The difference between the Curt TruTrack # C17501 and # C17499 are their weight capacities and the # C17501 comes with a 2-5/16" hitch ball already installed, whereas the # C17499 would require you to purchase one and torque it down yourself.
The heads are slightly different so while you could most likely just swap out the Trunnion bars on the # C17501 with the lower rated # C17535 I recommend just getting the # C17499 and a 2-5/16" hitch ball like # 19286. You can typically use or rent a big enough torque wrench at your local auto parts store to get that ball torqued down on the head.

Could you still use the Complete 17501 setup on a trailer that weighed 6000 pounds or would there be problems and if so, what would those problems be?
