Marine Grade Surge Brake Kit Recommendation for a 16' Boat Trailer

Hey I was wondering if I could build a surge brake setup that is marine grade for my boat? It is only 16’ but I would feel more comfortable towing with it. Thanks!

Hey Stephen, thanks for reaching out!
I believe you have a 3,500 lb axle so I'm going to base my recommendations off of that, but it would be best if you verify this on your own. You can see the axle rating either on the tag near the tongue of your trailer or on the tag in the middle of the axle itself.
We have some drum brakes with a dacromet finish, but there aren't any hub/drums with a marine coating so I recommend going with some disc brakes; specifically the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE66YR due to the Maxx coating that's rated for over 1,000 hours of salt spray.
Then to wrap up your brake setup you need a Brake Line Kit # 18SI-BLKIT and an Actuator # DX89FR. The actuator comes with an electric lockout so if we upgrade the 4-Way plug on your trailer to a 5-Way or 7-Way it will keep the actuator from applying your brakes when you're backing up.
Do you have a single axle trailer or a tandem (dual) axle trailer, and is it (are they) rated for 3,500 lbs? What do you think of the setup I referenced for you?
