Features to know about

Installs Fast Without Cutting Wires: Plug-In T-Connector Harness

Wiring a trailer doesn’t have to mean splicing into your vehicle’s tail lights. This Curt T-Connector harness plugs straight into the existing tail light connectors to create a clean, factory-style link. It’s the simplest way to get a working 4-flat connection for your trailer lights without digging into factory wiring.

Ready for Trailer Lighting: 4-Flat Connection for All Basic Signals

Once installed, the 4-pole flat connector delivers running lights, turn signals, and brake lights so the trailer mirrors what your vehicle is doing. It provides the core lighting you need to tow safely and stay road-legal with small or mid-size trailers.

Tows Safely with Solid Power Flow: Converter Built In

The integrated converter matches the vehicle’s separate signal and brake circuits to the trailer’s combined system. That keeps everything working together smoothly so your trailer lights flash exactly when they should, protecting both vehicle wiring and trailer bulbs.

Simplifies DIY Towing Setups: Designed for Vehicles Without a Tow Package

If the vehicle didn’t come prewired for towing, this harness fills that gap. It adds everything needed at the rear of the car for trailer lighting without extra modules or custom rewiring. Just plug it in behind the tail lights and you’re ready to tow.

Great product, easy to install (and deinstall if necessary)
I made a wire puller from a clothes hanger (loop one end, little hook on the other).
I found it useful to push loop end up from spare area behind carpet.
Tape two connectors of curt harness together and then hook on coat hanger and pull up to tail light.
Pics aren't in order :-)

I just installed the wiring kit and it was EASY. I accessed the tail light plug-ins by removing the covers, and then removed the back trim panel and from there it was mostly plug things in. Instead of taking the side trim loose I just pushed the wires in behind the trim panel then pulled it up and plugged them into the tail lights.Of course I had the ground wire to attach and I just put it under a tail light retaining nut. I had the job done so quick I forgot to take pictures. My dachshund helped me with the job. He was in the trunk pestering me for attention. You want a picture of him? Hope you get your wiring done quickly too.

You have great products. Everything is working perfect.

The installed product looks and works good. When we did the installation it was performed on a two post lift which made installation so much easier. I could not imagine doing the install on the ground.
by:
Works good haven't had any problems. Even know i probably should be towing with a 2016 hyundai sonata

I ordered this product for my 2015 Sonata. I tow a small utility trailer on an infrequent basis and needed to connect to the trailer lights. This product was GREAT. Total installation time was 30-45 minutes. The bulk of the time is spent carefully removing/installing the plastic panels inside the trunk.
The electrical installation was extremely simple. Just disconnect the vehicle wiring harness connector at the taillight junction and then insert the trailer wiring harness connectors. Click, Click, done. It is the same process for the passenger and driver sides. The wiring is color coded for each side. Then there is one wire to connect to the body/chassis ground. Final step is to use the provided double sided tape to attach the electrical module to the body under the trunk panels.
For my trunk panels, there are six "screws" your remove. Four are removed by hand, one with a phillips head screwdriver, and one you have to pull out. The instructions show you the basics but I recommend you go slow and take your time and when you remove & replace the panels.

I ordered a draw Tite hitch and wiring harness for my 2017 Hyundai Sonata Sport. The hitch and harness came very well packaged with all the parts supplied. I have not had time to install
the hitch so can't tell you how the install went.
I will write another review when I can get it done.
This is the 2nd hitch and wiring harness I have bought this year.
Very please with the products and quick delivery.

2016 Hyundai Sonata
Love this item. Installed on a 2016 Hyundai Sonata, vehicle sits low so the rise on this was perfect. Installed with the Curt wiring harness #C56247 and the Drawtite Sportframe receiver #24940. Works excellent together.

Wire length provides for service loops (repairs if needed). Instructions call to simply hang the plug out of your trunk. I prefer a more professional look.

Directly below the driver side taillight there is a plastic pressure equalizing vent. Use a pair of wire cutters and snip enough of the louver to feed the plug through. You can then run the wire and attach it to the receiver via zip ties or fabricate a bracket. All wires are 100% hidden from view and no risk of damaging the wiring over time by shutting the trunk on it.

Excellent products! The hitch and wiring were easy to install. The video was perfect. Thanks from a not-do-handy guy.

This is not the first time i have ordered a hitch and related products from E-trailer and each time is consistent, great price , fast shipping.
I will not get anything any where else if i can get it here

2016 Hyundai Sonata
Easy to install but this is the third car I've done it on so should be easy. Only complaint is the wires between the two tail lights could be longer. Then it would fit under carpeting.
by:
2016 Hyundai Sonata
Gotta be one of the easiest wiring harness I've installed. Dont need to run a positive connection to the battery. Took maybe 10-15 minutes to install

Product was delivered rapidly. Instructions was clear and the video very helpful. So I install it with a friend and save lot of money.
by:
This couldn't have been easier to install. I did it by myself without any issues.
by:
Still works great one year later!
by:
The double face tape was dried out and did not stick. Otherwise it worked and installed well.
by:
This is straightforward install , and it works GREAT

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2015 Hyundai Sonata for Towing a Light Trailer
We do indeed offer trailer hitch options for a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11402 is what I recommend. This trailer hitch is rated for up to 2,000 lbs. Please note, the hitch is tested separately from the vehicle so if the vehicle is rated lower or not at all that is what we must recommend following. In order to tow a trailer you'll also need a trailer wiring harness like the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56247 and a ball mount/hitch...

