Your house battery is everything - without it, your fridge, lights, and gear are useless. The D250SE keeps it charged no matter where you are, automatically pulling power from the alternator while driving and switching to solar when parked.
When you're off-grid, your house battery becomes the heart of your setup. The D250SE keeps it charged without you having to think about it, pulling power from your alternator while driving and automatically switching to solar when parked. It's a seamless system that works in the background - no toggles, no guesswork. Whenever you're headed down the road or as you're enjoying camp, it keeps the essentials powered: fridge running, lights on, gear charged, and peace of mind fully intact.
A dead starter battery in the middle of nowhere? That's not the kind of adventure you're looking for. This charger includes a built-in battery isolator that protects your starting battery by cutting off the charge draw when the engine is off. It also comes with an MPPT solar controller, ensuring your panels deliver maximum efficiency - even in partial sun or cloudy skies. Solar gets top priority, saving your alternator and maximizing off-grid charging while giving your vehicle's starter battery the protection it deserves.
If your rig is newer, there's a good chance it has a smart alternator - and not all chargers can keep up. The D250SE is built to work with ECU-controlled alternators, including systems with variable voltage and regenerative braking. That means you get stable, consistent charging even from vehicles that don't behave like traditional setups. It's forward-thinking power management that works with the tech already in your vehicle.
One rig, two battery chemistries? No problem. The D250SE charges both lead-acid and lithium batteries. You simply select the correct mode and it adjusts the charge voltage automatically. It's a great match for builds running a lithium house battery alongside a lead-acid starting battery, which is common in overlanding, camper van, and RV setups.
Temperature extremes are a reality when you live out of your vehicle. The temperature sensor actively adjusts charging voltage to protect your battery and optimize performance in all conditions - whether you're waking up in the desert sun or plugging in during a freezing winter morning.
If your build includes high-draw devices or you're planning for future upgrades, the D250SE is ready to scale with you. It works seamlessly with the Smartpass 120S (sold separately), a power management module that boosts total system capacity to 140 amps and adds smart features like start assist and priority power routing. Together, they form a complete dual-battery charging solution for rigs with serious power demands. It's the next step when you're ready to go beyond just keeping the lights on.

Hi everyone, Steven here with etrailer.com. Today, we're looking at our CTEK D250SE Smart Battery Charger. Now folks, this is a DC to DC 12 volt 20 amp charger. It does dual charging from solar, and also from your alternator, so it's gonna automatically prioritize the best power source to give you the most efficient charging possible. Now this also protects your starter battery by preventing discharge as well, so it's gonna maintain both the service and starter batteries. It does work with 12 volt lead asset and lithium batteries.
It has built-in smart power management, and that's gonna maximize your battery's life, and also keep your system running reliably anywhere. Now it also has what's called a built-in MPPT solar regulator, and that's gonna optimize charging in all conditions. You got two cables here for installation, along with this other cable here, and you've got an out, an in, and then you got the solar in and a positive and a negative over here as well. So follow the instructions with the pictures. Once you get it installed correctly, it's gonna automatically do its thing.
You're not gonna have to worry about changing any kind of settings or anything like that for the most part, you're just gonna plug it in and let it do its thing. Now, as a temperature sensor, that will adjust charging for hot or cold environments, and it is compatible with all smart alternators, so you're gonna have reliable charging, even with ECU-controlled alternators that are out there. So very nice product by CTEK. This again is the Smart Battery Charger. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
