Question:

I have 3 kids and we like to go biking together. We used to have an old truck that we could throw all of the bikes in, but I upgraded to a 2015 Honda Odyssey. What are my options for carrying 4 bikes and maybe a 5. the 5th would be a small childs bike, so I could put that in the back.

For your 2015 Honda Odyssey, I'd recommend a 5 bike hitch mounted rack so the entire family has the option to play together. If you don't have a trailer hitch, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Round Tube, # 75270, for your vehicle. I've attached a video for your reference.

A great choice for your bike rack would be the Thule Apex XT 5 Bike Rack, # TH9026XT. It will fit a 1-1/4 or a 2 inch hitch and has some great options to make it easy to use. It has anti-sway cradles with ratcheting straps that just click into place and hold each bike at 3 points. It has a control lever that allows you to fold the arms of the rack down when not in use to reduce space when not carrying bikes, and has a tilting design that allows you access to your cargo area.

If you decide on a 4 bike rack, I recommend the Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # Y02458 which is a similar rack made for 4 bikes. It has a total capacity of 150 lbs and weight just 35 lbs.

For Children's, Women's, and Alternative frame bikes, you may want to consider a Bike Adapter like Yakima's Tube Top Bike Adapter Bar, # Y02531. This creates a top bar for greater stability on the rack.
