Question:

I purchased a hitch and harness kit from E-trailer a couple years ago for my 2011 Sonata, install was a piece of cake, wiring worked great. Fast forward a couple years I upgraded to 2017 Sonata. I retained the tow system, your chart show the part # for 11 and the 17 are the same, but the wiring harness calls out for different part #. My long winded question is can I use the C56049 on my 2017. both cars require 3.0 amps for stop/turn lights and 5.0 amps for tail lights.

There were some changes to the connectors for the taillights from your 2011 Hyundai Sonata to your 2017 Hyundai Sonata that won't allow the connectors on the Curt # C56049 to be compatible with the taillight connectors on your 2017 Sonata. This change occurred between the 2014 and 2015 model year Sonatas.

If you look at the 2 pictures that I have attached you can see the difference in the Curt # C56049 for your 2011 Sonata and the Curt # C56247 which is confirmed to fit your 2017 Sonata.
