the supplied hardware.
I would recommend this as an affordable replacement winch, completed plowing and pleased with my choice.

I’ve had this winch on an 03 Polaris sportsman 700 for a year, and so far I’ve been very pleased with it. Bought it to use with a snowplow and it worked like a champ all through last winter. Has also worked on anything I’ve needed to use it for, i.e. pulling logs, pulling out the stuck garden tractor, etc. no complaints so far, works every time.

Still going strong, have used more times than I want to admit. It has saved us over and over. Love the synthetic rope over the wire version I had prior to this.

Exactly what I was looking for. The 1 bad thing is battery cable is too short but I can extend.

  • Can I Replace Hand Winch With ATV Winch On Jack Rack Hoist
It is possible to replace the winch on your Viking Solutions Rack Jack II Hoist part # 310-VRJ001 with an ATV winch like part # CU122390. ATV winches are rated for horizontal pull not to lift or hoist however, I did contact ComeUp (one of our winch manufactures) and they said since all you are using it for is to lift a kayak you would be okay to mount it to the Rack Jack. Please keep in mind the ATV style winches are not made to lift so I would not lift anything heavier than your kayak...

  • Purpose and Length of Red Portion Of Synthetic Rope # CU28XR for ComeUp Cub ATV Winch
I reached out to COMEUP Winch for the measurements you asked for. While they were unable to provide me with exact lengths of the red rope on the Replacement Synthetic Rope # CU28XR, they identified it is there to ensure that you have the minimum 5 wraps around the drum of their ComeUp Cub ATV Winch # CU123933, # CU122392, # CU122390, # CU129302, and # CU129412. That would be a length of approximately 3-1/2' for the red portion on the 50' rope. The end of the rope for this is bound. It...
