Can 1,000 Lb Spring Bars be Swapped out with 600 Lb Spring Bars on a Equal-i-zer System

Question:

I have an Equalizer EQ37100ET and I want to tow my 3800lb trailer with it. Can I use the 6K springs from the EQ37060ET? is that even possible? or should I just stick with the 10K springs that I have? Truck: 2014 Jeep Grand cherokee Trailer: 1967 Holiday Rambler single axle 20ft.

For starters, I would not use the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System part # EQ37100ET that you have now as it is rated for a total tongue weight of 600 lbs - 1,000 lbs. The tongue weight of your 1967 Holiday Rambler is likely around 380 lbs - 570 lbs which means the above system is not going to perform well for you.

Now I do have an option for you but the Replacement Spring Bars part # EQ90-01-0699 which are rated for a total tongue weight of 200 lbs - 600 lbs cannot be used with the above system as the sockets on the head are a different size. The sockets on the 1,000 lb system are 1-3/8" wide and the sockets on the 600 lb system are 1-1/4" wide.

You can swap out the Replacement Head part # EQ90-02-0600 as well but at that point you would be better off selling the system you have now and then using that money to offset the cost of the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System part # EQ37060ET. If you still need to use the 1,000 lb system then you may be interested in just looking at the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System part # FA92-00-0600 which is made by the same company and has a very similar quality.

I don't see the logic here - It's much cheaper to buy the 6,000 lb. head and bars than to buy a whole new system.
