This actuator comes unassembled so you can weld it without worrying about damaging any internal components. With nothing inside to get in the way, it’s easy to line up and attach to your trailer tongue. Once it’s welded in place, you can prime and paint the outer housing to match your setup. There’s no disassembly or reassembly needed—just a clean, straightforward install that keeps all the parts intact.
The built-in adjustable channel gives you the flexibility to mount different coupler attachments (sold separately) in one of five positions. Whether you’re using a standard ball coupler, a lunette ring, or a clevis attachment, the 12" channel makes it simple to set the height so your trailer rides level. The 3" wide channel fits straight onto a 3" tongue, keeping the setup tight and aligned.
This surge-type actuator automatically applies your trailer’s hydraulic drum brakes when your tow vehicle slows down. It’s rated for up to 12,500 lbs gross towing weight and 1,250 lbs maximum tongue weight, giving you dependable stopping force for heavy-duty use. The acetal copolymer lining keeps movement smooth as the actuator telescopes in and out under load, so braking feels steady and predictable every time.
A durable composite master cylinder made from glass-reinforced nylon resists rust, corrosion, and pitting better than metal alternatives. The large fluid reservoir helps prevent low fluid levels on long hauls, while the automotive-style diaphragm cap keeps contaminants out of the brake system. Combined with a heavy-duty steel construction throughout, this setup stands up well in tough environments.
A built-in breakaway lever automatically activates the trailer brakes if it ever disconnects from the tow vehicle. The included safety cable with snap hook secures to your hitch so the system engages instantly if needed. It’s a simple safeguard that gives you peace of mind every time you tow.

Hi, there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Demco Unassembled Hydraulic Brake Actuator. This is a DA10 hydraulic actuator that's going to activate your trailer's hydraulic drum brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stop. It is unassembled for quick and easy welding, so you can get it welded on and it will help prevent any damage to the internal components by allowing you to get it welded on before you assemble it. This is pre-primed so it's ready to be painted once you have it installed.
It is going to weld onto a straight three inch wide trailer tongue. It is made here in the USA of a heavy duty steel construction. It is gonna provide a 12,500 pound gross towing weight capacity, and a 1,250 pound maximum tongue weight. We do have the 12 inch tall adjustable channel here that has the five different mounting positions for your coupler. The coupler is sold separately, but it is a three inch wide channel, so it will work with most channel mount couplers.
And we also have the Acetal copolymer lining that's gonna provide a nice, smooth operation as the actuator telescopes in and out as you're slowing and stopping, and then accelerating again. Our shock dampeners provide nice, controlled compression. And our composite master cylinder is very durable and efficient. And this does have a nice, large reservoir that's gonna provide increased capacity for your brake fluid. It's a glass reinforced nylon construction, so it is gonna resist rust and corrosion.
And up top, we do have the automotive style diaphragm cap. It's gonna create a completely enclosed system to help prevent contamination of your fluid. The breakaway lever down here on the end is going to activate your trailer's brakes, if your trailer becomes disconnected from your tow vehicle. The snap hook on the safety cable ensures a nice, secure connection to the lever, and makes sure that everything is connected easily and properly for you. So overall, a great option here.
If you are gonna be welding your coupler onto your trailer and you don't want to have to worry about burning up any of the internal components, this is gonna be a great way to go. And that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
Ratings & Reviews
Overall, the product works well. I would advise to keep tung height above level for extremely heavy loads. Otherwise, you may experience a delay in release of the brake. So far it's been a better than the Titan equivalent, partially because this system requires no grease.
