Question:
2019 F-450 with curt 25. 2020 momentum 397th all stock. I am running about 4 inches between bed and trailer. What can I do to get a couple more inches? Been wondering if I need new pin box with more adjustment? Open to your expertise.

Helpful Expert Reply:
4 inches of clearance between the bed rails of your truck and the overhang of the 2020 Momentum 397 is the very minimum amount of clearance most refer to as safe. So strictly in that regard you aren't in a terrible position. That said, 6 inches is a much more ideal amount of clearance to have and it looks like your trailer might be a little nose low so it could stand to be raised in the front.
Since pin box replacements aren't really designed for offering varying height setting you'd want to look into a taller fifth wheel hitch. Unless you can use a lower set of mounting holes on your trailer frame for the pin box to gain more height or raise the head of your hitch.
If you can get back to me with which exact hitch you have, what head mounting holes it's using, and if you can lower the pin box any further I can see what would be best solution! I believe you have a Curt Q25 # C16265 which is adjustable up to 17 inches tall and the tallest option we have to replace that would be the B and W Patriot # BWRVK3200 which can be up to 18 inches tall and would get you to a safer clearance dimension plus has a superior jaw design that you'll really love too as it will give you a smoother and quieter ride quality.
