Yakima HandCuff optional lock for RidgeBack and SwingDaddy bike racks

The Yakima HandCuff is an accessory kit that includes everything you need to add a cable lock to your RidgeBack or SwingDaddy bike rack. And it comes with a second SKS core for your rack's SpeedKnob so that you can make the locks keyed alike.

Custom Lock for Yakima RidgeBack and SwingDaddy Bike Racks

Yakima RidgeBack and SwingDaddy precut slot for HandCuff lock

Your RidgeBack or SwingDaddy bike rack comes from the factory ready to accept the HandCuff mounting panel. Simply remove the flat panel on the rack with the included Allen key and replace it with the HandCuff panel.

Yakima HandCuff stores in upright mast

Once you've removed the panel, simply insert the cable lock and its mounting panel into the slot on your rack. Use the included Allen key to tighten the panel in place.

Yakima HandCuff includes replacement endcap

The HandCuff's lock fits onto the included replacement endcap. The endcap contains a post that accepts the locking mechanism to secure the cable. To install it, just remove an endcap from your rack and replace it with the HandCuff endcap.

Same Key Convenience

Yakima HandCuff includes extra SKS core

The HandCuff also includes an extra SKS lock core that's keyed identically to the cable lock. This extra core makes it possible to swap out the core on your rack's locking SpeedKnob so you only need 1 key to lock your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Excellent cable lock. It will keep the thieves from stealing your bike.

by:

Works great, installs in less than 5 min. It is also very convenient that the locks at the top and bottom are now the same key.

by:

delay in shipping should be known before buying so that planning on my part could have been done better. parts always come but this delay was a surprise after i had paid. glad i had time to wait.

by:

Fits perfectly on the Yakima RidgeBack. Shipping was extremely fast!

by:

Its great I love the integrated locking system and I use it four to five times each week!

Grateful that etrailer still carries this product. Exact fit and delivered timely. Thank you

by:

A must for securing the safety of your bikes when they are on the Yakima rack. Well thought out design…plus the ability to have the bike rack and bike lock be keyed alike cuts down on key clusters and confusion. One key for both locking the rack to the hitch and for locking the cable that locks the bike frames to the rack. Delighted to be able to have them keyed alike…I recommend this feature.

I’m very pleased with this item and it’s a great accessory. I am particularly pleased that the lock can match the lack of my Bike rack. I feel like my bike is always secure.

Lock system continues to work great

by:

The lock came taped to the hitch I also ordered, but I had no idea that it was in there, til I opened the hitch box & unpacked it. That almost caused me to email etrailer to ask where it was. Lock works well, but the last foot does have issues going back into the SwingDaddy, sometimes. Not sure if it’s getting twisted or kinked, but it is very nice that it hides inside the Yakima. Even with that last foot being a small pain, I’d still get it again.

by:

The hand cuff cable lock was simple to install and convenient to use. I like the way it stores within my Yakima bike rack, making it one less thing for me to forget or lose!

by:

Wow. I search and search online for the right solution and deal. In the end I tried etrailer for helping conclude my search and buy. The Customer Service Rep was patient and proactive in helping me get all the right combinations of equipment for my needs. Including buying third party accessories elsewhere. In the end I bought everything through them. I was grateful. And man my assembly was cake! Thanks etrailer.com. You all probably the best source for choice and assistance and easy purchase and delivery all combined.

by:

Easy to install. Works as advertised. Definitely necessary if you plan on leaving your bikes on the rack when you’re not around.

by:

I’m very satisfied with my purchase(s) from etrailer. They were great to work with. Their selection is great and prices are very competitive. Deliveries were made on-time.

by:

Very nice bike rack, great customer service and was delivered on time.

by:

Great product and etrailer was super helpful with ordering process etc

by:

Yakima swing daddy. Sturdy and easy to assemble. Haven't used it yet, but it looks like it will take anything we throw at it. Bought it use on both F250 and 4-runner.

by:

Installation was a breeze. And adding the handcuff locking kit couldn't be simpler.

by:

They provided the correct parts the first time as opposed to others who just don't get it right. Great customer service and great following up after the sale.

by:

Fast shipping and Great customer support. I highly recommend this website.

Works perfectly easy to install with the included directions. Shipping was fast.

  • Recommended 4-Bike Rack for 2013 Ford C-Max
For a '13 C-Max the only 2 inch hitch available is the EcoHitch # 306-X7200; there is also trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver for a 2013 C-Max, the Class II Curt # C12092. So if you have the Class II Curt # C12092 trailer hitch on your vehicle there are high-quality 4-bike racks and I highly recommend checking out the Yakima RidgeBack # Y02458 because it is easy to use and provides optimal support for your bikes. The RidgeBack installs easily with the use of a pin and locks in your...

  • How is the Yakima RidgeBack Bike Rack Secured in the Vehicle's Receiver Hitch
The Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack, # Y02466, uses the SpeedKnob locking system to secure the rack into the vehicle's receiver hitch. As you turn the knob the anti-rattle wedge on the rack's hitch shank will expand to provide a tight fit inside the hitch. The wedge is held on with Allen head screws, but with the shank in the hitch it would be impossible to remove. When tighten, the Yakima SpeedKnob can be locked to deter theft. When lock the knob will free spin.

  • Is the Yakima HitchSki Compatible with the Yakima BackRoad 4?
I have a great 4-bike solution for you. Even though we cannot verify with certainty that the HitchSki # Y02418 will fit the cradle spread of the Yakima BackRoad 4 # YA44FR, we do know for sure that Yakima did not design the HitchSki to work with the BackRoad. For that reason, I do not recommend using the HitchSki with the BackRoad because only a single pair of cradles is not as safe as traveling with more attachment points on the rack. With that being said, I have a great alternate bike...

  • Best Front Mount Hitch For 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 For Carrying Bike Rack
Excellent question, and you're right that bike racks experience tremendous bounce at the rear of a trailer, and it would require a specially-rated bike rack (of which there are few), so a front-mount hitch on your 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 is a great idea, with the best hitch being the EcoHitch you asked about due to it having the best ground clearance. The racks share many similarities as far as capacities and design goes, but in a nutshell I'd consider the # Y02458 RidgeBack to be an upgraded version of the # YA44FR BackRoad. The RidgeBack has several upgrades that make it easier to use, such as the speed knob anti rattle system which provides a locking knob at the front of the rack that takes all the slack out of the hitch/rack connection versus the threaded hitch pin on the BackRoad that you'll need to use a wrench to install/remove....
