Can you replace the manual winch with an ATV 2500 lb winch. Winch weighs about 15 lbs. Only need to lift kayak to top of trailer 50 lb.

It is possible to replace the winch on your Viking Solutions Rack Jack II Hoist part # 310-VRJ001 with an ATV winch like part # CU122390. ATV winches are rated for horizontal pull not to lift or hoist however, I did contact ComeUp (one of our winch manufactures) and they said since all you are using it for is to lift a kayak you would be okay to mount it to the Rack Jack. Please keep in mind the ATV style winches are not made to lift so I would not lift anything heavier than your kayak with it attached to the Jack Rack.
