This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

2003 Ford Escape

Plug and play - thank you for the step by step install video.

Pricey shipping(did 2day cause of time crunch, relocating across country on the 1st). Tracking was on point. Efficient, and the product had all the necessary items for me to complete the job. YouTube video also synced up to exactly what was provided. Couldn’t be happier. All auto shops and uhauls in my area were quoting 10days to two weeks to get me in to install part number 118343, ordered the 25th, received the 27th, installed in a matter of 30min. Solid products, solid information, would recommend these services to family, friends, co-workers. Hell even folks I don’t know. Thanks etrailer!

Excellent product, easy installation

2001 Ford Escape

Product arrived on the day it was estimated. The shipping package was in good shape, but the main product packaging was slightly damaged although the product inside was perfectly in tact along with all the instructions and hardware. They had exactly what I needed and otherwise a hard to find kit for my older model Ford Escape! Thank you again!

The directions weren't completely accurate or fully encompassing. With knowledge of trailer wiring and the vehicle wiring, it's easily figured out, but the directions have simple mistakes. This wasn't quite "plug and play" due to no access panel to easily route the trailer plug to the exterior of the van. In order to not make a large hole, I cut the wires to the exterior plug and ran just the wires through the body, rather than having to feed the large plug through.

Excellent product. Exact fit. Pre drilled holes made it easy for this 67 year old woman to install. Good quality. I also ordered the light kit for my 2003 Ford Escape. Easy to install with provided instructions.

2002 Mazda Tribute

I am very pleased with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver and the ball mount I ordered . I use my trailer frequently to haul lumber, fencing, and riding lawnmower, the product is of good quality and I recommend etrailer

2003 Ford Escape

Ordered this hitch for my 2003 ford Escape. Placed order Sunday eve standard shipping and received wed. Very happy with the product. Drove the rear wheels up on ramps and installed in about 35 min. Slightly difficult by myself but is possible if you hold one side with you foot! I ordered the bolt guide wire which was to lose but twisted it to tighten the spring end so there was no chance of the carriage bolt getting stuck. The wiring loom was plug and play. Whole install hitch and wiring took 1 hour with the help of you tube video.

2002 Mazda Tribute

Mazda Tribute 2002 LX. Excellent product. I watch the installation video which was a big help. No need to get under the vehicle and get dirty. All T connectors were exact fit. My panel where the trailer connection comes through was a little different. Still, I just used my 1/2 drill bit and made 4-5 holes and made an oval for the connector to feed through. I used some black tape to repair the cut you need to make in the grommet for the new cable. For the right side, flat cable I made a "T" cut into the grommet. This allowed the grommet to close around the new cable more naturally and helped with the taping. Used it last weekend, worked like a camp!

When I usually put a trailer wiring harness in I buy the local stuff and then go through all the commotion of trying to get everything to work right never again, bought your product to fit my particular van watched your video then plugged it all in and it worked perfect all for a nice price !!!

I purchased this along with a 75118 hitch. The installation was easy although I am glad I watched the installation video on this website first. The instructions that come with it tell you to take off the trim panels inside the car, this is not necessary. As the video shows, you can run the wires behind the bumper and zip tie them to the hitch. Everything went together easily and it works great.

2003 Ford Escape

I was surprised how easy it was to install the trailer hitch and the wiring harness.
It has worked great and saved me over $150. The pictures really helped.

I bought a used van that had some electrical issues with the factory trailer wiring. When I came across the installation video for this product, I quickly ordered it. Once I got the item, it was VERY easy to install and works like a million bucks!

No more trailer lighting worries!

2003 Ford Escape

This was easy it took me about 1 hour since i did it by myself with 2 jack stands. I did watch a video from some one on how to do this and it helped. They don't tell you when you order or look at the pitchers of what comes with the hitch. But they do include 6 wires for the carriage bolts so you don't need to order a separate one like i did. A helpful hint if you have some small wire of any kind use it to lengthen the back 2 wires for the carriage bolts it makes it easier. That is the only thing i wish they would change is that 2 of the six wires were about 4 to 6 inches longer. this was put on a 2003 ford escape and i did not have to mess with heat shield.

