Secure, Two-Piece Jaw

Q24 Two-Piece Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Q24 Color Indicator System

360-Degree Pivot

Curt's unique spherical axial bearing provides a durable pivot point that allows easy, 360-degree movement of the hitch head. This ball joint is designed for smooth, quiet operation with less clunking and chucking.

Video Transcript for What to Know About the Curt Universal Fifth Wheel Base Rails

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.

We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.

This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. But that should do it for the review on the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails.

  • Recommended 5th-Wheel Hitch that is Easily Removed on 2014 Ram 1500
Choosing the right 5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch for your 2014 Ram 1500 will depend first on the weight of the trailer you plan on towing. You will want to make sure the truck and hitch have weight capacities that exceed the trailer's loaded weight. Since your Ram 1500 has a short 5-1/2 foot bed, the safest way to tow a trailer is to use a stationary 5th-wheel hitch and replace the pin box on the trailer with a Sidewinder, if it does not have one already. The Sidewinder will be required to add...

  • What is Towing Capacity of 2010 Dodge Ram 4.7 Liter with Tow Package
Looks like your 2010 Ram 1500 with a 4.7 liter V8 would have a towing capacity of 7,650 lbs if you have a 2 wheel drive truck or 7,450 lbs if you have a 4 wheel drive truck. Those two figures would be the absolute max trailer weight you could tow with your truck. The Curt universal slider hitch and rail kit part C16616 won't work for you though as the rail kit does not fit your truck. Instead you'd need the semi-custom rail kit part # C16306-204 which fits your truck and then the E16 slider...

  • Where Does Curt Fifth Wheel Rail Kit # C16306-204 Install in 2017 Ram 1500 Short Bed
When installing the Curt fifth wheel rail kit part # C16306-204 in your 2017 Ram 1500 with a short bed you'll want the rear rail edge to measure 29 inches from the rear edge of the truck's bed. Once you have that rail placed you'll then use the fifth wheel hitch to place the front rail. Basically you locate the rear rail where it needs to go and then set a fifth wheel hitch in the rear rail and then use the mounting tabs of the hitch to place the front rail. This ensures that the hitch...

  • Why is Curt Fifth Wheel Rail kit C16306-204 for 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 Considered a Semi-Custom Kit
Semi-custom rail kits like the part # C16306-204 that you referenced mean that they will require frame drilling basically like a universal kit. However, since your 2015 Ram 1500 with a short bed isn't compatible with the standard L-bracket fifth wheel rail universal brackets custom brackets needed to be made. So it's semi-custom because the brackets are designed specifically to fit your truck, but they would require you to drill into the frame to install so it's actually going to install...

  • Universal 5th Wheel Install Bracket/Rail Kit for 2015 Ram 1500
Because of obstructions where the rear frame brackets would mount, the Curt Universal Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit, part # C16100 won't work on your 2015 Ram 1500. You'd need to use a kit with rear brackets to fit around the obstruction, part # C16306-204. The kit uses industry standard bed rails, which are compatible with Reese, Curt, Valley, and Husky hitches, among others. You will need to drill into the frame for this installation. • Can a 2011 Dodge 1500 Crew Cab Short Bed Tow a Fifth Wheel
Due to the short bed on your 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab, the only way you will be able to successfully tow a fifth wheel trailer without having the front of the trailer loft strike the rear of the cab during turns would be to use a Sidewinder extended pin box. The Sidewinder relocates the pivot point from the connection of the hitch and the king pin to the point where the pin box connects to the trailer, thus providing 22 inches of additional clearance between the rear of the cab and...

I spoke with my contact at Curt who said that installation kit # C16306-204 will fit your truck. Thank you for all of the information regarding your Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16265 being stuck on your 5th wheel trailer. It sounds like you've got 2 things going on here; the first is that the jaws are binding, and the second is that the orbital pad has been broken. • Option for Raising Nose of Momentum 3975 Wheel Trailer Towed by 2019 Ford F-350
4 inches of clearance between the bed rails of your truck and the overhang of the 2020 Momentum 397 is the very minimum amount of clearance most refer to as safe. So strictly in that regard you aren't in a terrible position. That said, 6 inches is a much more ideal amount of clearance to have and it looks like your trailer might be a little nose low so it could stand to be raised in the front. Since pin box replacements aren't really designed for offering varying height setting you'd...