  • Towing Capacity of 2016 Hyundai Sonata
From what I was able to determine by checking the owner's manual of your 2016 Hyundai Sonata, they do not recommend trailer towing with this vehicle. This doesn't mean you absolutely cannot, but your best bet would be to consult with your local Hyundai dealership to determine what they recommend for your vehicle to make it possible. If you find out from them that you are able to tow a small trailer carrying your Harley, you'll need a hitch, wiring harness and ball mount with hitch ball...

  • Can 2017 Hyundai Sonata Tow a Trailer with Jet Ski?
I took a look at the owner's manual for a 2017 Hyundai Sonata and it states that it is not recommended to tow a trailer, but that doesn't mean you cannot. The Draw-Tite # 24965 trailer hitch you referenced fits your '17 Sonata so long as it is not a Hybrid, and can be used to tow but has a weight capacity of 2,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs so you would not be able to exceed those numbers. In order to tow a trailer you will also need Wiring Harness # C56247 to add a...

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Hyundai Sonata
The Curt Hitch part # C11402 has been confirmed to fit your 2015 Hyundai Sonata even if it's a Hybrid so I would recommend it for you. For trailer wiring you would want the Curt Harness part # C56247 if you do not have a hybrid model and the # 119190KIT id you have the hybrid mode. Then for a ball mount part # C45521, and for hitch balls, a 1-7/8 inch ball part # 19256, or the 2 inch ball part # 19258.

  • Will the Curt Wiring Kit # C56049 Fit a 2017 Hyundai Sonata
There were some changes to the connectors for the taillights from your 2011 Hyundai Sonata to your 2017 Hyundai Sonata that won't allow the connectors on the Curt # C56049 to be compatible with the taillight connectors on your 2017 Sonata. This change occurred between the 2014 and 2015 model year Sonatas. If you look at the 2 pictures that I have attached you can see the difference in the Curt # C56049 for your 2011 Sonata and the Curt # C56247 which is confirmed to fit your 2017 Sonata. I...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Blinkers that Do Not Work After Second Harness Install on Vehicle
That makes me think that the problem is related to your tow vehicle and not the trailer wiring harness like the part # C56247. Have you check the turn signal fuses on your Sonata? Does the blinker seem to work fine on the vehicle? have you tried using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the pins of the 4-way for voltage when blinkers are on?

  • Hitch and Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2015 Hyundai Sonata
For a trailer hitch for your 2015 Hyundai Sonata you would want the Draw Tite Hitch part # 24965. For trailer wiring you would want install the # C56365 and then make a converter adapter so that your taillight signals match up. The Vehicle to Vehicle Taillight Converter # 118158 would work well to separate the combined turn signal circuits from your 2012 Subaru Outback with combined wiring to the separate wiring of your trailer. This would be the only product you would need. Basically,...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2015 Hyundai Sonata
I checked with Curt and the 2015 Hyundai Sonata takes a different trailer hitch than the 2011 models. If you want to stick with the Curt brand the hitch for the 2015 model is # C11402. If you are using the hitch for towing both vehicles/hitches do use the same ball mount, # C45521, as well as 1-7/8 inch ball # 19256 and 2 inch ball # 19258. For trailer wiring, if your 2015 is NOT a hybrid use # C56247. If it is a hybrid use # HM11143874. If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2016 Hyundai Sonata
Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24965 will fit the 2016 Hyundai Sonata including hybrids but excluding plug-in models. I checked with Hyundai and they only say that towing with this vehicle is not recommended and they do not provide a capacity. They don't say you can't tow though. If you do want to tow then the trailer hitch does not come with the proper ball mount. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. And for trailer wiring use # C56390 for hybrid models or...

  • Does Curt Trailer Wiring Harness C56247 Fit 2015 Hyundai Sonata and Provide all Lighting
The Curt trailer wiring harness part # C56247 that you referenced is a fit for your 2015 Hyundai Sonata and will give your trailer all of the lighting functions needed. The power wire that the # HM11143874 is designed as a way to protect the taillight circuits of your vehicle. Instead of drawing the power for the trailer lights from the taillights of the vehicle it draws it directly from the battery. The Curt does not have this feature so it would be much easier to install but not necessarily...

  • 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness Fit for a 2016 Hyundai Sonata
For your 2016 Hyundai Sonata the trailer wiring you used in your 2007 Sonata would not work. You would have to go with the part # C56247 that you referenced. The taillight setups between 2007 and 2016 were different enough to require a new trailer wiring harness.
