Note: These brake assemblies do not come with a sensor, you need to re-use your existing sensor when replacing your brakes.
Standard electric brake assemblies require manual adjustment of the brake shoes over time to provide longer-lasting and more efficient braking performance. With self-adjusting brakes, the brake shoes are always properly aligned, so there's no need to manually adjust the brakes after the initial adjustment. As a result, you get optimum performance without having to take the time to continually perform this type of maintenance.
This brake assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This brake assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This brake has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.
Each shoe on this brake assembly is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.
The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this electric 12-inch left-hand trailer brake assembly for your Lippert ABS hubs. Now this driver's side electric trailer brake is twelve by two inches and it's made for Lippert ABS systems. And just to confirm that measurement with you, measuring brake pad to brake pad, as you can see, I'm getting rid of that glare there, we're 12 inches, and then the width of the pad is two inches. Hopefully you can see that. So this is going to fit 14-and-a-half-inch, 15, 16 and 16-and-a-half-inch wheels.
And this is going to fit trailer axles that are 5,200 , 6,000 and 7,000-pounds. And as you can see here, the mounting flange bolt pattern is five bolt. The integrated sensor is gonna make this a suitable replacement for hubs that use the Lippert ABS system, and electric brakes are easier to install and they offer more control than hydraulic brakes, more user control rather. So they require only an electric brake controller, no actuator, no hydraulic lines are necessary with this assembly. The automotive-grade friction material is molded to the brake shoes and the pads are fully bonded.
As you can see, they're not riveted to the shoes, so that's gonna give you longer life, more braking torque, so there's less chance of cracking and crumbling that can lead to a mechanical lockup thanks to the tapered edge and the circular grinding. And this self-adjusting brake does not require periodic manual adjustment like standard brakes. As you can see here, we've got this steel cable here that runs through this pulley. I think you can see that there. And then it's connected to the the star wheel gear for that self adjustment.
If you wanted to do some fine-tooth adjustments, you could, or fine tuning rather, you could with that star wheel, but it's not necessary because these are going to self adjust. We do have adjuster plugs here that cover the access holes to keep dirt and grime out of the assembly and off the shoes. The e-coated backing plate's gonna resist wear and tear and corrosion. This is QAI and CSA certified. And you see the wires right here to hook this up.
Now, this does not include mounting bolts and hardware, you would have to pick that up separately. We do carry that here at etrailer.com. So on your screen, I am including our item number for that kit if need be. And then we do also carry the right-hand assembly. And then if you want both the left and right-hand assemblies, we carry those as a kit as well. So I have the appropriate item numbers there for you on the screen. You can take our item numbers, pop it in the search field or our website, and that will take you to exactly what you're looking for. Now, most new assemblies are stickered or engraved to help you indicate which side this goes on. So this is, has a sticker here on the left that states left-hand side. But in case you don't know, the shorter pad, the shorter brake pad, that is considered to be the primary pad. That's the pad that always points to the front. So when you have this on your trailer assembly, that shorter pad points to the front. So you can see that this is going to go on that driver's side. The rear pad is significantly longer as you can see here. So you can always tell at a glance which assembly is for what, whether it's the left or the right-hand side. So because that shorter pad is on the front here, that's gonna point to the front of the trailer, this is going to be for the left-hand or the driver's side of your trailer. If you do happen to have any other additional questions that I didn't cover with you today, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We do wanna be sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. But I think it's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