2001 Ford Escape

Got the trailer wiring harness (Part # 118343) for my 2001 Escape. I watched the video, and installation was very easy. The hardest part was getting the tail lights off. Less than an hour of work and I had a great trailer hook up with no wire splicing. Now...its off to the lake with my little boat to catch some fish. Thanks for the prompt shipping and email order and shipping updates. Its ncie to do business with a company that keeps their customers updated on their order. I'll be ordering more from

Product works and was easy to install with a video guide. Written instructions were extremely confusing. I'm not sure what to do with the grounding wire though, because my 03 Escape did not have a predrilled hole for it...?

Thank you for your review! You can just use the metal screw that came with the kit to attach the ground into the sheet metal behind the taillight.

2001 Ford Escape

Great product, fits well on my 2001 Ford Escape. If I'm need another I will purchase from etrailer Corp again. I'll recommend this product to anyone who is in need of this product. Was very easy to install, great for my hauling, help me to move items with ease with my pull behind trailer.

Product is still great, no issues with hauling. I absolutely love it.

2001 Ford Escape

Product showed up on time and as described, was very easy install, and does the job, the only thing I would like to see different, would be that the wires were closer to the correct length, so not so much would need to be bundled. I realize these are made for many different vehicles and I take that into account, I just don't like wires that are bundled and zip tied. This is not my first purchase from etrailer and as long as they maintain the same level of service I see no reason why it will be my last.

2003 Ford Escape

Outside of my own stupidity, this was a super easy install. (I accidentally plugged the T connector into itself and the vehicle wire back on the bulb) Just an FYI to etrailer, there is a great ground connection on the drivers side if the white wire ran with the yellow one instead of finding one on the passenger side.

2003 Ford Escape

Easy install. Brightly burns 14 lights on my trailer including bright brake lights & turn signals.

I purchased a trailer hitch and wiring 10 years ago and was very impressed with the whole experience, from the tech staff to installation of the items.
Over the years I have made several more purchases and have never been disappointed.

2003 Ford Escape

Received real fast. I installed this in my 2003 escape in about 30 min.It was quite easy to install. Thank you for the fast service. I would recommend this product to anyone needing a trailer light hookup.

2003 Mazda Tribute

I like it because you don't have to cut the factory wiring harness or run a battery wire like some of the other kits and the kit is complete and is not hard to install

Easy Installation. The video guide on this website made the installation a breeze. It took me no less than five minutes, and now with this wiring harness I Installed my tailgate light bar. This is a perfect product for any use.

2003 Ford Escape

Installation was quick and easy. One person job, would go much much faster with two though.

You will need the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, item # 118343, to wire your E-150 Van for trailer lighting. Your van has separate turn and brake lights so a converter is required. The T-One harness will plug in-line with your tail lights and then be ran down to the hitch. I hope I can clarify any confusion for you on the T-One wiring harness installation. When installing the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118343, on your 2001 Mazda Tribute the step 3 in the installation instructions is on the passenger side of the vehicle. You will want to connect the Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118343 to both taillight assemblies on your 2002 Mazda Tribute. The wiring harness needs signal from both taillights so the trailer's turn signals will function properly. The 4-Pole connector provided by the 118343 harness will provide taillight, right turn/stop, and left turn/stop functions for your trailer. I have attached a help article on trailer wiring for you.

  • I Keep Burning T-One Harnesses 118343 on my 2002 Ford Escape
They have a 1 year warranty. Since you have burned up 2 of them already, I would check to see if something is wrong on your trailer. These harnesses do have a limit as to the amperage they can deliver to the trailer lights. If that limit is exceeded, either a fuse on the Escape will burn up or the converter will burn up. You could also have an intermittent short on one of the light fixtures. I would tend to think you have too many lights or are drawing too much current through the converter....

  • Will Custom Wiring Harness for Ford Escape part 118343 Convert the Separate Turn and Brake Lights
Yes, it will. The custom wiring harness for the Ford Escape does convert the vehicle 3-wire system (separate turn signal and brake light bulbs) to the trailer 2-wire system (same turn signal and brake light bulb). When you hit the brakes on the Escape the brake lights will light up on the trailer. If you have a turn signal on at the same time you are braking the corresponding turn signal/red light on the trailer will flash while the other side is solid red for the brake light.
