How to Flat Tow A Jeep With a Roadmaster Baseplate and Another With a Blue Ox Baseplate

Updated 04/20/2026 | Published 04/14/2026

Question:

I currently have a 2010 jeep wrangler unlimted 3,8 liter with a roadmaster base plate and all connections. We have also pruchased a 2013 3.6 liter that has a blue ox baseplate only. No additional parts other than the baseplate mounted to frame. Will my roadmaster quick diconnects that have the Ts fit into the blue ox? we are only towing 1 vehicle at a time and would prefer not to have to buy all the other parts.

Hey Michael, welcome back!

The short answer is that the Roadmaster and Blue Ox base plate connections aren’t directly interchangeable, so your Roadmaster quick disconnects won’t plug right into the Blue Ox base plate.

The good news is you don’t have to replace everything. You can use an adapter to make the two systems work together and keep using your existing setup.

I took a look at your previous orders and didn’t see a tow bar listed. If you can let me know which tow bar you’re using, I can point you to the easiest adapter option so you can switch between the two Jeeps without any hassle.

How long have you been flat towing for?
