Base Plate Kit for 2016 Jeep Wrangler 75th Anniversary Edition

Updated 10/21/2026 | Published 10/18/2026

Question:

BX1126 base plate vs BX1134? How is the BX1134 better for my 75TH 2016 Wrangler bumper and how does it work with the steel skid plate?

Hey Matt! The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1126 won't fit your 2016 Jeep Wrangler 75th Anniversary Edition. You'll need the # BX1134 instead, which is specifically designed to work with your factory steel bumper.

You can keep the steel skid plate, but it will need to be trimmed to clear the base plate brackets. I've linked our installation video below showing the # BX1134 being installed on a Wrangler so you can see what the process is like.

Do you have the rest of your parts already? If not, I recommend the following for a complete setup:

-Blue Ox Alpha Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX7380

-Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit # RM-15267

-Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR

-Roadmaster12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332

-Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25

-etrailer High-Low Adjustable Adapter # e52ZV

I recently purchased the BX1134. It was pretty easy to install. Hardest part was bumper removal and install. Watch the video provided by etrailer, it makes installation a breeze. Good solid clamps are a must to keep your base plate from moving when installing. You will have to trim your skid plate several inches in order to re-install it. I had to do the same. Mine was easy since I only have the plastic skid plate. May upgrade to a steel one, but don't know when or if I want to tackle trimming it.

@CoryT thanks for sharing your installation experience! Glad our video helped make the process easier, and that's a great tip about using clamps to hold everything in place.
