How to Replace Hook Locks on Swagman Chinook Bike Rack

Question:

My swagman chinook was broken into and the lock on the short arm hook was damaged. Can I just get the locking mechanism? I can transfer the short arm to the new ratchet lock. Thanks,

I am sorry to hear about your recent incident! Unfortunately the lock mechanisms are not available by themselves from Swagman. The only way to replace them will be to use the Replacement Locking Hook Set # SP428 to replace the entire hook assembly.

This is only available with both the long and short hook included so you will just have a spare on hand in case anything else were to happen in the future.

Can I just buy the short arm on my Chinook bike rack. The locking mechanism is fine, I just need the hook.

@Bj Hey BJ, I know it's silly but Swagman only offers the short arm as part of this set, and not separately by itself. It's possible if you reach out to them directly they might be able to send you one, otherwise I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a spare long hook ready to go if anything happens to it.
