Quiet, Secure Ride

B&W Companion OEM Ram Jaw

The 1" thick jaw on the Companion OEM is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

B&W Companion OEM Ram Bushings

In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.

Non-Binding Latch Handle

The dual jaw on the Companion OEM is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.

The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".

Installation of the B&W Companion OEM

To install the Companion OEM, first set up the Companion's pivot arms. The arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you the cab clearance needed to execute turns while towing.

To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base.

B&W Companion OEM Ram Feet

Then, when the hitch head is fully assembled, simply place the hitch in the bed of your truck, lining the base up with the receiver sockets in the bed. Rotate all 4 handles on the hitch base out so that the built-in puck receivers are in the correct position to install in the sockets. Once the base is lined up, fold the handles in until they are in the locked position and secure them with the included pins.

The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

Only one half received. Bottom rails damaged in shipping, being returned. Was going to pick up a trailer with my old truck this weekend, and needed this hitch. So I am sure the metal is quality, but for me it is useless scrap with out the bottom part. So now sellers are waiting to sell a trailer to me that I cannot get for another month. So much for depending on pro shippers to do it right.

  • Comparing B&W Companion And Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch For 2017 GMC Sierra 3500 With Tow Pkg
Both of the hitches you asked about have some great features. They both have dual jaws for better king-pin contact, and both have the same towing and vertical load limit capacity. There are a few differences between the hitches. The hitch height of the B&W # BWRVK3700 is 16-3/4 - 18-3/4 inches where the Curt # C16530-16025 is 13 to 17-inches. The Curt has a 10-year warranty on the hitch and limited lifetime on the legs. The B&W hitch has a lifetime warranty. The jaws on the B&W hitch...

  • Recommended B&W Companion Hitch for a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 W/ Reese Under Bed Pucks
Hey Robert, the B&W Companion # BWRVK3710 and # BWRVK3700 are the exact same thing. The only difference is that # BWRVK3710 fits the 2020-2026 GMC Sierra 2500/3500s, while # BWRVK3700 fits the 2016-2019 GMC Sierra 2500/3500s. So since the Reese # RP30868 is the same thing as the Ford OEM pucks, you're actually going to want to use the B&W # BWRVK3305 instead.

  • B&W Companion Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Chevy Silverado 3500
For your 2018 Chevy Silverado 3500 the B and W Companion hitch part # BWRVK3700 is the best option you have for the factory rail kit. The Companion hitches are among the nicest hitches around and are considered by most as the best fifth wheel hitch. This would be a great solution. This also will easily work with a Lippert Trailair pin box. For a B&W Companion hitch I recommend using a 10 inch diameter lube plate. We have the Reese Lube Plate, # RP83002, which is my top choice, and the...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 with Puck System
I would be happy to help you select your first 5th wheel hitch for your 2019 GMC Sierra 2500! If you have an 8' bed then you don't need a slider and I recommend the 20K B&W Companion # BWRVK3700 because it has 1" thick dual jaws to secure your king pin and a cam-action latching handle that allows you to release your 5th wheel trailer even if you're parked on uneven terrain. The 20K rating is more than enough for your 12K trailer and since this is made in the USA and comes with a limited...

The Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch RP30143 is only compatible with the Reese Elite Underbed Kit. Unfortunately there is not a compatible leg kit or adapter for your new truck OEM pucks and that hitch head. The compatible hitch for your truck is the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # RP30890. This hitch is directly compatible with your factory pucks. • B&W Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch that Fits 2020 GM OEM Fifth Wheel Rail Kit in Chevy and GMC Truck
GM changed the puck dimension from the year 2019 to 2020 but prior to that the size and fifth wheel fits are all the exact same. The B and W Companion part # BWRVK3715 is a fit for the new puck design in 2020 but if you had a OEM rail kit made earlier than that you'd need the part # BWRVK3700 instead.

  • B&W Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 with Rail Kit
Since you have a short bed 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 with the factory rail kit you have to go with a slider hitch to allow you the clearance to make tight turns. So for that you would want the part # BWRVK3770. There are a few exceptions where you might be able to get away with a stationary hitch part # BWRVK3700 though. The trailer would have to either have a narrow nose designed for short bed clearance or have a Reese Revolution or Sidewinder pin box installed.

This works with the factory-installed 5th-wheel towing prep package you have. The 1" thick jaw on the Companion is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. For your 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 we have the B&W Companion hitches available as a direct fit which we recommend highly. There are two reasons the B and W Companion hitch part # BWRVK3700 only shows up for the 8 foot bed models of the 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with the factory rail kit. Biggest reason is because the rail kits between the short and long bed GM rail kits are different dimensions so the hitch won't physically fit. Also because for a short bed truck you'd want to use a slider hitch to have enough turning clearance like the # BWRVK3770 which does fit and would work well. If you have a long...
